  • This is another way of saying: "fuck you cultural industry who devastates the soul of art and leave nothing but garbage, in the name of money and greed" (2.36 - 2.54)

  • Rory

  • I know why he chose this song, " im not coming back" totp

  • jonny looks like a cute little girl dancing

  • THOM'S FACE AT 3:25

    OMGG HAHAHAHA

  • Jesus Christ that thumbnail is scary

  • What year was this?

  • @batron101 maybe 2001or 2002

  • we're here for the money, money, money, money, money, money

  • @Hianndryv Haha, so sarcastic. I love it.

  • The bass line is great..........

  • my favourite radiohead song

  • He looks like Fievel, the mouse. How cute!

  • thom is so fucking weird

  • looks like he's got downsyndrome in the thumbnail for this vid xD

  • @LDNLeon lol, thought so too :D

  • reminds me of a few ex girlfriends; most with no musical taste --- 'if you'd been a dog, they would have drowned you at birth'

  • What a perfect context for this song, this venue: Top of the Pops.

  • Excelente canción e interpretación, la siente en el corazón por seguro.

  • BETTER THAN GOOD

  • It's like they've created new drum rythms, new guitar riffs, and created their very own style; as opposed to picking from the library of musical styles that are endlessly used in different variations which we usually hear on the radio. Thus, radiohead is art.

  • Ed's Tele looks like a Squier with a Fender logo... Interesting.

  • possibly one of my favorite radiohead songs, and my second favorite album after in rainbows

  • Swap Thom's guitar for Ed O'Brien's. . . this band does not need three going at once.

  • the crowd looks more confused than bored. it's totp, they probably didnt know what to think of a live band. thom looks like he hates everyone there lol.

  • @cynthiailly Agreed :).

  • Most of the turds in the audience have never experienced a live band.

  • this songs about cooking crab. thom loves crab.

  • @multieatmyshorts2010 actually he's vegetarian :)

  • wish there were more talent like these guys. beautiful depression baby!!

  • "I'm only in it for the money"

    top of pops...yeah we know

  • Love homs' head bobbing.

  • radiohead = best band of the world!

  • In a nut shell, i'd be gay for Thom Yorke. Nuff said.

  • @tehfuzzyness1 Wow. lol

  • @tehfuzzyness1 Too much said.

  • @tehfuzzyness1 33 fags are pretending not to be fags

  • mmm i love this song in studio, i think i'll need to listen more of them live, cause right know i think this version sucks

  • @elcesarpo youuuu wrong, partnah, you dead wrong.

  • @elcesarpo try searching for "knives out live at reservoir" u won't be disappointed ;)

  • hermoso

  • nobody plays live on top of pops only the best and most reveered can possibly do it ...thanks R/H

  • if biscuitchannel tries to coment on here just bhoycott him!

  • @judamann123 wow there, champ

  • this is one of my favourite radiohead videos on youtube. however the crowd doesnt look bored guy who put the video on what you on about

  • Radiohead is abstract art & always has more content than you see the 1st time. Thats why it never gets old.

  • best band of all time never to be eclipsed not in my eye's anyway...

  • best band of all time never to be eclipsed...

  • you are stupid you have an inferior brain

  • I like crying too!:D

    just joking,:p

    awesome song

  • why Thom always looks to your right side when him sings "Knives out" in 1:50... always does the same when sing this song in live performances...

  • I observed it in every TV shows too. Looking to an invisible body. Or giving signs he can't understand himself. Thom looks very deranged on this Kid Amnesiac period, specialy on this show.

"Knives out", what does it mean ? I cant find it in a dictionnary.

  • @okuhfesa he said the song is about cannibalism

  • LOL for the money for the money.. money, money money!

  • You find it funny ? I'm laughing too, look !

  • Brilliant.

  • must be great to say; fuck off cunts' all day and get paid masses for a livelyhood.Lucky but very worthy of the privelage these aces.

