  • lol when he sings!

  • 2:23 SO EPIC! XD *tears rolling down me face*

  • There is a certain level of happiness that only George can bring me to :)

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

    Epic !!!!!!

  • haha Mr. Harrison is doing the can can at 4:46

  • Omg, he is so fucking adorable :'D

  • Comment removed

  • And they say he was the quiet one. Psh.

  • Absolutely phenomenal

  • Stuff like this remind me why George is my favorite Beatle.

    Put this on dvd already!

  • he ruins the christmas play haha

  • George Harrison > Johnny Depp

  • heheh

good old George. Diamond bloke, one of a kind.

  • the original song is Harrison's song "My Sweet Lord" but Harrison performed a parody called the Pirate Song on BBC. Television Harrison closed the show performing lip-sync'ed to a previously recorded track which started with the song, and changed to a pirate shanty once Harrison started 'singing'. the clearly befuddled band stop and eventually follow along and everyone comes to join in the fun as"host" Idle frequently walks onscreen, bewildered at Harrison's performance.

  • A lot of people don't get the joke anymore, but back in the day George was sued because the Chiffons who did the song "He's So Fine" said he ripped them off to write "My Sweet Lord". The songs do sound very similar, but George insisted he had never tried to rip them off. He did lose the lawsuit though. So all of this pirate stuff is George being sarcastic. Note that he turns "My Sweet Lord" into the pirate song!

  • @randgrithr I didn't notice- now I see= it is My Sweet Lord- except now its the pirate song!

  • George... pirates... Eric Idle... I may have just died from the overload of awesome!

  • very funny- You gotta love George's sense of humor!

  • Happy Birthday George!

  • I just noticed Eric kicking with the girls. THAT was hilarious.

  • I love how the band stop playing! Makes me laugh so much

  • "You'll be able to sing in a minute

    I sing?"

    XD

  • now i understand why he went into a sea shanty.

  • So... Pirates? Really? The gimmik was that George Harrison wanted to be a pirate? It was still funny, but a pirate?

  • yes- he acted as a pirate on that show many times- and in the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour when they have those colrful outfits on george is wearing a red outfit with a red pirate hat--George makes an awesome pirate- he had a wonderful sense of humor.

  • @4FabBEATLES You're thinking of Sgt. Pepper.

  • @QuikVidGuy no- the funny part is the pirate song is really a version of George's song "My Sweet Lord" and George got sued for suposedly plagarising the song by making it to similar to something else so his pirate bit is sarcasm at the copyright business

  • Conocìa el audio y es un hallazgo el video!

  • How have I never seen this before??????

    <3 George!

  • I LOVE YOU GEORGE. YOU HAVE MADE MY DAY.

  • 2:22 always makes me laugh! Arrr, thirty pieces o' parrot!

  • 3:19 is going to keep me cheered up all day!

  • ¿alguien lo puede subtitular plis?

entiendo ingles pero es más comodo leer

    cariños:shina

  • George is so great and funny!!! Hahaha, I miss him

  • I saw this at the Beatles Story in Liverpool the other day, and had to find it on YouTube. I love George. <3 He was so handsome with amazing talent and so funny too! :)

  • Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day ev'rybody

    ARG!!!

  • Just wonderful!

  • Someone help me here. The second line George says; does he mention Elton John?

  • Sounds more like a-hay, Long John and a bunch babbeldiboo. Like in Long John Silver, you know?

  • no these are the lyrics: I want to be a pirate A pirate's life for me All my friends are pirates And sail the b. b. sea I've got a jolly roger It's black and white and vast Get out of your skull and crossbones And I'll run it up your mast With a yo-ho-ho And a ya-ha-ha And a ye-hee-hee-ho-hum With a yo-ho-ho And a ya-ha-ha And a yum-yum-jum-jum
  • Oh George and Eric are so funny <3.

    That Pirate Song is wonderful:D.

  • Wonderful George! I seriously doubt there will ever be anyone else like him.

  • And introducing George Harrison as Pirate "Bob"

    Magic.

  • Haha, I love seeing George and Neil chatting about pirates. xD

  • well, george's death has convinced me not to smoke when i get older

he got throat cancer, which he beat

and lung cancer, which beat him

  • you can get cancer without smoking you know

  • uh, yes i know

but his cancer was caused from smoking

  • @col06 this was lung cancer though and George himself said it was from his constant smoking he never could quit smoking as shown by his song "Lead a Horse To Water" (from the old saying about stuborness)

  • "But it's the second verse!"

  • Hahahah! Oh my god, I adore George xD

  • If George Harrison was alive, he'd be Jack Sparrow's dad in Pirates of the Carribean III instead of Keith Richards

  • considering Keith Richards, more or less, inspired Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow character(he said so himself), i don't see how George Harrison would be involved.

although, i'm a MUCH bigger fan of George Harrison, of course.

  • Man, this is hilarious. Two members of two of my favourite groups of all time, it couldn't be more perfect.

Love the looks George gives the camera at the end. And Eric doing the CanCan is hilarious!

  • hahaha hes all pirate-y, then his voice is all sweet and innocent.

