  • I agree with "12321avocado12321" that is a FUNNY metronome, hilarious! You should make a 10 minute video of just the metronome. So I could use it to make some phone pranks with it, Love it. B-)

  • hahaha, where did you get the metronome? I would play that all day long just to piss everyone else off

  • roland e-drum modules have this kind of metronome...

  • I got the hi hat n bass drum down. I'm having trouble with the snare part. Would you be able to play jus the snare part by ut self n a lil slower?

  • annoying ass metronome. Good lesson, but mute the metronome

  • Nice instructional vid but the tempo at 1:40 looked a bit difficult for you, the groove also fell apart.

Only saying this because is says drumPRO on the title...so lets teach 'em properly eh? And that metronome is SERIOUSLY shit.

  • ur a fuckin idiot that was perfect

ive learnt this myself and it was correct

    so fuck u

    u clueless piece of shite!!!

  • I think stovsa is right, and who ever post "u clueless piece of shite!!!" should always define what a "shite" is, because as a non native speaker i dont know what shitEs are.

  • What the fuck are you talking about? Thats exactly how a samba is supposed to groove

  • songo*

  • Thank you, thats what I meant :)

  • you r awesome i suscribed to u!

  • nice lesson but the snare sounds like a bag of old nails xD

  • Lol that was funny i litterally laughed out loud when i read that

  • heh. I was just thinking how nice those overtones were. but then I have been listening to timbales for years

  • you are a master !!

  • linear patterns are amazing

  • Actually, I find that metronome so distracting it is very hard to workout what is going on :-o

  • George my old friend! How are you?

  • all those doing grade six drumming that beat is part of a track you can chose to play (assuming you are using trinity guild hall) called salsa songo its about the speed he was playing it at the end so it is fast.

  • SOngo sounds kl with a cow bell

  • cool.

    i love dr. beat lol.

  • nice metronome, i wanna know what it would sound like at 300bpm lol

  • look up lord marco warming up 300 bpm and youll hear its hilarious

  • what kind of metronome is that?

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome! Really helpful!

  • your metronome is awesome

  • Boss DB-90. Best metronome EVER!

  • Dr. Beat XD He's haunted my entire marching band career...

  • Same here. Nothing like hearing that high pitched ding cranked in your ear for hours a day. ah....

  • I was my band's drum major this year, so I had the pleasure of having the loudspeaker with which we amplified ours right behind me for the entire season. Yay :P

  • SONGO IST CUBANMUSIC BROTHER....

  • SONGO IST CUBANMUSIC MANN

  • nice lesson, thanx 4 the help

  • It helps a lot if you get this lesson written down on paper. Then you see more what you are playing, Because listening only at this part is hardly to learn to play songo.

  • i had a teacher who taught me how to play drums but he wasnt such an expert hes more of a guiatrist/pianist.... but he taught me songo in a different variation of sum sort but seeing this way i got a better concept, timing, and understanding of songo thx ... God Bless

  • haha..drumpro. yea right. so much for variation of ghost notes.

  • That's a pretty cool groove. Thanks for the video!

  • what an annoying click track..

  • y ppl always got to say sumthing negative just shut upp n say thank u cause i bet all talking shit dat he lost count at the end cant even stay on be so let it be he did already anit shit u can do got damnn ... n nice vid by the way dude

  • lol y wouldnt u explain the snare as well as the rest of the limbs, its the most complicated pattern. And explain the importance of the BOMBO note in Latin percussion

  • Nice lesson, thank you!

  • very good helped me a lot. thank you very much

  • Beat is great but I am really digging that snare!

  • Thanks a bunch for breaking this beat down. It's one of my favorites now.

  • TherealTOTOfan is right. A long as you've got the click in your head, you'll be fine. I know a guy who was playing a session. Suddenly he stopped playing and said that the click is wrong. He said it was 121 bpm while it was supposed to be 120 bpm's. He was right. And he heard it all by himself. Becouse he had the click in his head, he diddn't need it as a hearable sound.

