  • Love the videos!!! I see you use an avet reel. What size reel?hooks? ect. I fish for big cat on the mississippi river around St. Louis. I use 320 gti penns with 65# braided and 8/0 octopus circles. It's a hoot to hit a school of blues from 20 to 50lb. I work so much lately that I have been dooing alot of armchair fishing on your site. Thanks for the show.

  • i enjoy the show man but my ears are bleeding cos of u...hehe anyway thanks for the show...

  • I caught one 5 metres across the wings up north Queensland once ....we took turns on it bringing it in 3 of us took over 20 hours

So When i catch a stingray now i dont bother its a waste of time , they taste like crap, and dont fight,, they sit on the bottom and use their weight against you

  • mmm i agree sorta, i mean, theyre kool and all, but theyre just run and sink and watever, but its great to get one, i mean the biggest i got was a 2.5 metre eagly and it almost spooled me and it took 5 hrs to get it in....but yer

  • I think im having just as much fun watching this as they are fishing. I love watching this kind of stuff. I mean worse case scenario for me is I caught like a 30 pound catfish, and my dad had to sit on my rod while me and my brother pulled it out of the water. Man that fish gave us hell....and he was good too.... ha ha ha

  • the background music really gets me pump up! lmao!

  • Not dificult on catching a stingray. I usually can catch one on cut bait or shrimp. That is if the crabs dont beat them to it. They are fun as hell to catch though. Almost lost my pole to one that was only about 18" across wingspan.

If you are fishing in an area that is prone to stingrays, I recomend getting a hook remover. They tend to inhale the hook so if you dont have a remover, you will need to disect the damn thing to get your tackle back.

Take them for scallops or cut bait. Very Bloody

  • May I know what rig you use? When I first started fishing, I like to use paternoster rigs. I got my first ray, a baby one, on a paternoster rig with dead prawns (shrimps) as bait.

  • the way to catch a stingray is to get live bait i did it its so hard to pull them up though. but im wondering how in the world to you guys always catch huge fish

  • par de frescos, griten de emocion cuando lo hallan sacado y griten como hombres no como viejas histericas!!

  • how u guys catch ur stingrays?

  • You should try yelling for joy WITHOUT the falsetto...

  • 300lb fish you guys wouldnt have to worry about me picking a fight with yall..

  • if only d fishes knew they were going to be released they wont fight so hard

  • nice

  • Wow. Where the hell are you fishing? We can't do that here in communist California. Damn it.

  • LOL Florida

  • You can't fish in Cali?

  • Groupers, especially that size, in San Diego are part of the "protected" wildlife. In fact, they're thinking of banning most fishing out here... Just have to resort to eating meat, like Ted Nugent.

  • Yeah that's sad... But can we do :(

You had to born 100 years ago when there weren't any fishing rules and regulations ))

  • ang ingay mo, sigaw ka ng sigaw BAKLA KA YATA! lol

  • orgasm

  • wow!!! this is what fishing is all about!

  • man i thought fishing for sturgeon was fun but this dope. this looks way funner. must be fun to get muscled around by a big fish

  • Hello CaptBen ,

I went fishing once and i caught 3 mackerel in one go! it had 4 little fish with hooks on them on it.. that was my first time fishing. Thanks . QuirkeyJNR

  • That was a good day. Thanks for posting.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Im going to Cancun in two weeks from now...what kind of lures do i need to fish small game fish... not for marlin or shark... just smallies and what kind of fishing line... thanks in advance.... nice show!!!! Capt ben....

  • I have been to Cancul once on a Cruise but we did not fish. However a buddy of mine filmed a show in the back country there. He caught Permit, Snook, Trout, and Tarpon I believe. You can probably get away with line classes in the 10-20 pound range braid. You can also use light jig heads, jerk baits, and some topwater lures. Let me know how it works out for you.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Thanks for you're help !!! i will try those tips... and let you know how this works .... thanks again!!!

  • You should make a video strictly for going after one 600 lbs. or bigger. You should use shorter rods, bigger reels and maybe more reinforced line. These will help give you the advantage. Those fish you were catching were big, but I've seen bigger.

