UFO's? seen from New Plymouth,Taranaki, New Zealand

HIya. any idea who one should report a sighting to in NZ? My husband and I witnessed something very strange 17th Sept 2011 5 or 6 bright orange lights in a triangle formation. We went over all possibilities but they were unexplanable! Would love to know if others saw them.

Damn i saw the same lights around the same time in Hawera i was outside talking to the GF while she had a smoke. they would move then come to a complete halt after about 5mins of doing that they went south light speed or something i mean they took of fast..

Nice clip, Loads of Ufo sightings over England this New Years too, all reports are similar. I remember seeing something like this in Tauranga in 2000

I did see a lantern on new years eve, nearly went directly overhead, you could tell there was a flame burning, surprisingly high too. The lights in this footage were much further away and did seem much brighter than the lantern I saw. Although I think they are most likely lanterns. The local newspaper reported that 21 lanterns were let off in this area. They also mentioned a hunter who got a new pig hunting torch might have caused the many lights in the sky..now that doesn't cut it.

Tralee co kerry just after midnight...saw 2 bright orange objects moving in the sky....traveled towards me and then in an upwards direction....surely to large to be lanterns and moved too purposely...but i thought to slow to be a shooting star......

just saw the same thing about 12:30 tonight. about 2 or 3 moved a long the sky right above me really fast and as soon as they disappeared to my right more would appear from the left and do the same thing, really freaky.

you also have whales beaching themselves in that part of the world...is it due to ufos being in the water out there making some sort of underwater base ?....see my ufo research videos on youtube...scarey stuff -- Derr

they say on all sites it is just a lil lantern thing / a paper bag with a candle under it to make it rise well 1....i dont think a candle is gonna be that bright that high up they would of blown out long b4 they got that high and i just think it is another 1 of thows sneaky cover ups who knew fireworks / lanterns could go into a tactical formation with out being controlled :)

at first I thought they were flares set off, a "local" Xmas prank, but when the reports came in from all over I became a bit curious..I would love to see a chinese lantern at night as a comparison. did we miss international chinese lantern week or something?? I don't think these are lanterns, but if they are, they will get banned in NZ very soon.

On the 24/12/09 around 10pm ish - Flaxmere, Hastings, New Zealand - we saw firstly, 6 bright orange lights..stationary at first, then they moved into a triangle formation & travelled upward together...and when they reached the highest point but were still just visible, it seemed like they went through or behind something out of sight

. Before they completely disappeared though, another 4 appeared 1 after the other..much larger as if they were coming up from somewhere!..and within 2 minutes..had reached the same destination as the first 6..

And by the way, next time you see these...keep an eye on them, you wil see them disapear...or "burn off" because they are freaking chinese lanterns. I know because I have used them before. And just think about this..why would ET's travel light years throughout the galaxy to simply fly in our atmosphere and then make the long journey back across the galaxy. Think about it. Some websites reporting now these may have been "a type of firework", but these lights were also seen in Tauranga and out to sea, this means that they must have been over 332 km / 206 miles away, and the question is...how high must these lights have been in the sky to see these from New Plymouth??

These lights have now been reported in different areas over New Zealand in the last few days. I have heard the NZ airforce is in contact with the US airforce over these sightings, I will post more as I investigate further.

christmas day between 5:45 -8ish over north glasgow iseen at least 7 they were seen also in other cities and towns across britain definateley not a firework or a lantern
