This is another way of saying: "fuck you cultural industry who devastates the soul of art and leave nothing but garbage, in the name of money and greed" (2.36 - 2.54)
It's like they've created new drum rythms, new guitar riffs, and created their very own style; as opposed to picking from the library of musical styles that are endlessly used in different variations which we usually hear on the radio. Thus, radiohead is art.
the crowd looks more confused than bored. it's totp, they probably didnt know what to think of a live band. thom looks like he hates everyone there lol.
I observed it in every TV shows too. Looking to an invisible body. Or giving signs he can't understand himself. Thom looks very deranged on this Kid Amnesiac period, specialy on this show.
"Knives out", what does it mean ? I cant find it in a dictionnary.
...and they do it with utter utter class with no sense of class just ....its just truth compassion love. Not romantically stupidly but actually.Another dimension otherworldliness.
wow. is it really necessary to make this many comments about the audience's reaction...they're playing on top of the pops. what do you really expect.?
The audience look like they'd be more interested in watching a baked sock perform rather than Radiohead, one of the most influential, brilliant and downright amazing bands of our time performing a brilliant track. You'd think that some people would appreciate it more, but then again, it is Top Of The Pops...
to be fair to them it is one of their weaker and harder to love songs. But then again if i was that close to radiohead Id probably die of excitement even if they were playing chess or something
"one of the weaker and harder to love songs"?.. it's rather probably the most syncopic, actually my favorite!! i hear & see several layers in it, many colors & textures.. it's like 3 or 4 totally different songs, all in one! i feel uplifted when i listen to it, i jump galaxies & fly around the universe
Sorry video. Not only the song, which is intended to be, but the whole scene. Frozen crowd (if someone dare to call it this way), silly directed...plain. Plastic. well they probably never heard this song before and are surprised to find out is about cannibalism. thom looks menacing on this performance giving the audience a scare:)
"he's bloated and frozen yet there's not point in letting it go to waste", "squash his head, throw him in the pot". it's about this plane that went down in southamerica in 1972 i think. there's even a movie about it. but yeah they had to eat their dead to survive
i know what's going on because i know what the song is about. the fact that you dont know doesnt mean is not true. read the lyrics and use your noodles for once
First time I heard this song it made me cry and all depressed. Because I really take it so personal. Something happened in my life that made me so much identify with the lyrics. Disease and death, false hopes and....well..clumsy doctors..that game in the clip (in dutch 'Doctor Bibber') made it even worse.
I had exactly the same feeling of "Nude" and "House of Cards"...it is unbelievable when something like that happens...when you find a piece of your life in a song...awesome band, perhaps best ever
It is a bit similar to Paranoid Android, but not nearly the same thing.
On another note, this is one of Radiohead's most ambiguously horrifying songs; many of the other ones aren't so obvious but often have meanings as frightening, or perhaps even more. I thought I'd make that remark, because it's unusual for the lyrics to be so straightforward.
ha ha, I find the fact he's playing to an audience which is mainly composed of teenage girls quite hilarious. I wonder if any of them could distract themselves from their crushes on Justin Timberlake and their emotional issues for one second to let Radiohead touch them in a way that N sync can't.
Radiohead are geniuses, but why can't they write a single happy song - it's such a waste of genius; I mean, where's their "Here Comes the Sun?" I feel like I've been committed whenever I listen to anything they made after OK Computer (in that album the dark theme somehow creates a warm feeling). But the rest of their albums are like a rock opera about a person descending into madness or something. Kid A is the best of these, but their subsequent output is a ode to pain and suffering...
You think? IMO, it sounds like some sort of twisted nightmare Nazi marching anthem. It rocks, it's ingenius, but it's psycho-demented genius, like what Van Gogh was humming to himself while he was doing his final painting or something
