  • so for example you're about to hit a note in the 21st fret, and your previous note was in the 1st fret, you would have a hard time hitting the 21st fret because it is far..the purpose of the extra strings are to give you more additional notes, and some of those notes may sound the same as that on the 21st fret, but closer to the first fret.. so you wouldn't have a hard time hitting it compared to the one in the 21st fret..

    because there are different kinds of bass depending on the number of the string..

    the basic is a bass guitar with 4 strings.. but there are 5-string bass guitar.. there are 6-string bass guitar, there are even 11-string bass guitar.. serach it on youtube.. the difference is, the more the strings, the more additional notes it gives, and it makes some notes closer to other notes because there are notes which sound the same even they are different strings and in different frets.
