Reed switch? Yah, that's what the bass drum uses. You need piezos for the rest of the drums because they operate with little voltage changes, not with a switch completing a circuit. Though I suppose you could do it if you supplied your own voltage. :)
The bass drum is hooked up but it works differently than the drums. Instead of a piezo, I used a magnetic switch, the kind used doors in home security systems. The kick head has a magnet from a hard drive in it that activates the switch.
nice ...maybe ill try it...i modded my foot pedal by cutting a ordinary pair of headphones and soldering it to a momentary push button and then taped it to my drumstick so its easier for my foot
The sensitivity varies by drum. I end up whaling on them anyway when I play, so they're sensitive enough for me. :) Knowing what I know now I could make them better but they're plenty good enough for me
It took the better part of a weekend plus several extra hours while I messed around with getting the bass drum trigger right. A lot of that time was figuring stuff out so I could it a lot faster now, probably in a day.
Yeah, I've been thinking about it. I tried using a standard y-adapter with 2 drums and it they interfered with each other. I'm considering picking up a rock band 2 kit and adding cymbals that way.
I want to add rockband 2 cymbals to rockband 1 drums. Do you think you can help me with the wiring? Pm me

did he hook the bass up the same as the rest of the drums

jian2069 2 years ago 2
well lets see.
drums are loud.
rock band drums are a simulation. of real drums.
he combines real drums with the simulation. still hitting real drum pads so its bound to be loud.
its not a sound mod.

i suggest mesh heads

Nice. Very good video. Still though, I dont think I would sabotage a real set for this though.

you guys are dipshits for saying it's fake. There are a ton of people on youtube who have done this mod. You should've added cymbals.
