  • So I left my ipod out in the sun and the screen went funny and doesn't work, the image comes up but is light-almost white. the home button and everything works, so I'm just replacing the screen. Am I repairing it correctly? It seems to just be a problem with the screen, right?

  • @kails88 Sounds like only an issue with the LCD screen. This is a fairly common problem if left in the sun, however motherboard damage is also common (yours does not sound like this, if everything else is functioning properly).

  • how much is a screen not the touch

  • @mrsmilly12345 Current prices of our LCD & Touch screens can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @mrsmilly12345 dude just buy it on ebay , they rip you off BIG time for the parts

  • i am going to replace the touch part on my ipt, do i need the rubber thing around the screen when i replace it. i will buy the complete screen thing for 39.99 in your store. i need answer fast cuse i will order today

  • @MrFlygutt If buying the full touch screen assembly, then no adhesive nor mid frame will be required, as these are pre-attached.

  • if i have a new digitizer and screen because they were both racked, do i still have to take them apart?

  • @houseofpotatoes Not sure I understand the question. You should not have to take anything apart except what is shown in this video if doing a touch screen replacement.

  • If the screen isn't responding because I dropped it, would I need to replace the LCD and digitiser

  • @mikejaxer In most cases no. If it is just the touch screen digitizer that is not responding it is possible the connection became loose. This would be the first connection in this video. If that connection seems fine, then a replacement touch screen would be suggested.

If the display (LCD screen) is damaged, a replacement LCD screen would also be needed.

  • Lol weird, spell check corrected usable to intuitive? That's new.

  • I dropped my iPod the other say and the screen cracked, it's still usable and the touch response is intuitive still so would I need to replace the glass, the LCD screen or what?

  • @weskerslonglostbro1O If only the outer glass touch screen was cracked then you will just need to replace the touch screen digitizer. If the image behind the glass screen is damaged you will need the LCD screen. Both are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @weskerslonglostbro1O I'm pretty sure it is not necessary to replace the screen.

  • For the tools needed and the screen, about how much do you estimate it will cost, and how about the screen alone? You can private message me if you want.

  • @rsn00b4life Feel free to take a look at our current prices at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Do you all sell the prying tools in a package? or could you tell where to buy those exact ones?

  • @ladiyesman472 We do sell sets of safe open pry tools, as well as many other alternatives. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • I replaced my digatizer which i bought from you last year when I cracked my screen to my iPod touch 3. Worked great until I RAN OVER my iPod tonight. Amazingly, it turns on but I can't unlock it. Do you think I can replace the screen and midsection or do you think there may be more wrong with it? Thanks!

  • @rebeccasv Could just be a damaged touch screen. Difficult to say without seeing it. If it can be read by iTunes, and the display looks good, then sounds like you should be able to just replace the touch screen.

  • Oh and how do i know if i need the screen or the LCD one

  • @sfogation We are currently unable to provide repair services on the iTouch 4G, as we are a tech short. However we do have a detailed guide on the screen replacement available in our channel. When it comes to the 4G, the touch screen digitizer and LCD screen are fused together, making replacing only a single screen very difficult and dangerous. However we do offer the screen assembly which is a much simpler repair. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Can i like send you my white ipod 4g and if i can how much will it cost me

  • You could just use a guitar pick for your "Pry" tool. Protip ;)

  • @Chrisxantixemox Yes, great tip!

  • Ohh im crying like a bitch now ! lol, my 13 year old brother had a ipod touch 4g and his screen cracked...a few weeks ago, and I told him now wheres your ipod...he said in the trash...the nigga threw it away cuz it had a cracked screen FOR FUCK SAKE ! I was gonna buy it off him too ! It worked it just had a cracked screen...god damnit !

  • @NotoriousNZ Did you reread my comment and decided to remove yours ? =)

  • @308beatZ Yes lol. yes i did

  • @NotoriousNZ =)

  • If you just replace the digitizer with a new one how to you usually put it back on the iPod? just glue it together? Or is there screws?

