You said those are two 56-pin USB connectors, aren't those mini-PCI Express?
If so, why can't at least one of these mini-cards be put into a Dell or HP laptop with the compatible connector?
I'd guess that these mini-cards have protection against them working in other laptops right?

How is this any more open than say the EEE PC or the MSI Cloud? Do you foresee companies allowing consumers to replace these modules themselves, or "closing" the open book with warranty stickers?

you can download the CAD files of the case and of course you could change it...
these files are open source and thats why the book is called Openbook
