Sorry and don't mean to be too critical but this was not particularly impressive. Having lived and flown in Alaska for 20+ years, the plane is capable of much better performance.
Nice approach/landing. W/ STOL "gear" you get 37kt stall speed? What kind of load? I'd flown a Cherokee 6 (300) out of bad n short strips, n some 300kg above MTOW. In this condition I remember my Vr about and not below 80kt, flap 2 detent, stall "bell" about to ring!! Please, let me know about your experience w/ C-206. Congrats. Nice skills.
taking in premise the hard glide slope and overloaded i say the landing was good! u said that 50 is the approaching speed hhhhh it is approximately equal to my PA28 warrior 3 Vs1 stalling speed hhhhhhhhhh i approach at 80 kts! keep it up and next time try to flare more and land on landing gears not 3 wheels ! not being rude its only an advice
i don't see robertson stol, i only see full flaps, i see aleirons clear, i know pilots here in mexico that land in that maner without robinson stol, good video, sorry for my bad enlglish,
A workhorse machine, indeed.
As far as the "on off power" landing is concerned as someone said "Very inconsistent"...may be it should da frame rate sincronizing with the camera that show a little what the pilot it's actually doing: a great control over the engine power in order to get the machine well down in the limits.
Thanks. The approach speed for STOL landings is 50kts and just before touch down it's probably 40kts (I'm not real sure though, because I've never really looked at that moment.)
Thanks for the comment and for watching the video. The ariplane was actually very lightly loaded and required very heavy braking to stop in time. Thanks again!
There is wind above the treeline on final. That is why the leaves and branches on the trees are fluttering and moving and that is why he is crabbed and takes out the crab with a left turn during the flair.
Valhalla! Nice! Flown 67JA before. Nice plane.

good proccedure, easy to say but i think he could flare a little harder and have even softer touchdown

Man I would have been a ball of nerves that close to the trees, which I guess is why my pilot skills keep me drooling on videos like this...lol

Good landing man ! two much than a pair of balls for that landing !

50kts !! Thats very slow for this plane, no ?
TheEnglishWay1 2 years ago
It's slow, but not with the Roberston STOL kit. Stall speed is actually 37kts. Thanks for watching : )
jacobandgina 2 years ago 5
Can you please, give some information about that "STOL kit" seems to be something very useful.
Thanks :)

Very inconsistent power on, power off aproach...
chinagilb 4 years ago
I noticed that too, but have you ever flown a 206? I have, and after consideration I think it was a pretty good approach.
mi24hind 4 years ago
It's not the easiest glide slope to judge with those trees at varying heights and what was obviously a fairly decent crosswind.
flanksteak2 1 year ago 9
@flanksteak2 no crosswind. look at the sock @ 0:35

@TalkDaTech The Windsock is below the Treeline. Look at the leaves and branches on the trees and the left turn during the flare.

.<b>Wow, nicely done. Pilot didnt' touch hard at all that I can see.
BeechSundowner 4 years ago
looks like a very tough one. People may say the pilot touched hard. But I believe that's the right way to do it at that place with that plane.
