I've been playing field hockey for over forty years. I have never played a game on the field, only ever in goals. I have accrued over 4000 career games. I think I'm in a better position to guage whether or not field hockey is a "feminine" sport than you. It isn't exclusively a women's game at all. @hydr5 hi there. there are two reasons. firstly this would lead to another short corner if the ball was stopped from going into the goal by anything other than the goal keeper or the front face of a hockey stick. the other reason is that the ball is very heavy, travaling very fast and hurts a lot when you get hit!

If a player is forced to duck or move out of the way to avoid being hit, the rule says it's dangerous, FHD. I am aware this is ignored at high levels but a truely skillful player could score in the net without endangering any other player, as it is, they just expect a goal or a PS for their own carelessness

Many forget the dragflick is a team effort. The push out must be pinpoint, the stop perfect & then of course the majesterial dragflick. Truly an art.
