You're an idiot. He's advocating for the press to ask questions and not just sit back and take their bullshit at face value. To actually check what they say, do some actual journalism.
I think Clyaton, and correct me if I'm wrong, is saying that Jon is pointing out something that pisses him off, not that Jon making this point pisses him off.
He makes the biggest point in this video that pisses me off.. The media runs the corporate and political ideas willingly based on their own biasedness.. It's sooooooooooo gaaaaay!
The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are the best sources of news on American television. Better than CNN... beter than Fox... beter than MSNBC. News parody shows, while hilarious, are also the also sources of authentic, unbiased news coverage. The only way to cover current affairs objectively is to look at it with a humorous slant.
"The only way to cover current affairs objectively is to look at it with a humorous slant."
And for those who have things like souls and feelings and are generally actual humans, it's just about the only way to cover current affairs without wanting to kill yourself or someone else.
It's still biased.. But I agree, it's far better than any of the news stations. Stewart makes low shots at McCain (does this to democrats sometimes too) sometimes that are irrelevent, not important, but is often funny (which IS the point of the show) Making fun of how he walks or talks type of stuff. These shows are genius and there is a lot to be learned hypocrisy wise in politics from their satire.
Jon Stewart says he is an entertainer. It is biased, and they leave out big parts of stories to make the jokes better. The jokes come first. Not content.
That is partially true, but the ability for the audience to retain details of news information lies in how receptive they are, and comedy is one of the ways to do it. When ppl find stuff entertaining, they will actually remember what the joke is about and lead them to research and expand their understanding of the joke's topic. Research=education. I do laugh at Jon Stewart's jokes, but when there's a topic that peaks my curiousity, I don't just laugh, I study up on why the irony is so funny.
Right, he's not the media, he's a comedian. He's asking people in the media to be more responsible about their reporting. He can be as biased as he wants, he just supposed to make you laugh.
@stewartcolbert11 They are the best helpers of interpreting the news media's reports. If people get their political information solely from TDD/TCR, that is a major problem.

"think of jokes, quickly" fucking right, holy cow, he has the fastest comebacks ever, and he makes little side comments that make me think he must have all sorts of jokes and thoughts flowing through his head at all times, amazing guy
No, Jon - your interviews are good too. Although inconsistent at times, they can be outstanding. Look for the interviews with Bill Bennett, Chris Matthews, John McCain, the Crossfire thing, etc - he isn't out to slam people like them for the sake to slam them; he's asking genuine questions that are not disrespectful, but still work at getting to the root of his intellectual disagreement with the other guy.

Scary that the most accurate way to get information is to watch comedy shows, isn't it? Not that I'm complaining.
