So this video's interviewee is a mayor?! Suddenly, all the stories I've read of police brutality in Shreveport are afforded context. He's Louisiana's answer to Tom Menino.
well, if you werent breaking the law to begin with you wouldnt have been pulled over.
i dont think the mayor is referring to taking away rights....at first i was thinking glover is way out there but after listening i think he has the best interest of the civilian and police officer in mind. and he is right.
@bwcrackhead It's not about being pulled over for a traffic citation. Nice try at a red herring. The debate is about two things: (1) illegal search and seizure by the officer and (2) Glover's statements and policies.
Exactly what did Glover mean by "Your rights at that point, Mr. Baillio, have been suspended."
He repeated that statement 19 times, plus repeated it to numerous people who called his office, including Tom Gresham and Moon Griffon (radio talk show hosts).
@xeerex have you seen the interviews after this? he clarified his positions. im a gun advocate but at some point you have to use common sense. my dad is a cop and if he got shot because he couldnt secure some criminals weapon i would OWN THE STATE, CITY , AND PARISH. you act as if the guy wanted to steal his gun and take it home....as i pointed out to another person on here....the constitution gives gun rights to all people....how about children, schizophrenics, and incarcerated prisoners?
Ever heard of the Due Process clause of the US Constitution? That answers your question about criminals. Apparently, you need to learn facts and law and common sense.
No, you wouldn't own a thing. Criminals don't easily give up their weapons. Nice try again - you are great at red herrings. ;)
@xeerex you're an idiot. keep saying red herring....over and over again and ignore my rational comments. go ahead...keep your gun. and when the cop suspects youre going to use it i expect him to blow your head off like they did marquise hudspeth.it seems convenient to me that you ignored my second comment.
@bwcrackhead Yep - it actually is OK; however, it's against the law and that is totally different.
Besides - you're blocked now for trolling. Try a new account and I will block that one or report it as spam from multiple accounts of my own. Good night.
Save your breath on this confused individual. Why do you think he/she goes by crackhead. Also he/she did not answer your question on "Your rights at that point, Mr. Baillio, have been suspended." If his rights were suspended then why is the police required to read you your rights? "I don't think the mayor is referring to taking away rights". Well what the hell does he mean? Maybe he misspoke? Seems to be a big excuse by the Dems these days. You, however, are 100% correct!
@FW190BK True, everybody just needs to block crackhead. A search on his comments since he/she joined Youtube shows very abusive comments to almost everybody he/she replies to. @FW190BK i go by crackhead because i think crackheads are funny. i can tell you are all old , probably retired (or unemployed) men with nothing better to do.

this mayor is a fuckin idiot you can not take my rights away if i dont break the law even then the police think they can go to school for two years then just take my rights away that so many people have died to protect screw that fat fuck
I'll never go to a Shreveport casino again and I suggest the same to everyone.
Call the casinos and tell them WHY you wont return there, because they have an idiot for a mayor that doesn't have a clue about the rights of US citizens.
@bwcrackhead The state law is unconstitutional. States do not have the authority to suspend the rights of innocent people. Before someone's rights can be suspended they must be proven guilty in a court of law.
@KenMacMillan its not really suspending rights. its not unconstitutional for the man to have a bucket of battery acid in his lap while he talks with the police officer either.....but ill bet if you were the police officer you'd want to secure that bucket. its the same principle. i love my guns. nobody will take them from me, but if a cop wants to secure my gun (for whatever reason) i will let him have it for a bit......anything is a weapon anyways....one could cause damage with a knife
@KenMacMillan NO NO NO....the 2nd ammendment is clear...." right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" even while in jail too is what that says.....mr ron paul.
@KenMacMillan o yeh.....and as for it being unconstitutional....would it be appropriate to OK prisoners 2nd ammendment rights while in jail? after all....they are citizens. their freedoms shall not be abridged. sure, give the children weapons too. after all they are 'people' as stated in the constitution.
@bwcrackhead Hence the part of my comment where I said - "Before someone's rights can be suspended they must be proven guilty in a court of law." Which is allowed in the constitution. It's also why prisoners shouldn't be allowed to vote.
@KenMacMillan well there are plenty of supposed criminals in jail that have not yet been to court.....are you saying that they should be allowed to have guns until they go to court while incarcerated....i mean....it is in the constitution.....right?

