When this came out I was 10 and it made me wish that The Matrix was real so I could do this and inspired me to start taking the anime I drew and the art I did seriously and work at it so I could make something like it one day.

Now I am older, I'm more cynical, and everything else that comes with being older but watching this part of this movie still astounds me and makes me feel 10 again.

Also, I still haven't made anything that will compare to this.

Yeah the Matrix is posing as a real-world only in their minds. But the Matrix is an illusion that is not perfect and Humanity is trapped within its programming like a free sourced video game. A simulated reality only real in the minds of the humans who are living unknowingly living as batteries in the real world of darkness of the machines. Its interesting it sucks that they never made a Matrix 4 but the Matrix Online survives as a sequel.

The story about this is just showing what they called "Red Pills".Red Pills were people within the matrix that either Conciously,physically,found things wrong/glitches within the matrix shortly ther after a lot of them would get killed off by agents to preserve the reality of it all unless rebels could free them.somthing i wish they would have highlighted more in the movies after the first one. just some info for those of you that may not know..

I thought that Redpills was purely a term for those who had chosen to leave the Matrix (coined from the red pill trace program which helped free them from their pods), while Bluepills were those who had either refused to separate from the Matrix or who had never had the opportunity to choose in the first place. And the Redpills had to be careful about exploiting the Matrix when Bluepill witnesses were present, both to avoid negative reactions from the Bluepills and to avoid attracting Agents.

And shielding the nature of the Matrix from the Bluepills was more theory than practice, because heaven knows how many player-run Redpills had nothing against landing right in the middle of a crowd of Bluepills and Hyper Jumping right back out of them. You may be right.The matrix online could possibly be more informative than my source.I was playing "Path Of Neo" and there were three differant people you had to retrieve from the Matrix.The missions were labeled under Redpill rescue before they even had the oppurtunity to make the choice...Hmm BTW I wish I could have played M. There were some missions like that in MxO too; they were called Redpill rescues because the people being rescued were Bluepills who had become aware of the Matrix or otherwise were good prospects for becoming Redpills. So in order to ensure that these Bluepills could become Redpills, you had to fetch them and lead them to an extraction point with a Zion team waiting to give them the whole Red Pill/Blue Pill choice and immediately extract them if they took the Red Pill.

Of course, you usually had to fight through a ton of Exiles, Cypherites or Machine operatives who were trying to drive you away and keep the Bluepills "asleep" (or convert the Bluepills to their own cause, in the case of the Exiles).

Some MxO missions involved self-substantiated Redpills and all of their problems, and there was even one mission where you were provided with a blue pill and a red pill, and you had to track down a prospect and give him or her the big choice. And then the Redpill would pop up in a later mission, thank you for saving him/her and give you some back-up for the rest of the mission. Filling Morpheus' shoes for once was pretty cool. :-)

The Matrix Online was a real gem. It will be missed. :-(