    Happy Birthday George<3

  • Happy Birthday George<3

  • God I love George and I love Eric!!!

They both have such an awesome sense of humor!

  • Very cool Post - thank you for sharing!

  • "Well, 'up you then'!"

  • George is such a great guy ^-^

  • can't get enough of this video! george harrison is purely brilliant. i love um :]

  • "Lovely. Shove off."

  • Harrison has a great sense of humour.

  • Haha!

    "I sing?"

  • George does have a great sense of humor.

  • I *dearly* love this. Lucky Brits - Neil Innes will be doing a reunion tour with Fatso in October! They're going to play one of George's songs in their set.

  • haha George was allways the Beatle who made me laugh the most.

  • Sometimes it really sucked to be an American during the '70s, cos we never got the chance to see such delightfully funny gems like this....fuck me sideways, I'dve given my eyeteeth and left foot (traded for a pirate's pegleg of course!) to watch this when it was originally broadcast. We missed out all sorts of funny bits done by the Fabs over the years, simply because the schmucks that ran the networks did'nt think we had the intellectual capacity to get the humor.

  • Agree. Well said.

  • A lot of people don't realize what a great sense of humor George truly had.

  • No pirate sketch... he could have gone with the parrot sketch instead. ;)

Eric Idle and George Harrison - a great pair indeed!

  • @Appleheartedmoon you sold me a dead pirate.

  • The quiet, brooding, serious Beatle having a blast. The way he keeps crashing every scene, so determined to play a pirate sketch. One of the funniest bits ever!

  • well i think ringo would fare well at the sea or at least he would like it under the see

  • I mean like seriously, can you IMAGINE??? John would totally give Sparrow competition with his wit. Paul would be the romantic one. lol And Georgie would make a very happy, positive pirate... like here. :) And Ringo... I'm not sure if he'd fare well with life at sea, but who knows? He maybe the best pirate of all 4. Someday... in Heaven

  • haha, I LOVE how he pokes the man when he comes over with a 'what the hell are you doing look' on his face. lol. this is 25% of my crazy fantasy come true. The other 75% would be if the rest of the lads joined in. Brillian nonetheless though.

  • lol, I love how his leg shows on the other side of the wooden peg. ;)

  • Blankfrack?

  • OrinocoJim is a homosexual who is psychotically fixated upon me. Even though I've told him to naff off, and that I'm straight, he keeps mentioning me and following me about youtube. He's mad as a nail. Check out the comments bar on his channel. All comments made by him about me. Nutso I tell you.

  • george harrison as pirate 'bob' - this is just too adorable! my favourite beatle and python together!

  • The part where he's asking the guy if he can write a pirate sketch cracks me up. "Well, maybe next year." That was a total play on the fact the George rarely got a song on The Beatles' albums.

  • that was my favourite part... for some reason.. i don't even know why..

  • "It's the Christmas play."

    "Oh, no!"

  • If George had still been alive when they made Pirates of the Carribean, Johnny Depp would never have got the part.

  • Definitely! And if Johnny would have got the part. George would get the part Keith R. has got now...

  • I was thinkin the same thing!

And he'd probably play it better than Keef -no offense to him, but his take on the role was just a little too serious imho.

  • Right!

  • @wahwah16 George should've played Jack Sparrow's father instead of Keith Richards.

  • @TulseLuper nah. George would be a random pirate that comes out of nowhere and gets into a fight with Keith on Beatles vs. Stones

  • @wahwah16 lol

  • @wahwah16 They were actually wanting to cast George Harrison in the movies, but he passed away. That's why they cast Keith Richards instead.

  • If George had still been alive when they made Pirates of the Carribean, Johnny Depp would never have got the part.

  • He's almost better then Johnny Depp...

  • He's certainly good at doing 'im drunk so im having a little difficulty walking straight'...

  • Hehehe

  • you can even see his leg despite the peg leg. XD fantastic.

  • This is now my favorite George Harrison song!

  • "...I sing?"

    Made of awesome!

  • Yes, thank you, thank you, yes, thank you, shove off, thank you.

    excellent!

  • George as a pirate - perfect! LOL

  • Sounds like The Fratellis modelled their entire sound on George Harrison's pirate song ;)

  • lmao!!! hahahha!! oh george!!!

  • ahhh...he wanted to be a pirate so badly...

    he's adorable.

at least he got his fabby fab pirate song!

    silly little devil!

  • LOVELY!

  • I think that lead guitarist has the same kind of Rosewood Telecaster that Harrison played in "Let It Be".

  • And I know that lead guitarist too...that's Billy Bremner from Rockpile! Absolute darling of a guy who'd give you the shirt off his back~

  • The hell with Keith Richards, Johnny Depp stole his whole mumbling pirate act from George here!

  • Haha, right on.

George was the original Jack Sparrow and we all know it.

  • pirate bob= sexy. haha.

this is so random i love it!!!

  • Yarr! Thirty pieces of parrot!

  • So get out your skull and crossbones and run it up your mast!!

  • George was a big Eric Idle fan

  • AT LAST! i've always wanted to see it all.THANK YOU>

  • George! The Seventh Python!

