Yes, the song is pretty old since it was featured in their first Japanese album "Heart Mind and Soul". They've changed a lot since then.

The reason is that SM Entertainment, DBSK's contract company, has their way of making profitability. A lot of DBSK's musics are written by themselves, but a lot of the Japanese songs are written for them.  DBSK is famous first in Korea and then became known worldwide, but they get a lot more popular with their Japanese audience. Hope this helps.
