This song takes me back to Castro Street back in 1980. They played the hell out of this song in all the bars. Everybody loved this song. Although Gordon Lightfoot originally recorded this, thank you,thank you, thank you Viola for your version!!! U will be missed....RIP!

I am so very saddened by the news of viola wills passing May 06, 2009, which I was unaware of until this very day today Monday, June 21, 2010, that I cannot hold back the tears which have welled up within my eyes. Although I do in fact like the original, her (Viola Wills) version of “If you could read my mind” ALWAYS got me and those I was with out onto the dance floor no matter how tired or how much we had already danced the night away.

@LUREDADDY52 the reason I used the words “her version” in my comment is because the song “If you could read my mind” was originally composed by a Canadian born singer/songwriter named “Gordon Lightfoot” 1970 and was first released as a pop single on his (Gordon Lightfoot’s) first album 1970. Viola Wills then did the disco version of the song which was released 1980.