  • @xrubylovesastonx Yes the touch screen digitizer will be attached to the mid frame by adhesive which fits snug in the frame.

  • where did you get the tools?

  • @chamahuii All tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com under our "Repair Tools" section.

  • @RepairsUniverse the problem is I live in luxemburg.. that s near france and belgium and germany can I ship it to my place??

  • @chamahuii Yes, we do ship to Luxemburg. Feel free to check out our international shipping policy for more info. This can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • i kno how to do it but where can i get a new glass for the ipod??

  • @nanorodriguez10 Replacement screens can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Will i be able to remove the screen from a Cruz Velocity Micro tablet the same way?

  • @TheLoneFlutist We are unsure, as we have not yet preformed repairs on a Cruz Velocity yet. Many are very similar though. Removing the touch screen from the frame is the same on most devices, we would just suggest heating it up. Check out some of our other tablet videos for a better idea of how others are taken apart.

  • I'm tearing into an Ipod touch 4th gen to replace the Home Flex Cable. I understand how to disassemble the unit, but i dont understand how the home flex cable mounts. It looks like it has 4 holes in the corners. Does it screw down? or pop onto some pins? Thanks.

  • @daileyfamily1 No screws, just pins to hold it into place.

  • Comment removed

  • **edit Remove the "What is" from the previous Statement/question I just posted plz tyvm I started to ask a different question and forgot to backspace it sorry about that

  • @ImdaBLUR I know it is possible, however not really suggested. At the current prices of a replacement screen it is hardly worth the effort. However, if you choose to attempt separating the digitizer, you will need heat and a lot of patients. We highly suggest just replacing the full touch screen digitizer - these are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • WHat is I have a Good Digitizer screen but the jack is f*cked off and I have a cracked Digitizer screen and the Actual digitizer (not the glass the little touch receptor in between the 2 pieces of glass that make up the digitizer) is still good Is there a way to remove the bad one from the good glass digitizer screen and take the one from the cracked one and put it in the good glass?

  • I replaced my digitizer but nothing moves when I glide my finger across to unlock it. What did I do wrong? Please respond ASAP!

  • @khilger24 Likely a connection issue from the touch screen flex cable. I would double check the connector and be sure it is fully in place.

  • im confused .my 2nd gen itouch's screen has scratches all i need to get is the digitizer witch is just the glass replacement right? .and another question why do you charge so much than ebay, for ebay their digitizer's (glass) is like 7$.......your pricing doesnt matter .il pay 20$ but just a curiosity

  • @LoneWolf3061 Correct, if your outer glass is scratched you will need to replace the touch screen digitizer. Our replacement digitizer are OEM parts, so they are higher quality than most aftermarket screens you will find on ebay.

  • @LoneWolf3061 i have an 1g ipod touch and for nothing in the world i would give it away

  • does this method work on 1st gen

  • @mecnics Yes, the same basic process works on the 1st generation, although there are a few differences. The mid frame on the 1st gen is different, as is the home button and home button flex. However, removing it from the touch screen will be the same process. We have a video specifically for the 1st generation you may find useful in our channel.

  • Is there a service from apple to do it for us?

  • @Lasers102 Apple does provide this service, however they charge ridiculous amounts out of hope you will upgrade instead of repair.

  • hi i have a question can i use an ipod touch 3g digitizer on a ipod touch 2g

  • @canverser Sadly no, the connections and flex cables are different.

  • Can I Put those Clip Back Together???

If I Have a White Digitizer Can I replace it???

    (White Screen like 4th)

  • @SteveenChikitowx It would depend on what generation you have. If you have a 4th generation we suggest replacing the full screen assembly - as the screens are fused together and difficult to separate without causing damage. The process on the 4th Gen is quite a bit different than this video shown. This is for the 2nd and 3rd.

  • If I Have another Screen Digitizer (The first thing you Pull out)

(I don't know how to explain My Self)

With The safe Thingy you pulled Out what For me is The screen..

Can I put back That screen...

  • Could I do this on my 3rd Gen 64 gb iTouch?

