  • Good one, Barry. Only thing that would've made that clip would be to remove that Class 37 from the end and replace those red carriages with green ones. Then it'd be a true Southern Region express.

  • @SatNavDan Hiya Dan, I know what you mean but, after what happened on 11-Nov at Walmer I prefer that Tangmere has the insurance of a back-up diesel. As for the coaches I do often think that West Coast Railways doesn't give a lot of thought to how their coaching sets look. They often are a motley collection of colours. Barry

  • Hi Barry another great clip, you look as though you had the station to yourself .Thanks for shraing. All the best for 2012. Dave.

  • @TheSteamchest Thanks Dave, A South-Eastern commuter train was running just ahead of 34067 so Brixton was pretty empty. Have a great 2012. Barry

  • Brixton is my favourite location for Tangmere, I've taken a dozen photos here. This video has made me dig out 3 of those pics, so now my youtube home page is made up of Tangmere at Brixton photos!

  • Great shot in lovely winter sunshine EM

  • @EMuksteam Hiya EM, It was a lovely winter's day, in contrast to Wednesday when the VSOE ran. Barry

  • I've got you Kendler! Just wait till I check my 200 miles of betamax videotapes and find you on Brixton station.

  • @KINGANDCASTLE That might take some time so you'll have to be patient.

  • @KINGANDCASTLE Oh drat. I fast forwarded to Brixton and found I was filming a race with a 4 SUB on the South London Line, so I missed you.

  • @KINGANDCASTLE That's a relief for all of your viewers. D'you really mean a 4SUB? They were all withdrawn by 1992. The only 4-car commuter units on the SLL are 465 Networker's operated by South-Eastern. Barry

  • @bkendlerA4 There's an urban myth that some of the 1980/90 SR stock is made up of 1930's 4 SUB carriages with double glazing installed. A class 455 unit is "a 4 SUB with double glazing".

  • @KINGANDCASTLE Hi. I don't subscribe to the urban myth. It's just that since the TOPS numbering came in I haven't heard those old Southern classifications. I've done a bit of research and can find no reference to 455' being called anything other than 455. Remember body-wise, 455's are the same as 317's so are a national design not Southern. Also I blooped. The Units that went in the 1990's were the 415 (4EPB). The 405's went in 1983.

  • @bkendlerA4 It's only a joke & is not to be taken seriously. The newer units are constructed differently. The old units were described as " a garden shed on wheels" by some Network Southeast managers.

  • another good shot of tangmere on sunny winters day nice one barry

  • @alanthorn481 Thanks Alan Barry

  • Excellent, thanks, Tangmere sure has been busy just lately.

  • @dickeramb Thanks for the comment. If Tangmere has been busy its not been in London. Today was Tangmere's only London run in December 2011. Barry

  • Hi Barry - very nicely done, as always. The EMU passing over the bridge in the background added an extra touch of interest. Tangmere was still comfortably on time as she tore through Paddock Wood at a good sixty, just after 1140 am. I'm glad she had "insurance" on the rear!

  • @jrdaddykins Thanks for the comment. I'm glad that Tangmere had a good run. Barry