This is the problem with the policy. The policy's first assumption is that if you are carrying a firearm, you are dangerous. The law does not judge people. People are supposed to judge the law. You cannot be denied life liberty or property without due process. Unless these officers are the judge jury and executioner, his little road side chat doesn't constitute due process of the law. this is just what the law says. I can't see how this mayor doesn't understand this. two words. You're fired.
In America your rights can not be suspended. Even terrorist have rights on our soil, Your rights only change. That's why we have GITMO to suspend rights.. He has always wanted the perception of the NIGGA with a BIG STICK. I'm black so I can be politically correct and say that....Does he have the right to tell you how many cars to have in your yard??He's been trying to suspend a lot of peoples rights here in Shreveport. He needs to be gone.
@RonHardy yes. it is against city regulations to have cars in your yard. thats what driveways are for. and for the record what does being black have to do with anything----you're racist. (p.s. its actually not P.C. to say what you said.....you were politically incorrect)
LA cops did so good in Katrina. Just say NOthing. No cop has any more authority than any other citizen to make a citizen's arrest or carry a weapon. Why you must ALWAYS record every conversation with gubmit, but beware illegal state law that in some states allegedly makes recording cops and politicians a crime (Illinois). This is violation of Equal Protection doctrine under the 14th Amendment, which requires if govt employees can record you with immunity, then you can record them.
Time to start Assassinating these type of people just like Mr. Baillio. and send a message that we will not be trodden over by tyranny and tyrants like them.
mayor you say you care about the people in shreveport what are you doing for them except sitting on your butt or going out to make yourself a caring person getting your picture taken you must really be a nut or just dont care if im pulled over for traffic violation who ask if i have a gun nobody does this is most bull i ever heard get of you but sir and do your job instead of dictorships
is this man for real he got to be nuts we all have rights black white etc my rights are suspended thought we all have rightswhat happan did we go in dictorship omg he should be impeach of a mayor collects a pay check does nothing must be nice this is unreal to me i must be asleep or in la la land
Uhhhh...this POWAH, uhhhh, uhhhh, that these officers have, this POWAH, uhhhn, unhh, more POWAH than the President of the United States has POWAH, uhnn, garble...POWAH..garble garble POWAH, ahem...burp! pfffart! unitelligle...Where mah donut, dammit?! Slurp, gobble gobble smack, fffart!
Somebody needs to suspend that morbidly obese gutbucket's right to wrap his big greasy paws around every donut he sees....for his own good, of course!
Ignorant, ignorant Mayor Glover. He should be impeached and removed from office for making such assinine statements. Unfortunately, the people of Shreveport are too ignorant to vote Glover out of office.
What would MLK think about this Government sellout spewing this tripe after he gave his life so this guy could even run for office? How quickly they forget, we have rigths as humans that no other human can take without due process of Law. Cops are peace officers, not civil rights supression officers.
I am Parker Ward from Shreveport. I am running for City Council District G, I will do all I can as a candidate and hope as a member of the City Council to stop the taking away of Constitutional rights.
Wow. I'm stunned. What did this man do for a living prior to being mayor of Shreveport?
When you get pulled over by the police your rights are suspended? And he TEACHES that to "his" police officers??
Wow. Just...wow. Give this guy a copy of the michael jackson memorial circus and a welfare card. It's pretty obvious that he knows nothing about civic basics.