  • u arent allowed to pull goliaths out of the water any more can you

  • Giant THANKS to all who watch Chew On This. We just hit 4 million viewers on 2/19/09. As far as I know you all have made Chew On This the most watched fishing show in the world Online.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • CaptBen,

How deep are you fishing? It is hard to believe something that big can be in such shallow water.

  • 18ft

    Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Nice fish mate, you da man Capt Ben

    Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • well i did email them but i dont know if i can go or not,id love to tangle with those big fish, good luck to catch bigger ones.

  • Woah, my dad sure would love this stuff.

  • Awesome, Bring him down for a Fish Of A Lifetime Goliath Charter.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • do you use worms for goliaths?

  • No sir they like big baits.

  • Wow nice vide u i am ur biggest fishing fan

  • is pinfish the baby of tilapia?

  • no they are strictly a saltwater fish.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • i lov usin pinfish

  • what was that in the first part of the video? the one after the stingray, both of you were like VERY shocked

  • It was a 300 pound Goliath.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • wow goliaths are like monsters!

  • I cant wait to move to Orlando and be able to watch you guys on TV. GREAT SHOW... Happy Fishing...

  • Big thanks DirtySouth.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Hey Captain Ben ive watched most of your video's, and was just wondering since you use a wide variety of live bait and was wondering if you use one kind of bait for one area or if you found one kind bait that you preffer over another kind.

  • I like Jacks and Sting Rays the best for the big fish.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • could you please tell me the proper line to use. me and a cople buddys hooked into a couple of these bad boys a few days ago under the skyway bridge in tampa bay and i couldent land it with a pen 850 with a bridge pole. we werent prepared the first time but i want to go back but i dont know what i should use.

  • I use 400 to 600 pound line. You will need a reel that can pull upwards of 50 pounds of drag. If you don't have that you will have to thumb the spool and not let any line off of it.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • what is the best bait for grouper? And in my country , mostly are only of about 100g - 10 kg! What line is the best for a groper weighing of about 5kg?

  • You could probably get away with 40 to 80 pound braid. We like pinfish here.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Why don't you try luring?? Or jigging?

  • They really seem to like big live baits. We have caught them on lures in other areas but not here.

  • hey capt.

im 17, this is my first year starting late July this year fishing and i live in NY i want to know what can i fish for and where to go to get it since im limited to long island, since i only caught a fish once a 28inch stripe bass but im determined for another

but i only have hand-me-down equipment so whats a good brands with a reasonable price?

    your truly mark

  • Shimano has some very good spinning reels at inexpensive prices. Quantum does as well.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • wow

    you

    can

    do

    that

  • CHILL

  • seems a lil harsh 2 hook the sting rsy lyk that

  • caught a little 8lb bonita a couple months ago outside gulf shores with a sore arm and I thought I was going to die trying to pull it in (last time I went deep sea fishing I was maybe 8 or 9)...I couldn't imagine hooking something like this and being able to hold onto the rod

  • Where do u go and why wont uget hooks to make it easier to pul tem in?

  • SW Florida,

Those hooks are from Eagle Claw and the are 3 times strong hardened steel. They are huge as well.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • OHH thanks

  • i wona see a weightlifter do that pulling xD

  • Jimajim you are in luck. Just check out the show called Goliath Challenge World Strongest Man. He benches over 700 pounds and squats 1,000 pounds.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Yeah, they're illegal to catch and eat now

  • 09:42 the fish jumped out of the water hole ..lol its free

  • hw i wish i could get into the action as well hahaz great fishing

  • u cant pull a jewfish out of the water and into the boat unless the hook wont come out. the consider that it could be endangering with it left in so u should try to get it out as fast as u can. if it cant the cut the line ac close to the hook as you can. forgot to say some whales are legall to kill and eat. but there are some that are not.

  • thought u coodnt pull jewfish into your boat

  • a..h...!!!

  • i would of bbqed that bass

  • who would pull a whale out of the water???

I dont know where u live or fish but i live in florida and they wont let us pull the grouper out of the water and into the boat un less the hook wont come out. you can get arrested for pulling a whale out of the water and killing it. but in japan the still kill whales even though it is illegal.