  • ...and they do it with utter utter class with no sense of class just ....its just truth compassion love. Not romantically stupidly but actually.Another dimension otherworldliness.

  • i think readio head is cool

  • readio head???? r u retard?

  • ...r u retard???? check yourself first bro.

  • 3:26 (Thoms Prom Picture)

  • What a shitty audience..

  • well it was top of the fucking pops wth they deserve better :o

  • its top if the pops what do you expect ??? im wondering that radiohead played there im a bit confused

  • Bieng so closely to radiohead could be one of the greatest experiencie of my life

  • Cool being with those in front of the band! that would be amazing! XD

maybe Amnesiac is not the best album from a band like Radiohead...but still have really cool songs from the in that period of experimental-stuff.

  • ...i mean taste seems irrelevant. But there yu go! Britains been killed anyhow by its monsters and greedy inhabitants.

  • cool is dead? its all tack from here on in .!

  • Well said.

  • ..thank you i thought so to even if i do say so myself because unfortunatly it seems very much so.

  • wow. is it really necessary to make this many comments about the audience's reaction...they're playing on top of the pops. what do you really expect.?

  • The audience look like they'd be more interested in watching a baked sock perform rather than Radiohead, one of the most influential, brilliant and downright amazing bands of our time performing a brilliant track. You'd think that some people would appreciate it more, but then again, it is Top Of The Pops...

  • to be fair to them it is one of their weaker and harder to love songs. But then again if i was that close to radiohead Id probably die of excitement even if they were playing chess or something

  • "one of the weaker and harder to love songs"?.. it's rather probably the most syncopic, actually my favorite!! i hear & see several layers in it, many colors & textures.. it's like 3 or 4 totally different songs, all in one! i feel uplifted when i listen to it, i jump galaxies & fly around the universe

sorry, i don't know if it's just me

  • i love knives out man, i just dont think its one of their best.

  • its not just you i feel exactly the same and i like how youve put it.

  • erm.. this song was one of my fav Radiohead song.... i dun think its weak on studio... but the live is not as good though.

  • t yorke is perfect

  • brad mehldau played it on his album. thats said enough

  • Thom, could you ask your face what it's up to at 1:52 please?

  • well, 1:50 ish.... lol! Doh....

  • Jean Reno

  • Must've urged them two or three times in this video. "Come on!"

  • yes - what a dull audience!

  • Your description of this video inspires suicide.

  • I think that Radiohead is awesome group. However, this vocal performance is a bit on the ugghh side. Usually, it is right on or thereabouts.

  • radiohead on top of the pops?!?!?!?!

  • buenisimo!

  • What a lovely phoenomena to behold.Beautiful/ironic/classy

  • Sorry video. Not only the song, which is intended to be, but the whole scene. Frozen crowd (if someone dare to call it this way), silly directed...plain. Plastic. Exactly fits the way that dummy TV shows look like. And yes, that seems to be done only for such a purpose. Unfortunately, briliant songs like this deserve much more.

(Sorry if I miss some cultural background, Im not from the UK)

  • its like prostitution......they have too........caught up in the money manking machine

  • at leat the crowd doesnt yell anything stupid out or throw knives out :):P

  • lol at thom mocking the crowd. fucking hilarious.

  • he looks well evil in this

  • i dont get it the audience should be like.... happy i mean its radiohead for fucks sakes enjoy it i mean... how ungrateful

    yay for radiohead :)

  • well they probably never heard this song before and are surprised to find out is about cannibalism. thom looks menacing on this performance giving the audience a scare:)

  • "he's bloated and frozen yet there's not point in letting it go to waste", "squash his head, throw him in the pot". it's about this plane that went down in southamerica in 1972 i think. there's even a movie about it. but yeah they had to eat their dead to survive

  • 'catch the MOUSE'

  • oh ya, the movie ALIVE

  • oh shutup, you cant tell its about cannabilism just from listening to it, stop thinking you know what's going on.