These comments reveal how little we know our rights. Read 'Beat the Heat', learn what to do!! This guy broke every rule in the book by his too-willing answers. I HOPE you are no longer a police supporter but a PERSONAL RIGHTS supporter.
First: Do not make small-talk with cops!!
Your only question is 'Am I free to go?' Remember the cop's answers & REMAIN SILENT otherwise. NEVER offer information or you will get these results. NEVER consent to a search. Say 'I DO NOT CONSENT'
What a Mayor sounds like he is razes. So his police "Thugs" can pull anyone over just for the hell of it and then take your gun or any freedom away without a search warrant. Wow it sounds like I will NEVER go to Shreveport. It you lie there and you love freedom you should MOVE as quickly as possible. Can Mayor say High Hitler??????
I would never give up my gun to any police officer that is way beyond their rights as law enforcement to take your weapon for no reason whatsoever. This ever happens to me its going to be a fucking battleground I would not go down without a fight if local, federal or state government was trying to push up on me and take away my rights. Don't forget at the end of the day who really pays their salary!! Its you and I the tax payers therefore they work for us!!!
whats going on in this country? Things are completely out of control and its the elected officials that are out of control. This mayor is talking out of his ass!!
Guys I live in Shreveport. I heard about this tonight. Don't know about yall but I carry one on me just about everywhere. This city was rated one of the top cities for crime. THAT'S why we carry guns on us. Because of scum lurking in the parking lot of your favorite walmart. The police should attack the law breakers not the abiders. For god sake isn't your vehicle an extension of your home? It's like the citizen is automatically a threat.
bouj2 - you are confusing what is required by law and your rights as a citizen. Answering truthfully about weapons is one thing - illegal search and seizure is a whole different ballgame.
We will be posting the surveillance video of the traffic stop soon. Again, this is about the issue of (1) illegal search and seizure and (2) the mayor's huge misunderstanding of state law and federal law.
The caller should have called the police chief instead of the mayor. It appears what the mayor is trying tom say is a law enforcement officer has the authority to stop and detain anyone in the scope of his / her duty. Once stopped by an officer, a person does not have the right to refuse to give license, registration to the officer, a person does not have the right to refuse to stop the vehicle. You must comply with the officer and if asked if you have any weapons you should answer truthfully.
That is true if you are a subject of the United States. Haveing a drivers license makes you subject to commercial rules (called statutes, not Laws). Americans have been lied to in believing they must subject themselves to the rule of these tyrants, it is not true, I am sovereign I am born with inalienable rights that cannot be taken or given away. All US Citizens are peons and slaves to the corporate government. Sorry Citizen, you are little more then property to be used.
I heard IN is latin for temporary. If that is the case then you, like I, have un-a-lien-able rights. Though I have heard the founding fathers used it spelled both ways. Could you tell me your thoughts on this? Thanks for any info ahead of time! =)
BRAVO VonHelton! BRAVO! The truth! Government cannot control what it did not create. Government Creates a Legis Persona, which is an Identity (which can be stolen) a Human can be Kidnapped but not stolen. The second you claim the IDENTITY (DOB, name, SSN) you tell them you are a PERSON and they have jurisdiction over that Person as they created it. Never carry ID, never give your DOB, they are lies and fabrications of the Government, not the truth of your creation.
So this video's interviewee is a mayor?! Suddenly, all the stories I've read of police brutality in Shreveport are afforded context. He's Louisiana's answer to Tom Menino.