  • @RiceWillPwnYou Yes, the same process is used on the 3rd Generation.

  • Out of curiousity us it still the same with the I touch 4th gen? Also where did you get the tools needed to fix it?

  • @pVVwMW2 No, the iPod Touch 4th is quite different than previous generations. Apple fused together the touch screen and LCD screen, making a single screen repair very difficult. Repair tools and replacement parts can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • is the same with iphone 3gs?

    tnx

  • @pop23652 Yes the process is nearly identical.

  • He sounds like the Auto Glass guy.

  • Yea buddy!!!!!

  • thumbs up if u dropped urs on christmas

  • Does the Screen come with tools? (:

  • @Shoshana01 Our replacement screens all come with a free safe open pry tool. Other pry tools, adhesive, and complete tool kits are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • The lower middle right hand edge of my iPod 2nd Gen screen flexes sligthly when pressed, and it is also slightly up compared to the rest of the screen. Obviously it's glass so it doesn't flex, but I'm wondering what could be pushing this up and if there's a way to fix this?

  • @tquinnathome1 Likely the mid section (the plastic the glass touch screen is attached to) is not clipping in properly. Was a repair made on the device? Sometimes as small piece of plastic (from an old mid section, etc) can block it from fully dropping into place.

  • @RepairsUniverse No, never been repaired before. it's always been well looked after actually! I don't know when I started to notice it, I'm sure it wasn't like it initially, but I only play games on it the other way around, so I didn't feel it before either. Ifyou hold the device facing you normally with the button at the bottom, the screen on the lower/mid RHS goes up and down by about half a millimeter, and makes a small clicking sound, like it's not sitting right. Wonder how I can fix this..

  • @tquinnathome1 Sometimes if the device is left in the sunlight or placed near a heat source the adhesive holding the screen in place can lose its stick and cause the screen to protrude a small bit. You can attempt to heat it quickly (15 - 30 seconds) with a heat gun or hair dryer and apply some pressure for a few minutes. May be a temp fix. Applying new adhesive would be a preferred fix.

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks a lot, I'll give that remedy a try, see if I can heat it and apply a little pressure. Cheers for getting back to me and responding, I'll be watching your channel.

  • @tquinnathome1 No problem at all! Check out some new adhesive (pre cut) for your iTouch if the quick fix does not work. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Good luck!

  • I have changed Digitizer screen on ipod 2nd gen & the home button does not work now , the screen was new & included a fitted new home button...everything is fine but the home button does not work .......any pointers please

  • @tbeck40 Did the new screen include the home button flex cable as well or just the home button, mid frame, and touch screen? Does the button physically press down, or does it appear to be stuck?

  • @RepairsUniverse The digitizer screen came with the mid frame ,home button & the flex cable all assembled ...the home button does not appear to be stuck .many thanks for your help & quick reply

  • @tbeck40 Hmm, that does seem odd. So if you press it down, you can feel the flex cable button click? If this is the case I would just make sure the contact on the back of the home button flex cable matches the contact on the motherboard. They basically just press together and relays the info from the home button flex to the motherboard. If all looks good, I would suggest contacting the seller of the part directly for more info and a possible replacement.

  • Can you fill in where the gasket is, with a type of caulk? I'd say as long as it's below level slightly, between the glass and chrome it will do the job. I just don't know exactly what would work best. Maybe I'm wrong, and you wouldn't want a "floating" seal/gasket as compared to the fixed ones that you buy. I've been trying to find info on this online, so any feedback will be much appreciated.

  • @lllllllRobot Hi,

Some adhesives can damage the digitizer so be careful. We recommend using adhesive strips. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • the title is not specific, this could apply to any Ipod and it doesn't show how to assemble the Ipod. I think its worth disliking this, at least you made an effort

  • @killidiotas This is for the 2nd Gen iPod touch. The title in the opening of the video states this. Sorry for any confusion.

  • thanks man! my freind paid me to do this for $20.00, sucker....

