  • Wes Craven is the real Freddy because it comes from his own intuition and personality. Mr. Englund just happens to do a better job interpreting this character.

  • If i looked up to any film maker wes is the one =)

  • the song dream weaver bought me here due to it was his inspiration to freddy Kruger

  • Dear Wes, SCream 4 sucked ass!!!!!!!!!! Your losing it old man...time for me to take your place

  • @nyjet2210 You have nothing to show.... SLAP NUTS!!!! KEEP DREAMING!!!!

Go stick it in another lens, since you are poster boy for a wet dream!!!!!!

  • Bright guy.

  • I look up to him! I loved his new My Soul to Take movie. Can't wait for Scream 4!

  • wes craven always reminds me of some sort of werewolf from the 40's

  • I am so excited for Scream 4. Woo-hoo!

  • I think people forget about Red Eye of all his major movies, when that one is the most rightening and intense to me. Considering the idea of taking fear to an airplane and the way everything pulls together. I just think people overate other movies over Red Eye, and it's def one of my favs.

  • wes craven one of the greatest filmmakers of all time

  • Hi plz pick Shane Dawson for scream 4 and we wont have to kill u :P

  • Shane Dawson FTW!!!

  • Ain't that cool? In the course of this interview, Craven brought up a trip to Africa and the things and ideas he brought back with him to the States. I would hope anyone would feel he is a thoughtful man. I know I do. Also, his strict religious childhood and teen years as well as a father with a horrible temper probably provided ample ammunition in making a movie like last house on the left in the 1970s

  • last house on the left(1972) is distubingly great and scream and its sequel are amazing to view so much fun! haha

fuck im gonna go rent these brb

  • Wes Craven & Tim Burton, Are Pure Genius!

  • nice director!

  • Wes Craven, is my favorite director out of everyone. He has a good personality, down to earth guy and makes one of the best scary movies ever. He did great on Nightmare on Elm Street. Horror films wont be the same without him once he is gone. Thank you Wes, for everything!

  • love this guy"!

  • Not trying to insult the man or anything.. but why is it every time I see Wes Craven.. I think of the wolf man or those 1940s-50s styles how they sorta did the wolfman.. except without the tan lol.

  • Most of his films are amazing. Scream is My favorite movie. The people under the stairs is one of the most original movies i have ever seen. Defenetly one of the best filmakers ever.

  • Everyone's got an opinion, which is fine. But I'm confused. I'm guessing you hated Craven before you viewed this video, which begs the question.....why did you click on the link to this video in the first place? Strange.

  • @bsmovieman WES CARVEN , GEORGE ROMERO , JOHN CARPENTER , SAM RAIMI , TOBE HOOPER are the best horror directors ever

  • yeah, bsmovieman has a point, why watch if u hate him?

  • Dude hes is the best of all flimmakers in the horror part he made one of the best films like last house on the left, night mare on elm st Hill have eyes and people under the stairs hes is on of the best and they remade most of this films because they were great that why they remake films and hes on on the of the great film makers

  • Wes Craven is the Legend in the horror movie makeing industry Keeep your brillant movies comeing in and keep thoes Dreams alive Uncle Wes.

  • DREAMS? you have some crazy dreams uncle craven.

  • I thought about replying to this with some witty comment about learning to fucking spell and not sounding like a total jackass, but it's easier just to block you.

  • Ok look, if you can go out and prove that you can better Wes Craven, then you can slander him with credibility. Until then you're just someone who doesn't like his films.

  • @mameluk89 Quit bangin' your mother, and you'll be happy.

  • A Nightmare on Elm Street and Last House on The Left (originally titled Night of Vengeance) are the best two films he did...

  • Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes, Serpent and the Rainbow, and People Under the Stairs are his best films.

  • the directors that make the best horror films are wes craven, john carpenter, david cronenberg, and george a. romero

  • SCREAM I is the best HORROR FILM EEEEEVER!

  • best horror SPOOF ever.

  • stfu u epicurean! pff

  • do you know what that term means? And why stfu anyway. It is a spoof, that wasn't a criticism.

  • Not T. Hooper. He is not the best. Even though TCM is brilliant and Poltergeist rules, the rest of his career is stale.

  • i agree not all of his films are as good as tcm

  • THE TRUE HORROR FILM CULT GOD FUCK YA also it was dream warriors that actually made the most movie of all time and beat out many others being number one in box office concsecutively. thats right freddy killed other films

  • Wes Craven, John Carpenter and Alfred hitchcock and Toby Hoper are the best horror directors ever

  • Sean cunningham?

  • They sure are!!!!!

  • @sexydanny21awesome

    Argento??

  • @sexydanny21awesome And don't forget George A. Romero!

  • @sexydanny21awesome Don't forget George A. Romero! And Lucio Fulci is another master of the genre.

  • @JeffTheNorse and sam raimi

  • @JeffTheNorse sam raimi and dario argento

  • @JeffTheNorse Isn't he doing funny movies? Zombie Eat Eat

  • @sexydanny21awesome James Wan is probably one of the best "Modern Horror" Directors out there these days!

  • He does seem very interesting. I'm working on a tribute to the Freddy Krueger character, and I may include a short clip from this interview at the end.

  • Let me help you out on some info for your project Wes Craven named Freddy Krueger after a high school bully that beat him up called Fred Krueger also he got the idea for Freddy Krueger from a thing read about in the paper about kind dieing while haveing a nightmare also when was 7 year old boy there was an old man that went up his window and scayed the crap out of him so told brother and when his brother came back a bat he was gone this is what all made Freddy Krueger

  • Thankyou but I already finished the video, I decided not to use that clip.

  • i would love to sit down with this guy and have a converstation he seems so interesting :) i love his work a nightmare on elm street part one rocks

  • I agree. Very knowledgeable about a lot of the business.

  • I loved Red Eye but to lesser extent I liked Cursed.

  • It's interesting to hear the perspective of a director. Thank you for posting this.

  • Wes Craven is a great film maker and John Carpenter is a Fantastic Film maker.

  • Starman, Halloween, The Thing(This film is better than ANYTHING craven has ever done or will do) Elvis, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York, Assault on Precinct 13.

Hills have eyes 1&2, Last house on the left(terrible film aside from the 'woods' scene) Nightmare on elm street(overrated B movie) Deadly Friend, People under the stairs, Shocker

Carpenter is Brando, Craven is Keanu Reeves

  • remember that craven made the scream trilogy that was a total box office!!!, but i prefer carpenter.

  • John Carpenter is a better director than craven is, PERIOD. He has a better body of work, he's worked in more genre's etc. Just compare the filmographies, Carpenter has Golden Globe and Academy award nominations to his credit and his movies are from a technical perspective, FAR superior to craven's.

  • You can tell Wes reads Nietzsche, Freud, and/or Schopenhauer.

  • You're comparing a master like Craven to Cronenberg or Lynch? Then again you probably shouldn't be taken seriously since you can't seem to express yourself seriously.

  • You obniously haven't seen last house on the left.

  • John Carpenter is nowhere near as visionary as Craven is. Why mention him?
