Very nice tone and melodic playing (2 thumbs up). I have the exact combination of pickups in my recently acquired 1993 PRS Custom 24. I played one gig with the stock pickups; they were ok. I put these babies in the guitar and it came alive! I typically play through a Mesa Boogie 5/25 Express amp. This is my second set from Jim. I have an identical set in my Les Paul R9. Years ago I used to use a Roland 60 mini cube with a vintage D-120 JBL speaker; sounded like yours. Great combination.
Excellent tone! Thinking about same combo in my PRS Custom 22. Have you ordered pickups with short leg baseplates? How do they sound in high gain applications?
Hi, great post: Let me ask you 2 questions...did you order a regular spaced humbucker or an F-spaced humbucker for the bridge positionn? Did you hear a significant difference by changing the speaker in the Roland Cube? Was it easy to fit the JBL speaker in that cabinet? I do have a custom 22 and a Roland Cube 60, was thinking about those 2 changes as well. Please let me know...
Damn man, I've been trying to get a sound like that out of my PRS CE24 for a year and a half. I'm emailing WRC immediately, I saw on their website that they mostly deal with guitars with standard size humbuckers, i'm hoping he will consider making a Godwood with a wider pole spacing over a standard humbucker to accommodate the wider string spacing on my tremolo. Nice tone! Rock on!
Shayne proud of you for doing this ..really cool ..I think we talked about these pups ..maybe maybe not ..I put a set of these in David Hicks Les Paul the Betts set ....anyway great playing ....
I yanked my dragons out in my 22 and put some wcr's in there many years ago............No comparison!!! Now, I'm not so limited and it's just more woody and versatile. Good to see someone else enjoying it!!
I find the stock Dragon IIs just as good personally. I have been through all the boutique winders and ended up back stock. Too much hype and voodoo with these pickups. Sounds sweet though bro.
I have 2 les pauls equipped with WCR's best thing I ever did, Fillmores in one and dark bursts in another. I thinking of putting goodwoods in one of my prs's , costly yes but god the tone you can get. every note as clear as bell, Very good demo here proves that
I'm very satisfied with these pickups. They are a little pricey but I have had a lot of people tell me how good my tone is - and that's what it's all about, right!!!
THE PRS Custom the keeley....mostly the WCR's man.....how do they sound now that u have them broke in? I've been thinking about a set of them for my 72 Les Paul.
