Ive had my Peugeot 2.2 hdi now for 4 years , and rather than part with it i'm going to keep it , Its smooth, comfortable and eats the miles up with ease, it really is a drivers car, i am proud to own a car designed by Pininfarina, After all they do have over 90 years experience in making things look beautiful

I miss my V6 auto, i'd have another one tomorrow!! stunning looks, fantastic motor, fantastic for the family man who wants a bit of power or brilliant for the boy racer who wants a bit of class, shame it wasn't RWD!! Unfortunately trying to put a baby seat in the back of one of these is a problem. A tough act to follow but baby seats and 2dr cars don't mix . lol

It is a FWD, like all other cars made by peugeot. Except some 4WD built in the 80's and 90's, like the peugeot 205 T16 and 405 Mi16 4x4.

dont buy it as a first car as its not the sort of thing new drivers should have. You'll learn to appreciate it a bit more if you drive around in crappy older cars for a while. If you are under 25 then get yourself a hot hatch, the 406 coupe is for a slightly more mature market. Thats how its kept its class.

Pretty much all of them look good. The Peugeot 605 looks excellent for being a 20 year old car and Jeremy Clarkson once said that the Ferrari 355 was the last great looking Ferrari.

Hi, sorry about this stupid question but I don't know much about cars. I have a 2litre 406 coupe (1997 model) with some rough looking wheels and can get hold of some very nice 3 litre V6 alloys for next to nothing. Will they go straight on or will I have to change something, wheel nuts etc.?

Peugeot was having a really good day when they came up with this car. It is so classy and stylish, the 407 coupe is a little too brutish but the 406 is subtle enough not to notice, but when you do notice it..wow!

@clubtaxi No it was not. That is complete rubbish. A little research will show you that the same person from Pininfarina who design the Ferrari 430 also designed the 406 Coupé. The similarities are so obvious, Ferrari were not to pleased.

The Calibra looks old and dated, you can tell it was an early 90's design. The 406 Coupé still looks good in any car park today.

On the verge of buying a 2.0 litre (its all I can afford to insure)that I road tested the other day, I was really dissapointed by the lack of power. I've a 1.4 Astra at the minute which is probably just as powerful. Is this normal???

The reason the mirrors are painted in gray is because it would spoil the cars lines, drawing too much atention to them if they would be colour coded to the body paint. This way yhe car will look more sleek.

That's true. The reason ferrari gets away with body-coloured mirrors is primarily because they're so small, and fairly wide (on large stalks).

I'd be a bit daft to put those kind of mirrors on a road car.

Oh man, this film is great! That clip from Le Boulet is awesome too. I have the same car, in silver, although it is only a 2.0 litre. The only drawback to driving one is that you never get to see yourself cruising along, looking like a king! I also love the Lancia Gamma Coupe, these are the two most beautiful cars in the World, both by Pininfarina of course! Now the question is... black Gamma Coupe or silver 406 Coupe?
