Why do they always kill everyone, even people who had nothing to do with the supposed crime? Yikes. I'm starting to become ashamed of being a Christian these days if this is honestly what my fellow believers consider good and righteous behavior.
Mudbrooker, for fear of sounding like a fanboy or someone without a life, you need to post more vids. When I see a new post from you I squeal in delight like a 13 year old girl in 1964 seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
A fanboy? Here I was hoping for some of Dr. Hook's "little teenage blue-eyed groupies who'll do anything I say"! :)
I've been putting in some long hours at work lately, but things have eased up to the point where I have some time to make videos again, so I should be able to get some more posted fairly soon.
For pure bloodlust, you might want to check out the origins of Purim where Queen Esther asks the Persian king for a full day in which to slaughter Persians in retaliation for a frustrated plot against the Jews and then proceeds to ask for a second day of slaughter. And the king agrees on both occasions.
I love fairytales. Disney does a good job with theirs. I wish they would do some of these bible stories. Problem would be having the script make sense to ANYONE with a functional brainstem.
This would make a good Disney movie, wouldn't it? Disney flicks usually have a body count and they could make a great musical number out of the mass circumcision scene!
What struck me about this story is that when viewed from Dinah and Shechem's perspective it seems to be a prototype for all the Romeo and Juliet/star-crossed lovers type of stories which followed.
But seriously, deceit is considered a good thing in OT. The Hebrews had a lot of fun telling how they fooled other tribes. Even the name Jacob is supposed to have ment "holding heel", konnotating that he was a borne cheater.
And by the way; Not killing and not swearing falsly only applies inside the tribe.

Another awesome video. I love this series. It's full of lolz. Of course, the whole bible is full of lolz.

Thanks Deco. There's enough of this sort of foolishness in the bible to keep me busy for quite a while.

Thanks, that means a lot coming from someone who spins a pretty good yarn himself!

The old testament and morality teacher:
Genocide, Incest, Kidnapping, Slavery, Infanticide, Rape, and Circumcision. Steven King couldn't even match these stories.

It just baffles me how christians can take horror stories like this and claim they are examples of rightous behavior.

The patriarchs of the old testament certainly raised deceit to an art form didn't they?

Crazy crazy silly dumb stories. But a great video and very interesting.

Thanks Auntie! The bible is actually quite entertaining if you don't take it seriously.