  • Actually, whaling is legal in Japan for the purpose of "scientific research"; they bought the votes of many smaller countries at the International Whaling Commission. Most of these whales are sold as food, but some 'whale meat' sold in Japan is actually dolphin.

In Australia, there is a law against being within 100 metres (328 feet) of a floating whale carcass, because some people think it's cool to stand on them while great white sharks feed on the rotting flesh: watch?v=jp_OYGUFymo

  • Really good fish but one thing comes to mind.

IT IS ILLEGAL TO PULL A GOLIATH GROUPER OUT OF THE WATER!!!!

  • no not really its illegal to take it home u can pull a whale out the water and not get arrested for it.

  • this is great haha ive honestly never loved fishing so much haha

  • Great post Curtis

  • lol i liked that part where he is like...

"no no dont hit me come on..dont hit me" and it hits him xD

  • I love to fish but it does make me a little sad to see them hook that ray. thats why I fish only artificial now.

  • did anyone book that it says jewfish?

  • there are black jewfish in australia that fight hard

  • when you weent for the stingray a lucky baitfish jumped out of the tub

  • Does anybody have videos of people getting pulled out of the boat by fish?

  • you can see one of a dude getting knocked out by a 400 pound jewfish! get's him right on the jaw, it's on youtube

  • You can't call it a jewfish, thats a hatecrime! You're going to get done by the police! (I don't care, but thats the sickness of the world today, they will probably ban your video)

  • lol when you guys tryed to get out the sting ray a bait fish jumped out

  • these guys scream like a bunch of girlies.

  • Yup like WOOOOOOOOH!!

    And oh my godness oO

  • lol

  • I think its great to see a fisherman enjoy catching a fish like it was his first fish. Thats what I call the love of fishing!!!!

  • Hahaha, At about 9:48 the stingray freaks out and launches a smaller fish out of the well.

  • while the goliath,"jewfish", is not legal to keep, there needs to be some kind of season on them because they have come back strong and eat up alot of the local fishery. i have seen lots of 200-300 pounders hanging out on the local reefs and below deep water docks in the area. don't get me wrong, they are great to get your line tight. but they will just eat and eat and eat.

  • Tha trauma from that fight.!

Not on the fishermen but on the poor fish..

  • Are Goliaths legal to keep?

  • no they are not... in fact you are not even supposed to take the fishout of the water, cause that would be considered possecion. which is illegal.

  • u guys are lucky i live in the uk and the closest thing too a shark i can catch is a Pike lol

and common bass which is shit

but really good video man well done keep doing it

can you catch a squid just once and film it so we can all see i don't think im the only one who wants too see kthanksbye

  • hey, just thought of an idea to use if u r ever going to use two rods again. instead of tying the main lines together, find the heaviest swivel possible and tie the line to that. then get the heavest piesce of mono possible and crimp the hook to that. uses crimps for every thing no knots. hope it works.

  • This guy always gets excited!!!!

  • that looks like an absolute blast. Goliaths are my dream charter for sure.

  • if only u guys caught that ray earlier....

we would still hear a lot of CRIKEY!

  • Capt. Ben I love your show, mostly the one's with the big Goliath's. I live in Palmetto Fl. which is not too for north of where you are, and every weekend I go spearfishing at the skyway bridge and evey time I do I see Goliath's anywhere from 100-400+. Have you ever fished it and could that be a possibe spot for any goliath challenge/show in the future?

  • I have not fished there yet for them but I heard they are there. If there is a Captain or fellow Angler up there who says we have some big ones located come and do a show. I would drive right up and get one done.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Great fish and it's also really nice to see you do a proper release in the water with a lipper tool. You would not believe the number of "gaff, boat, dick around, and release" videos on youtube.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Amazing!! can't wait till you get on tv!

    one question

what time of year is best to charter for these large mouth bass(goliaths) in the pass?

  • Brad this time of year is awesome. We just had some guys fly down from Ohio and they landed a 400 pound Goliath a few Saturdays ago. Thanks for checking the show out.
