I think it's a two way process or collaboration between the US and mexico, even if mexicans beef up their armies if the demand stays, there will always be cartels, the US on the other hand should control the borders and beef up security too, another issue are the firearms that get smuggled from US soil, 90% of mexican guns come from US armories, if the US can do their part while the policia federal and army of mexico do theirs, then we have a chance to crush the drug cartels.

it breaks my heart to see this. My parents are from Juarez and I remember going to Juarez as a child to visit family. We used to stay out late at night playing with our cousins and our parents sitting there watching us. I miss the Mexico we used to have so I won't go until this drug war is over - if it ever ends.
I remember when I used to live there about 6 years ago. I didn't have to worry about someone shooting at me when I walked home from school. It's really sad to see my country and city get to where it is now. I'm even afraid of going back and visit. My uncle died about 4 months ago and he didn't even have anything to do with drugs =(. Mexican army ranks 14# strongest army in the world. When we hear about cops. I am already hearing Guanajuato is having to have soldiers killing over 12 cartel men. The cartel can not beat the Mexican Army because the Zetas are untrained, and they are a bunch of losers. If I was president I would immediately give the order to take down Juarez. I couldn't care less for the sacrifices. Calderon spend 7 billion dollars moving the army to the border, and his plan is working, but Calderon will spend more billions, if it doesn't work. Mexican army needs to strike now.

I wonder why the UN hasnt done anything about this problem. My guess is that Mexico doesnt want the world to see it as a nation in need of help. I am waiting for the day when the Mexican Government is toppled in a Military Coup caused by a Cartel controlled Military. When that happens the US has no choice but to invade Mexico(again) and do what we did in Panama.

The only way out of this complicated situation, is by putting drug traffickers out of business.. and the only way to do this would be by stopping drug consumption.. and you know what? drugs are mostly consumed in the US. And also, do you know where do the weapons that the traffickers use come from? Big surprise.. from the US. think the solution is simple also not the best solution longterm: legalize the drugs. sure, the rate of drug abuse will increase (for the first time) but there isnt ANY base for criminal or gang wars. im not a legalizing fan, but at least for mariuhana but best for all drugs. let them do it, many will be killed by drugs but the number of innocent, shot peopl will decrease imo.

We used to stay out late at night playing with our cousins and our parents sitting there watching us. I miss the Mexico we used to have so I won't go until this drug war is over - if it ever ends.

I remember when I used to live there about 6 years ago. I didn't have to worry about someone shooting at me when I walked home from school. It's really sad to see my country and city get to where it is now. I'm even afraid of going back and visit. My uncle died about 4 months ago and he didn't even have anything to do with drugs =(. People can't do anything because they'll get kill and because the police and government is so corrupt that is better to keep your mouth shout.