  • Gadgets such as these are designed with poorly made parts, to allow small accidents such as screen cracking, in order to main consumer spending, either from repairs or buying a brand new product. Imagine if products were build to last, not break down or break... Well the economy would collapse!

  • @markusboyd3 Haha, very well said. And it is very true. The current products are getting more and more difficult to repair as well, making replacement the main option if damage does occur. But that is why we try to provide in depth videos on these new devices, because they are so tricky. Patients is key with these repairs.

  • @RepairsUniverse TVs are the same, for if you can remember when you had that box TV in your liviing room, just think how long that TV lasted you... Now, research the life span of the 'latest' TV models ie flatscreens... A salesperson told me they only last 3-4 years. But it just lasted me 5 years. Now, the box TV I bought a long time ago - samsung - lasted me about 7-8 years... Hmmm, something not right? Apparently technological efficiency is irrelevent to technological development...oO

  • @markusboyd3 Yes. Efficiency is the enemy of profits. Also got to love outdated technology, wrapped up and presented as new with less benefits and longevity, but more style appeal..

  • @markusboyd3 they are not made with cheap or poorly made parts and are in fact very high quality parts if you think you can do better than why don't you design a phone?

  • I have a 2nd gen iPod touch, I cracked not only the touch part but the black around the button, what should I do

  • @deathadder171 By the black around the button, I believe you are still referring to the touch screen digitizer. Replacing it would be recommended. Check out our touch screen assemblies at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. They are perfect for this type of repair. It includes the touch screen digitizer, mid frame, home button, and home button flex cable, all pre attached. Makes for a very simple swap.

  • i wish there was a way to fix the Nano's 5th gen's screen. but no, Apple never makes things easy enough where u can replace the screen on ur own...

  • @Dakkatsu Check out our website, RepairsUniverse (dot) com, we have a guide for replacing the LCD screen and glass screen cover. As well as replacement parts and accessories.

  • My ipod got soaked in the rain. I let it dry out for a few days in a bowl of rice, but when I turned it on, the backlight was brighter (blacks where less intense) than usually for a few minutes before turning off completely. Now my ipod's backlight wont turn on, and there are some dead spots where the ipod doesnt respond to touch. What parts should i buy to fix this?

  • @goginko1 Sounds like you have got pretty lucky. I would suggest plugging it into a computer to see if iTunes will still recognize it. If it does, you can replace the glass touch screen digitizer and the LCD display screen and your iPod should be fully functional again. If iTunes does not recognize it, then it is possible the motherboard was damaged by the water. Screens and other replacements parts can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • it will work on ipod touch 1st gen?

  • @clover181908 Yes, same basic procedure. Subtle differences in the flex cable, mid frame, and home button, but you should have no problem figuring it out using this video.

  • i have a cracked screen on my ipod. everything works just fine and i just need to replace the glass. should i just order the iPod Touch 3rd Gen Digitizer Screen Assembly + Frame + Button and follow the instructions in the video? and will that kit come with the tools shown in this video?

  • @tigeryelloweyes Yes, we do suggest the assembly for anyone not feeling too comfortable with the repair. These are VERY simple to replace. In fact, with the assembly, you wont need to follow this guide very far. Just to the point of removing the old assembly and simply swapping them out. All of our replacement parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com come with a free safe open pry tool which, if used properly, will be all you will need to complete your repair.

  • How do I put the button in? I got the digitizer in and working but the home button would click at all!?

  • @snaggypaggy The home button will need to be sandwiched into the glass digitizer and the mid frame. It will then be pressed directly into the home button flex cable (with metal plating) which will relay the info to the motherboard. So somewhere there is a bad connection. I would suggest taking it apart to determine where the fault is.

  • if the frame is cracked

  • can someone help me, I have a glass replacement without the frame and the button and the clips and I swap it out with the old frame? if so how?

