quote from my experiences: random student walks up to me while I'm taking photos "What kind of camera is that?" "Nikon D700" "What lens?" "14-24mm" short pause "amateurs these days, I have a Nikon D6sp, that means special" "really, what lenses do you have for it?" "a 6-12mm vr, and a 500mm" "really, do you know what their lowest F stop is?" "they go from infinity to 60" "well, where is your camera?" "what camera?"
ummm you know the first quote is something about me but in the future....
because i dont think that i will need degree qualification, but still i kindy liked the classes to where my friend went, i think i will skip the novice lessons i think i know enough... but still i dont have a DSLR only a Zenit XD
hey, i was wondering why you say NiMh batteries are cheap? What is better? I use 6 AA NiMh batteries as opposed to two Lithium rechargables in my Camera as well. Is it a bad idea?
you mentioned here D300 is clean up to 3200 ISO, what about D200? up to what ISO does D200 can still produce clean images without really noticeable noise? I never really have the guts to try higher ISO, I always put it on 100 and if it's on low light condition to prevent camera shake I usually just use a tripod so I can keep the 100 ISO. Thanks.
It's time for you to open your mind. :) Well, "noticeable" noise will appear, depending on the print size you are making. D200 could be useable at ISO 1600 up to 8 x 10 prints but it becomes noticeable when you are making bigger prints (11 x 14, 16 x 20, etc.). It is pretty clean up to ISO 800 without High ISO NR (Noise Reduction) turned on. The noise at ISO 1600 on D200 looks like ASA 640 on film.
You obviously recommend NOT using cheap rechargeable AAs.
But what about cheap (not rechargeable) Alkaline AAs? Well, I got a great deal on Albertson's Brand AAs, $1 for 8! So I purchased like 12 packs.
I decided to use these in my SB-800, and guess what? It got hot pretty quick. The batteries got SUPER HOT.
What batteries (rechargeable or NOT) do you recommend for a SB-800 and the AA tray for a MB-D10 grip? Can you please be more specific than "Copper Top"? EX, Alkaline or Lithium?
Bronze-Top AA batteries by Duracell is Alkaline. That is one and only battery brand and kind I would recommend to everyone to use in SB-speedlights. Rechargeable, non-Alkaline, or cheap batteries will not perform very good and it could fry your strobe lamp in the speedlight (it is not covered by Nikon warranty). There will be a new video explantation on this topic on November 1st, just wait. :)
I enjoyed the reflector bit. I have a 5-in-1 reflector that's around 65 inches long and its always fun to give it to an assistant and ask them to collapse it. Of course, I had a bit of trouble with it at first.
The reflectors that only offer two colors are easier to collapse.
I always prefer neutral white reflector rather than golden or silver because it makes the subject to appear more yellowish or silverish. Oh, well, everyone's different. :)
AW, priceless stuff! Surprised you didn't have any from me (I have asked you the dumb, OBVIOUS queries from time to time)! Hey, I just bought a new Studio Systems 5 in 1 reflector kit...it's 42" and it's a damn pain to fold back....guess everyone has problems with those discs!!
haha theres some good ones in there, heres mine not very funny but any way...
so i learned that this guy i go to school with was into photography so we get to talkin and he said he was planing on selling some prints, so we go on talking about that and i ask some questions whether he uses slaves etc... and he says "no the quality from my canon p&s (dont rember them name) was good enough that he didint need to and besides composition and lighting dont matter because if people like the subject ...
i tryed to explain to him all year how important they are and the fact that you can make a boring subject interesting with good technique, and that an slr is better then a p&s.
Where to get a cheap D3? If you wanna be mean, send em to Broadway Photo! Currently priced at $3,521 on their site. Although I WOULD NOT recommend buying from them. Unless you don't mind bait and switch.
Been there, done that. :) I was teasing a friend who wants to purchase a D2Hs, they had one for $1,250 (that's 2.5 times cheaper) - turns out it's just a scam and they don't really have it.
Man, I wish MY dad would give me a D3... Although I'd rather have some nice glass first.

Is that seriously true? A guy with a Canon 1Ds Mk III would not know what a medium format is. That's just sad.

Ive been lucky enough to have a chance to use the Polaroid 20X24 camera they have in the Vale of Leven, Scotland.
Im sure 60X40 prints would turn out fine with that.
Have fun trying to enlarge that though haha.
Apparently its almost £100 for a single 20X24 print because of the amount of chemicals and such used.
By the way i love your videos =].
I use a D80.

NEVER use rechargeable batteries in your flash or camera. Please watch a new video: SB-900 Overheating Solution video, it will explain into depth.

It would be nice to slow down the text just a little bit. I had to pause several times because I could not keep up with the text speed.
Other than that, thanks for the laughs!

I'm just saying that it's nicer to be able to just watch the film than to have to pause every new slide, but no worries!

I like silver light because of the contrast, but I would be more likely to just bounce a flash off of a silver umbrella for that.
