If you have ever studied music, or worked with an organist with any chops, you will know that whether or not you like Langlais style, he is a master of the instrument.
I am interested in his colorations, depth of interpretations, experiments with improv & his own compositions (as comp student)
To the critics - pls learn how to express yourself at this level, you will have much less to criticize. I am not an organist, but a jazz guitarist and vocalist w/45 yrs exp. & yrs. in music schools.
I agree with you on a considerable amount of his work. A lot of it is pretty pedestrian. But sprinkled in among the not-so-spectacular stuff is are quite a few diamonds.
I suppose you prefer the 'music' of the likes of dan locklear better than this. My goodness. And for you information - everything Jean Langlais wrote is a masterpiece.
@Pedalpoint1 if you do not like Langlais means that you´re very enslaved by human civilization He was blind since child that allowed him to experience other dimensions of the human psyche,
his compositions are the sword that conquered their worst fears...
I think you're not even able to accept your own childhood traumas and maybe you play the faggot ( the instrument)
some of the Langlais pieces bring to mind the organ piece played in the attic of the old victorian Simmon,s house in "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" starring Don Knotts. Iam suprized no ones done something with that organ piece, its pretty wild

Davvero magnifico...