  • are they neil innes and ollie halsall?

along with eric idle they are the rutles!!

    Very funny,playing with george!

  • George is immortal and hilarious wow!

  • Always will be my favorite musician. We love you George :) R.I.P.

  • George is great

  • Seeing this all I can think of is that Seinfeld quote "But I don't want to be a pirate" from the puffy shirt episode. LOL

  • From the trouble "Pirate Bob" had standing on his one leg and crutch, I think he may have had a little too much "YO-HO-HO and a bottle of rum!" (Just kidding--still love you, George!)

  • I love this video. I love George, but we always see him so serios. It was so good to see George being so funny. Arrrrrr mate, mighty fine pirate he does. George Rest in peace we miss you.

  • He didn't need drugs to be so great.

  • Take that, Johnny and Orlando! George Harrison was, and will always be, the coolest pirate ever!

  • argghh...no PIRATE SKETCH! XD''' huhuhu...

  • This is now my favorite George Harrison song! Hilarious!

  • Arrgh, matey. I never hear that song any more without thinking of the Pirate Song. :)

  • I don't even remember watching this , fantastic!

  • I love this video. Everytime I watch it I laugh so much, it just makes my day. George is hilarious. He always did have a way with words. And, he always got his point across. I really miss him:(

  • i totally agree with you. I can watch this over abd over. He and John, i think, were the 2 most "down to earth people". I always felt u could approach them like anyone else! Miss them oh, so much . thanks 4 posting this

  • This is so great! I have watched this at least 30 times.

  • you damn brits,,,,best humor,, KInky British,,,

Did Benny Hill get around to all your mothers,,lmao

  • I think what he really wanted to say was "get out your skull and cross bones and run them up your ass".

  • Sweet George? Oh, no, NEVER!! (And I'll wager that you're right on the nose!) :)

  • oh, DEFINITElY. :D

  • AWESOME!!!! George is hilarious!! Thanks for posting this video! :)

  • SCTV ripped this show off so much...they stole the goddamned premise...then family guy ripped off the randomness...then south park, then more fuckers fucking stole shit.

  • Poor pirate bob . . .he just wanted to be on the show *tear*

  • the funniest beatle and most peaceful

  • Simply fantastic.

  • ROFL i love George XD

  • ohhhh, neil. sigh.

  • lol I love Pirate Bob!!!!

  • all george wanted was to be a pirate *sob*

  • I'm smitten with Pirate Bob! AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!

  • Once again - George Arrison (gotta love the Brits)

  • This just goes to show what happens when two great minds get together you get some of the funniest things I've ever seen!

  • Why isn't this on DVD yet? or is it?

  • omg! I can't believe I hadn't seen this before!!! I laugh SO hard every single time I see this! gotta love george's grin in the end when he sings

  • everybody, I suggest you all see the video called "Choose what you're watching" by the new sounds of a duo called thenewno2. You'll be pleased to see what George's Son Dhani is up to these days. It's already here on youtube, check it out now!

  • I saw that video with Dhanie, Moxie. It's awesome! I just can't believe how strong that rock & roll DNA is! It's a great comfort to see how wonderful Dhani turned out.

  • of all beatles it is Goerge Harrison who is the true cutie and handsome guy. Humble. loves God. All missed his mesmerizing eyes and smile so lovely. he is truly a cutie. best lead guitarist. and underrated musician. I juts love Goerge so much. His life was meaningful.i agree with everybody that he is the real cutie and most handsome beatle. He is the best ever. BEATLES band is the best band in the world ever. their music is worth remembering cannot be forgotten. timeless and classic.

  • George should know that I would have pretty much humped him at any stage of his life..any one of them

  • lol. me too. or at least giggled and blushed.

  • Not a bit like Cagney!

  • LOL!

  • i never got to see this thanx a bunch george cracks me up

  • This is what you get when you take someone to take court for all the wrong reasons. This song was for the reason of his court trial for "My Sweet Lord" and how The Chiffons' publishing company, Bright Tunes, thought he had stolen their material for "He's So Fine". They got their paybacks properly and this was the way to do it.

  • Oh now this clip is in complete context, a running joke, go figure, thanks for posting the version that makes sense, "I'll run it up your mast" I'll try to use that in meetings tomorow, my tribute to George, hah!

  • Absolutely hysterical! I always knew George was a funny guy, but I tell ya, this bit had me rolling on the floor fer laughing!

  • I fuckin love you george.

  • hey! and you could see his leg when he turned around..! HILARIOUS!

  • This is so absolutely freaking amazing. We love you George.

  • I must have died and gone to heaven. That's the only explanation for the fabness of this video!

  • Unbelievable! Among the Beatles' many talents, their comedic gifts have been most underestimated and the one least recognized is George, the "Quiet Beatle." Hilarious! The fact that he was great pals with Eric Idle should be a big hint. And for all those who were put off by what has been taken as his "holier than thou" religious leanings, note: He's lampooning his own song to God! An amazing man...Thanks so much!

  • Haha, George was awesome! Thank you!

  • Love it.
