You don't have to bend over. Just raise the grill on the tripod or place it on top of a grate with fire under it.

What would you modify? It can be adjusted as high as you want it, just expand the tripod width. If you want a perfect cooking surface without bending over, place the cast-iron on a hot grill. You can always buy a spatula that expands to whatever length and stand and flip :). This is a Maine product. Maine is known for products that last a lifetime.