  • you lost the click track in the end, out of time

  • Really didn't dude, he was right on. Try counting with him. Like he said, high hat is on every quarter note, 1 2 3 4. Listen to the metronome and watch his high hat strokes. All the sixteenths are in time too... Nice try though...

  • NO... he actually did mess it up a bit

    ...nice try... jackass

  • good thanks so hard muy dificil mierda pero gracias !!

  • exellent

  • i would like to thank you for show me this groove slowly

    tanks mannn!!

    i learn this!

  • Playing fast is not hard.... try lowering the tempo , and playing it exactly as you would at the normal tempo, that's when ur going to find the hard part

  • @ DCuchillas: exactly cause there's more space in between those subdivisions..

  • con ganas, ya me lo aprendi perro

  • very thx! for you i learn to play songo

    very good Groove

  • I want that Metronome! <= or Metro-Gnome!

  • It's a Dr. Beat. Worth the money.

  • hahahaha ese metronomo es la onda!

  • am not looking for the metronome it's so easy just follow from the slow beggining up to the fast beat...nice it's cool dude....

  • OMG...

  • are those Renaissance heads?

  • That metronome I believe is a roland, it comes with my electric drumset. and I also believe songo is a two bar rhythm so that metronome needs to be on double time. otherwise the clave wouldn't fit.

  • nice set my guy

  • at full speed your metronome started to go into cardiac arrest.

  • What kind of heads does he have on his toms and snare?

  • cool!

  • LoooooooL!!! I love your metronome!!! haha =D Nice lesson! help me very much!

  • oh yeah this metronome is very cool, so i'm looking for one!!

  • why looking for a metronome when you can be one by yourself .. ?

  • You don't need one if you're playing drums but with a band it's different you need one to accelerate and find the best rythm...

  • i always thought when playing it should be kept steady.. wow i was banking on a lie OMG!! it's almost unbelievable what you seem to "Know" ..IF you have the ability to change rhythms individually and keep them straight you won't ever need a fucking metronome not mattre if you play solo or in a band (does it makes any difference anyway in your playing? NO!) you have to become a metronome for yourself!!!

  • You need to PRACTICE with a metronome to learn how to BE a metronome. Fuck, YouTube is like a collection of overly aggressive ignorant people.

  • oh wow what a wise man you are.. like everyone knows this!! but i suppose if you are about to learn songo, which is no straight easy rock you woul have to be that "good" to be able to play without a metronome..

  • Just as one of many examples, I remember a Steve Gadd clinic in which he recommended that drummers practice with a metronome. I wouldn't be surprised if he practiced with one himself. Of course, who is Steve Gadd when we have such a knowledgeable drummer as the great therealTOTOfan? Oh by the way, I'm willing to bet Jeff Porcaro had no aversion to metronome practice either.

  • Saying that ANY drummer, no matter who they are, is too good to play with a metronome is proof of how little you know about drums. I'm not wise. I'm just not an amateur with a big mouth.

  • thats all well and good until you get into a recording studio with a click and nothing else. Without practicing with a click you've got no hope

  • @ helloalec: hmmm. didn't notice that when i was recording in a studio. what's a click? a click is a HEARABLE measure of time. nothing more. and as long as you got this measuring in your head down, you won't ever get trouble with that... trust me!

  • one ee an a two ee an a one ee an a two ee an aone ee an a three ee an a four one ee an a two ee an a one ee an a two ee an aone ee an a three ee an a four

FUCK OFF YOU'RE DRIVING ME INSANE... Seriously though this groove is well cool. Very inspirational intro to the concept of linear playing.

  • i can do three limbs... lol

  • sounds like a 70 year old grumpy woman

  • Or an auctioneer...

  • good this song and if it is not like other shits videos disque is that this song is very good bato eh very good your song of slow to fast bato happiness if you're very good