  • @bboi68 If the mid frame is cracked it can many times still be used (however we always suggest replacing this as well). Just be sure to use some good adhesive to told it all together. We have pre cut adhesive for the iPod Touch and replacement mid frames available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Can anyone help I took off my iPod touch screen now it doesn't work and I put all the cables back correctly

  • @Robertgc98 Is it the touch screen digitizer that is not functioning or is it the LCD screen? These cables are very fragile and can be ripped or damaged if not careful, I would suggest checking this first.

  • Why am i watching this i dont even have a ipod

  • what tools are needed? just those 3? i need to replace a screen but i need to know if thats all i need pls lmk. =]

  • @MyComputerguide You will only need pry tools for this if you are only replacing the touch screen on a 2nd or 3rd generation. Fresh adhesive is also suggested to give the touch screen a solid bond to the mid section. All of these replacement parts and tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • my ipod generation 2 is so messed up and i need HELP

1st the screen cracked because my bro dropped it.

2nd. the audio jack crapped out to the point where one headphone worked no the other.

3rd. i looked up a tutorial to fix the audio jack and in the process ripped some little tab thing that connected the the glass and the touch screens now shot.

    IS IT WORTH getting FIXED????

  • @popsnacks2 I would think it is worth fixing, parts are pretty inexpensive at this time. As for the audio jack, it is just a flex cable that will need to be connected, so nothing needs to be ripped or damaged. Check out the parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, we have both the headphone jack and the touch screen digitizer available there.

  • will this remove my scratches?

  • @IWBulletz Swapping out the screen will remove any cracks, deep scratches, or any other cosmetic damage to the iPod Touch. Replacements are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • ok maybe you can help me i dropped my phone also in some water but im able to open applications i reseted and rebooted it but the screen is still dark so i can barely see what im doing an my wifi doesnt work i reseted the wifi network twice

  • @rachibdbest804 The backlight often becomes dim due to water damage. Replacing the LCD screen should resolve this issue. As for the WiFi it has likely been damaged or disconnected. Replacing the WiFi flex cable would be your best bet to resolve that issue. Check RepairsUniverse (dot) com for our current parts and prices.

  • my ipod was dropped in water...the screen still works but it no longer responds to touch. will a new digitizer fix this issue?

  • @br3d23 Water damage is always a bit tricky. If the LCD screen works fine and the motherboard seems to be functioning, then yes, likely a touch screen replacement will resolve the issue.

  • how do i put it back together??

  • @andipandimc We have an assembly video for the iPod Touch in our channel. It is very simple however, just reversing the steps shown in this video.

  • @RepairsUniverse my iPod comes on just fine and all but the screen wont work it comes on to the slide to unlock thing but if I touch the screen there is no response its been like this ever since I bought it they said they had replaced the screen

  • @LopezdudeChris Sounds like the touch screen is damaged and you need a replacement. We have these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • my screen works fine but like tha superficial glass broke or cracked how do i fix that my mom told me dont bring it to school and i brought it to my school and a frien of mind dropped

  • @ruben95786 If the display is fine (LCD screen) but the outer glass touch screen is damaged (touch screen digitizer) then It will need to be replaced. Replacement screens are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • has to 4g????????

  • @zika154 The 4th Generation is a very different design. Check out our channel for our 4th Gen disassembly video.

  • @19t0Ny91 Thank you, we are very happy you found the video useful.

  • What about 1st gen?

  • @gamerbob08 Take a look at our channel, we have both a touch screen repair guide and a LCD screen repair guide for the 1st generation.

  • @RepairsUniverse Ok I'll check it out

  • @gamerbob08 Throw It In The Bin And Get A New One.

  • I did this, everything worked, but my home button was stuck down and wouldn't move, so I came to taking the digitizer back off and snapped the new one, LOL. Just ordered another, how do I go about doing it this time with the home button working? I positioned it in the space with the two little tabs in the right direction??

    Thanks.

  • @snaggypaggy Sorry to hear. The home button is all about alignment, not only on the mid frame, touch screen, but also on the home button flex. Normally I would suggest the touch screen assembly, as this is pre attached. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Take your time with this part of the repair. Also, test it before snapping the screen assembly into place.

