Hi ssrm ~ It wasn’t really a performance, I was just extemporising from memory ‘cos I loved the show and the music, [circa 1992] basically in the key of C, ♫♪♫♪ღ♥☺
Hi Russell, Very sweet tune, with interesting yet simple and pretty harmony. I like the melody when it goes into the bass strings . What kind of guitar do you play? It has a very rich and full sound, of course that's mostly you bringing the tone out of it. Thanks for sharing! Best, GR
I commented before on this, but I felt it necessary to comment again. I need to order this programme on dvd - and I was telling my wife about my remembrance of the show and what I knew about it, which wasn't much ... but I DID remember the theme song. And I remembered how calming the show felt to me...even in Texas. So I was trying to explain the premise & I said, well listen to the theme song. So I had to punch up Your version of the theme! Such beautiful playing. Thank you.
Brilliant! Great job, it's a great variation of the show's theme song! I loved the show and the music, I miss it, wish it would get another run again! Thanks for posting, God Bless!:)
Thank you so very much for this! Your version is timeless...as is the acoustic guitar. Damn fine version, if not better than the programme's version. If only you'd have sung the lyrics...I'm sure it would have been great! Thanx for posting. Take care, from Texas. - Johnny
Russell I'm getting errors messaging you so I'm here. The Bach was a molto adagio so you probably have the correct bit of the Cantata, unless there's more than one molto adagio of course. Sorry if you've actually been getting my messages and I've totally spammed your message box. Would absolutely love to hear you play that Bach I'm getting very fond of your guitar playing.
Beautiful! I think I enjoy this song even more withought the words. (For those who have never seen this charming series, it is finally available on dvd.)
Absolutely fantastic, sir. you do the song proud!

Gave me goose bumps. Loved the show and love your interp of the theme.
Your version is both plaintive and hopeful. I wonder what it would sound like on a banjo...
