The snake scene appears in the episode called Murderer's Sky.

Murderers's Sky is the last episode of Season 3.

That is why it first appears in the opening titles of Season 4

I think the snake scene is from a 2nd or 3rd season episode, and actually makes it into the intro sequence as late as the 4th season.