  • Can someone please help! The adhesive that holds the screen to my iPod has came undone on the leftside of the screen. How do I fix??? I need help!

  • @PrivateSnowball45 You will need to apply new adhesive, this can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @PrivateSnowball45 You will need to apply new adhesive, this can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • can I change the glas on the fisrt generation?

  • @TheDamirel Yes you can. We have the replacement parts @ RepairsUniverse (dot) com and they come complete with instructions.

  • This may seem stupid, but I don't know what generation my iPod is. How can I tell?

  • @RGibbs0402 Not a stupid question at all. It is always better to be sure than to just guess. The simplest way is to take the model number located on the back of the iPod and punch it into a search engine with the GB size. Normally this will give you all the info needed, if you are still having difficulties, let us know and we can get you the correct information.

  • it says to heat the screen with a hairdryer do i do that

  • @sniperx15rulz Only on the 4th gen iPod Touch is this required to remove the screen from the rest of the iPod. Heating the screen is suggested to soften the adhesive.

  • Can I swap the screen for an olephobic screen like on the iPhone 3GS?

  • @mast3rchi3f89 Sadly no, that would be nice though. All of Apples screens are specific per model and not compatible with others.

  • Where can I find a video on how to put everything back together?

  • @greeengoddess Following this video in reverse will take you through the basic re-assembly steps. I am sure there are videos available for full re-assembly.

  • IHave The Same iPod Touch But I Lost The Front Part (Don't Ask) So It Basicly Looks Like 1:23 . . It Turns On But It Wont Let Me Unlock It & Has The Little Lock On Top . . Any Suggestions On How To Fix My Problem ?

  • @BeatsWick I suggest ordering a touch screen assembly replacement. The assembly includes the touch screen digitizer, mid frame, home button, and home button flex cable. This is a very simple swap out. Take a look at the part at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Wish I'd seen *this* video first. I followed some other online videos to take the cover off (to fix the headphone socket) and now my touchscreen won't work :((((()

  • @LittleNerd (The really painful thing is that I actually have fixed the headphone problem! Just now the touch screen won't work. D'oh. *Desperately scours internet for answers.*)

  • @LittleNerd May just be a connection issue to the touch screen, hopefully no damage was caused. Make sure the touch screens connection is fully in place and not damaged, this should resolve the issue. Good luck!

  • @RepairsUniverse Thank you very much for your reply. Do you mean the little ribbon connector? 'cause if so, I've checked and re-checked that :( Everything seems in order. D'oh.

  • @LittleNerd Yes, I assume the flex cable is in good condition as well then (no rips, etc). Difficult to tell what is actually causing the issue, if it is the touch screen itself, replacing it will fix it. If it is an issues with the motherboard or similar (pretty unlikely) it is very difficult to diagnose and repair.

  • @RepairsUniverse It all looks undamaged and good, unless I made some microscopic tears or something. Thank you very much, I guess I must've somehow damaged the touchscreen when prizing the iPod apart. Darnut. I shall try replacing. Thanks very much for your help. Fingers crossed that replacing the TS works! :-)

  • @LittleNerd No problem at all. Remember too, that quality parts are key, try no to skimp on some aftermarket replacement screen, they usually end up costing much more in the long run. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for other parts and accessories as well. Good luck with your repair!

  • @RepairsUniverse Sure will! Checkin' out now. Thanks very much :D

  • where can i find tht blue tool and where can i get a glass for it

  • @dblockmoney34 The tool is a safe open pry tool. The tools and parts in the video can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • I guess these ppl just sit around and tear up iPods to see what they can do

  • Thank You!

  • @iiEpicDino No problem, glad you found the video useful!

  • @RepairsUniverse i took my old screen off and clipped on the new digitizer then the ribbon snapped on the digitizer any help would be needed thanks

  • @rigger243 Sadly there is not much you can do in this situation. There is no real reliable way to connect the flex cable back together. A replacement would be needed.

  • @RepairsUniverse okay thankyou very much for your advise.