  • i know what's going on because i know what the song is about. the fact that you dont know doesnt mean is not true. read the lyrics and use your noodles for once

  • looooooool

  • haha. thats tight. i agree. just listen. stop thinking.

  • holy holy

  • that crowd dont deserve radiohead?

  • First time I heard this song it made me cry and all depressed. Because I really take it so personal. Something happened in my life that made me so much identify with the lyrics. Disease and death, false hopes and....well..clumsy doctors..that game in the clip (in dutch 'Doctor Bibber') made it even worse.

  • I had exactly the same feeling of "Nude" and "House of Cards"...it is unbelievable when something like that happens...when you find a piece of your life in a song...awesome band, perhaps best ever

  • what an amazing song

    one of my faverites

thier playing to wrong croud though

they dont look like they know what they fuck they doing thier

  • It is a bit similar to Paranoid Android, but not nearly the same thing.

On another note, this is one of Radiohead's most ambiguously horrifying songs; many of the other ones aren't so obvious but often have meanings as frightening, or perhaps even more. I thought I'd make that remark, because it's unusual for the lyrics to be so straightforward.

  • God, yes, the meaning is so frightening. It makes me shiver all over when hearing.

  • ha ha, I find the fact he's playing to an audience which is mainly composed of teenage girls quite hilarious. I wonder if any of them could distract themselves from their crushes on Justin Timberlake and their emotional issues for one second to let Radiohead touch them in a way that N sync can't.

  • esta bien feo ese cuate

  • This song is SO underrated!

  • no it's not.

me and a friend of mine think it's the best piece ever created in the history of music.

the first time i heard it i was crying after 3 seconds, and didn't stop crying and listening to it for half and hour.

  • @imslicc

Pretty much the same reaction here. It reminded me a bit of the Chills Submarine Bells.

  • this is such an exaggeration settle down

  • nasty little bugger of a song.

    Ouality .

  • FOR THE MONAY

    FOR THE MONEY!

    FOR THE MONEY!

    Love it :P

What a joker! Really good performance for a forced one too, I love it when Ed joins in towards the end. Lurrvely!

  • It's Paranoid Android in a lift??!! Why am I the only one who can hear this?

  • Yea I can hear the similarity, it seems like he's singing in the same key also

  • i noticed it too....its a similar verse chord progression...:S they are both crackin' tunes in their own right though...? agreed XD

  • I can play both on guitar, and the tabbing is very similar indeed.

  • damn, i had forgotten how much I love this song.

Please bring it back for the In Rainbows tour, Radiohead!

look into my eyes, im not coming back :(

  • Everything IN Its Right Place is inspirational

  • 15 step is happy

    knives out is very depressing

kid a, as a song, is also not that antihappy

  • "Lucky" is a happy song.

    :)

  • Radiohead are geniuses, but why can't they write a single happy song - it's such a waste of genius; I mean, where's their "Here Comes the Sun?" I feel like I've been committed whenever I listen to anything they made after OK Computer (in that album the dark theme somehow creates a warm feeling). But the rest of their albums are like a rock opera about a person descending into madness or something. Kid A is the best of these, but their subsequent output is a ode to pain and suffering...

  • Have you heard In Rainbows? Doesn't sound like an ode to pain and suffering to me.

  • I Might Be Wrong is sorta happy.

  • You think? IMO, it sounds like some sort of twisted nightmare Nazi marching anthem. It rocks, it's ingenius, but it's psycho-demented genius, like what Van Gogh was humming to himself while he was doing his final painting or something

  • well no, it's not..

  • Thom yorke has said many times in interviews that majority of their songs really under all the emotion there is an ounce of hope..

have you heard of radiohead's earlier recordings? search for their song "Happy Song"

  • I love how thom yorke is always so genuinely alienated looking. i wonder how he does it and why he plays music when he's like that. i guess there must be some power in it

  • thom moves a lot cos he has a syndrom LOL funny thing cos matthew bellamy has a syndrom too!! yet you can barely notice his and thom's....yeah but oh well nice performance!

