Sorry, I do not know when the film will be released in Mexico but I have heard it will be shown on public TV here in NYC. I just don't know when. There are some great clips on YouTube and you can go to the text portion for Tom, the director's blog. Thank you for stopping by! Sorry I cannot be of more help.
I even took my parents to see it. My mother was really upset because she believed that their music will have a bad influence on me. It all started when
I showed her a picture of Jim when he was about 24 and one when he was 27
. I still remember her face when I told her that the man about who she said
Well you will enjoy the film. The director points out a letter Jim's Dad wrote him basically telling him to forget his musical career. If I remember correctly, the director asked Jim's sister if she attended his concerts and she had not. Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. You are a long way away from NYC! All the best to you and your family, Sincerely, Suzannah
Not to my knowledge. The director has a blog. I put a link in the text portion. You can write him a question under one of his blog postings but I think you have to keep checking back to see if he answers you... Good luck. Sorry. Wish I could fly all the fans in and treat you but I can't. Best, Suzannah
Thank you. Pam died of a heroin over dose. The film flashes the letter Jim's Dad wrote and it is really crushing. I posted some links in the text portion. I have been so exhausted my brain is mush so thanks for posting details. I just posted links because I was so tired and you like the audience seemed to know everything about the Doors and Jim. The guy in front of me read all of Jim's bio -- 5 of them and was giving the director tidbits he didn't know.
Just a note: a young man from Angelika's asked me to stop filming the director. I am sure the director is glad I filmed him because he says he doesn't have a lot of paid advertising so in theory I am helping to promote his film and he did an excellent job speaking up his journey making the film.
My friend sent me this... "I remember meeting Jim Morrision in the late 60's; seeing him in very small venues, like Ondines, and the Scene and at SUNY Stony Brook. I would walk up to him and in my awe, 'I dig you man'. I mean the places were so small he was two feet in front of me, in leather, sweating...a cigarette break in front of the storefront clubs..."
what does it mean that Tom has the "Jim look" and what is it about high ranking military standing? I see in the related that some think he is still alive. Is this about conspiracy? How about Pam? I heard he was gay or maybe just liked by gay guys.....
Look at the links in the text portion and see the director w/the surviving members of The Doors. He looks a little like Jim. His father also was very high ranking in the US Military and it is clear both sons rejected their Dad's career choice and way of life choosing the bohemian path. No conspiracy and Pam's Mom inherited Jim's estate & wanted to make sure this film did not show her daughter in a negative way. Pam's Mom was upset w/ Oliver Stone's film. I do not think Jim was gay.
Paula: Click on the links in the text portion and you can see the director with the surviving Door members. He has the Jim Morrison look and both the director and Jim had very high ranking Dads' that served our the USA in the military. You can see their sons rebelled against their Dad's way of life going for the bohemian. Pam died of a heroin overdose so her Mom inherited everything and the director had to agree not to pull an Oliver Stone when covering Pam. I don't think Jim was gay.
The reason Mr.DiCillo mentioned her mother in the Q&A is because Colombus Courson, her father,is deceased;Jim Morrison's parents have passed on as well.
YouTube was doing some kind of work last night so it may have been the reason but I realized I made another brain mush typo and deleted my comment and therefore deleted yours so if you can try again and repost your thoughts. Sorry about that. Thanks for sharing any of your insights and thoughts and sorry for the difficulties. I am so exhausted I may not answer everyone but I will enjoy reading your comments .
@Smolley28 In 1975 the Morrison family sued,& won in court for half of the assets & all future royalties w/ some measure of input on future Doors music decisions but,the Coursons' retained the rights of creative control;supposedly the Morrisons' didnt want it.
Just a note: a young man from Angelika's asked me to stop filming the director. I am sure the director is glad I filmed him because he says he doesn't have a lot of paid advertising so in theory I am helping to promote his film and he did an excellent job speaking up his journey making the film.
@Suzannahartist During the 60s, 50s this country practiced censorship, with people getting arrested for nothing. Blomberg wanting to evict Artist from Union Square? Union Square was always what it was. It should remain. We cannot allow Bloomberg to ruin it. I remember all of the memorials there after 911. I walked through the whole park. This makes me want to walk through there again.
Bloomberg is pushing turning every piece of NY in to space to sell things -- commercializing everything and now he wants to do the same with artists but artist are covered under freedom of speech. I bring this up because in the film besides Jim being arrested and the goal was to shut him down -- he made it clear he did not want The Doors music used in commercials to sell items so you will notice you never have seen Doors music selling cars, etc. That was big issue Tom hits on in the film.