Uhmm I don't understand why all of you keep calling him a mayor. What he is, is a tyrant.
Galen1972 2 years ago
@Galen1972 he is stating the law.....not very eloquently but stating the law nonetheless.

The cure for this kind of incredible ignorance is a federal lawsuit. Huge damage awards get folks' attention re: the rights of citizens.
Hit this kind of ignorance in the pocketbooks.

Ignorant, ignorant Mayor Glover. He should be impeached and removed from office for making such assinine statements. Unfortunately, the people of Shreveport are too ignorant to vote Glover out of office.

This mayor has a god complex and is wrong on so many levels. He thinks he has power that he does not.

What would MLK think about this Government sellout spewing this tripe after he gave his life so this guy could even run for office? How quickly they forget, we have rigths as humans that no other human can take without due process of Law. Cops are peace officers, not civil rights supression officers.
marshallone 2 years ago 2
It may have to do with the definition of "rights", but NO - all your rights are not taken away when a police officer stops you.
If the mayor truly believes this he should be removed from office.

the correct answer is i have nothing illegal in my vehicle officer or just refuse to say anything

Glover is an Un-American son of a bitch who needs to rot in prison for establishing an unconstitutional police state in Shreveport.

I am Parker Ward from Shreveport. I am running for City Council District G, I will do all I can as a candidate and hope as a member of the City Council to stop the taking away of Constitutional rights.
confederateoutl 2 years ago
Dumb fat moron.

Oceanno69 2 years ago
I would never give up my gun to any police officer that is way beyond their rights as law enforcement to take your weapon for no reason whatsoever. This ever happens to me its going to be a fucking battleground I would not go down without a fight if local, federal or state government was trying to push up on me and take away my rights. Don't forget at the end of the day who really pays their salary!! Its you and I the tax payers therefore they work for us!!!

whats going on in this country? Things are completely out of control and its the elected officials that are out of control. This mayor is talking out of his ass!!
CHOBBSC6 2 years ago
Guys I live in Shreveport. I heard about this tonight. Don't know about yall but I carry one on me just about everywhere. This city was rated one of the top cities for crime. THAT'S why we carry guns on us. Because of scum lurking in the parking lot of your favorite walmart. The police should attack the law breakers not the abiders. For god sake isn't your vehicle an extension of your home? It's like the citizen is automatically a threat.

by the way - Robert did call the police chief. He never called back.
xeerex 2 years ago
bouj2 - you are confusing what is required by law and your rights as a citizen. Answering truthfully about weapons is one thing - illegal search and seizure is a whole different ballgame.
We will be posting the surveillance video of the traffic stop soon. Again, this is about the issue of (1) illegal search and seizure and (2) the mayor's huge misunderstanding of state law and federal law.
xeerex 2 years ago
The caller should have called the police chief instead of the mayor. It appears what the mayor is trying tom say is a law enforcement officer has the authority to stop and detain anyone in the scope of his / her duty. Once stopped by an officer, a person does not have the right to refuse to give license, registration to the officer, a person does not have the right to refuse to stop the vehicle. You must comply with the officer and if asked if you have any weapons you should answer truthfully.
bouj2 2 years ago
That is true if you are a subject of the United States. Haveing a drivers license makes you subject to commercial rules (called statutes, not Laws). Americans have been lied to in believing they must subject themselves to the rule of these tyrants, it is not true, I am sovereign I am born with inalienable rights that cannot be taken or given away. All US Citizens are peons and slaves to the corporate government. Sorry Citizen, you are little more then property to be used.
marshallone 2 years ago
I heard IN is latin for temporary. If that is the case then you, like I, have un-a-lien-able rights. Though I have heard the founding fathers used it spelled both ways. Could you tell me your thoughts on this? Thanks for any info ahead of time! =)
rugrat54 2 years ago
It means your rights are not temporary, they are permanent. They come from an unnamed "creator", as outlined by the Declaration of Independence.
Govts *do not*, under any circumstance, have the right or ability to take your rights away.
The govt is not "god".
VonHelton 2 years ago 12
BRAVO VonHelton! BRAVO! The truth! Government cannot control what it did not create. Government Creates a Legis Persona, which is an Identity (which can be stolen) a Human can be Kidnapped but not stolen. The second you claim the IDENTITY (DOB, name, SSN) you tell them you are a PERSON and they have jurisdiction over that Person as they created it. Never carry ID, never give your DOB, they are lies and fabrications of the Government, not the truth of your creation.
marshallone 2 years ago 4
I meant the "IN" prefix vs the "UN" prefix.
Any info on this to either of you?
Thanks again for any info passed along. =)
rugrat54 2 years ago
You are correct, the origninal was UN-alieanble, meaning cannot be taken or given away. Inalienable does not mean the same thing in legal terms.

Thanks. =)