  • I Love it, Thom's constantly taking the piss haha

  • For the money ... still theres no point in letting it go to waste lol loves his face when he says that.

  • the song is about cannibalism ? LOL

  • haha. the first stanza is him talking about TOTP. "I'm not coming back"

  • haha. the first stanza is him talking about TOTP. "I'm not coming back"

  • you lot should stop saying stuff... who cares what it means?

  • Oh and btw keep in mind the meaning of this song, sing here at Top Of the Pop:

    'I'm not coming back'

'if you'd been a dog, they would have drowned you at birth' I might be wrong, but the lyrics illustrate so perfectly what they hate in the whole MTV-TOTP crap thing...

  • its about eating people

  • Of course,

    'squash his head'

    'put him in the pot'

I just have the feeling he insits on some particular lyrics... but nvm it's just an impression... =)

  • "If you'd been a dog... They would of drowned you at birth..." Beyond brilliance.

  • Top of the Pops?! They did TOTP?! I´m shocked!

  • haha So what? It's just a gig, not a political statement.. Anyway, if you listen carefully at about 02:37 you'll learn why. ;) Better than letting it go to WASTE!

  • Thom is singing 'for the money, for the money, money, money....' (2:40)... and if u check carefully HE ONLY GOT ONE SHOE(3:28)and put his feet high enough so it could be see even if the camera was on his upper part of his body; and u see it again at the end of the song (3:51).... I think they were not so pleased to be there... Radiohead is so frakking the best (and dont forget Moryton's comment too^^)

  • thom is so inside ....

  • best song on the album by far

  • is he mumbling money?xD

  • was he depressive at this time ?

i remember myself been like that....like going crazy....

  • i think thom yorke is an artist and not a money maker....yes he made money with what he make but i don't think the money is his first value

  • actually i remember reading one time about how thom yorke went through a really depressing stage in his life. i'm pretty sure he's happy now, he's got a kid i think... but who knows. only him probably

  • It was during the Ok Computer tour. All the success hit him hard and he plunged into clinical depression. He's all kewl now though.

  • Thom was on drugs ?? I love radiohead.. but thom yorke was acting really strange in all his move....i know he is weird but he doesnt act like that usually...i don't know... i mean , his eyes are blank and shining....look strange... i want answer

  • Man it is SO encouraging and positive and right on to witness how well these guys become this music with their on-stage manuerisms. Naturally the best fuckin band alive

  • The BBC need a new vehicle for live music performances on TV.

  • d'you think what he says in between the penultimate and last verse is the reason for them playing on totp

  • hahahaha, "for the money".

    funny

  • hahaha! Awesome! It starts at around 2:37; "money, money, money, money, ..." Probably convincing himself why they're playing in that context; and "still there's no point letting it go to *waste*. [the opportunity/the money/and/or a "plug" to W.A.S.T.E *wild interpretations ensue*]"

  • who cares what a crowd of teeny boppers thinks? this is one of my favourite radiohead songs :D bet it was the last place Thom wanted to be playing that night...

  • i love the beatles. i love u2.. i love frank black. i love pink floyd.i love thin lizzy. they are all genius.. thom yorke and radiohead are in my trained and vast ear the best band ever. best live .best songwriters.. best ever

  • radiohead...u can talk about them for hours...i dunno what else to say but just...i dunno, too close to perfection,in order for it to be perfect,it needs not to be perfect...

  • is there a backing track for thom's vocals that he's singing over, or is that ed?

  • You can clearly see two people singing..

  • what the fuck are you talking about

  • I'm talking about you can see two people singing in this video so it's not a backing track you fucking idiot

  • haha you could have just aid it's ed like iasked before. chill out.

  • hahaha you could have just said it was ed singing like i asked before. chill out.
