  • Does anyone know the song 3 mins into the movie that the 2 chinese girls are singing to in the movie cant seem to find it anywhere :(

  • I just watched it yesterday after being teased by it being on my IO's movies on demand. I absolutely looooved it. It was so beautiful, and that ending was just perfect.

  • Oh my god. I loved the book! It was amazing :) I cried.

  • The book is better, I don't like the film.

  • sisters for 10 thousands years???

    nah ah!!!

gosh. if i stick with my sis that long, i rather die

  • movie was amazing..now im going to read the book

  • nowhere online has this with english subs!!! :(

  • @lilmizzy2008 try in the web page subtitleseeker

  • where the fuck is Hugh Jackman?

  • @michpillejera has a small role at the end of the film

  • @jodelle: it's a movie, so they have to cut it short. If you want the whole plot that would be called series.

  • this movie was a disappointment. snow flower is such a beautiful book. i have read it many many times. i really do not see why they made another story with it. why did they make the nowadays story more important than the original one. i don't think this movie is very well written. so many parts are missing. i bet it's a little confusing for the people who haven't read the book. it's already hard to make justice to a book in a movie because you have to cut so much. they cut way too much.

  • Good Movie!

  • lesbian?

  • @MsCheezyMice Goofy, friends of the soul.

  • This is a prequel to the Joy Luck Club

  • I'm pathetic, I'll see anything that has Hugh Jackman in it

  • Don't watch this movie!!!!! READ THE BOOK

  • @MoralAbstract absolutely! the book is amazing.. with this trailer, i'm not impressed :/

  • Hollywood philosophy: Asian women >> Asian men.

  • A crying shame!

  • NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK! NO EMOTION! I HATED IT, And I hate that it could have been so much more!

  • I just watched this movie and it was good

  • Comment removed

  • Was this film good? It looks good, but why does it have like a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes?!

  • fuck searchlight pictures presents

slut flower and the sexiest fan

  • I loved the book

  • Great movie toe.

  • Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is a must read book....it's not voted the best novel for no reason.

  • I recently read this book and waited till the movie came on dvd to watch it. Even though I liked the present day girls story I wish it was more about the story from the book because a lot of important things were left out, like Third Sister and her footbinding disaster, why Snow Flower was married to the butcher and why Lily's mother inlaw did not want them to be friends, and when Lily verbally disgraced Snow Flower at the cousin's wedding party. Enjoyed seeing Hugh Jackman in there. Nice Movie.

  • i dntt mean to be offensive in any way to those who come from and know chinese culture, nor to whom read the book. BUT...i just wtchd the movie, and im CONFUSED! at first i thought it was about sworn sis, but then in the movie u'll see scenes where they get jealous of each other's husbands, and 1 of them watches the other having sex, and then there are those scenes where you think they will just start kissing or smth...WTF? could some1 who wtchd the movie pls tell me what a laotong REALLY is?

  • @LoNaMuZiKe

lol, they weren't jealous of each others husbands. In fact they were worried for each other so much more than they were blooded sister. Further more during the time where women were treated without rights, serving their husband without complain is the 'purest virtue'. The other women represent hope and support, but a sister is the strong est love. i recommended you watch it again and i promise you will understand better. This type of movie need to be watch multiple times

  • @LoNaMuZiKe This movie was made by Americans for American audience so the only thing offensive to the Chinese culture is the movie itself.

  • WHERE THE HELL IS WOLVERINE? xD

  • Wonderful movie adaptation...

    A must see film...

  • is it sin ji lee?

  • oh i can't wait to watch this movie..i just newly buy this book and still in read. love this one..

  • I read the book and was horryfied by the foot binding back then in China. Now I have to see it in the movie?

  • loved the book ...

  • No way Hosay I'm not watching this.

  • Am where is The hottie Hugh Jackman? I only want to see this movie because of him! :)

  • I thought I would go see this as my wife is fascinated by orientel novels and culture. I must admit, it was a decision for me largely based upon tolerance as I simply thought. Time to switch off for the girl's film. I got a surprise. It was an extremely interesting story. Very beautiful. A classic film.

  • Can't Wait to see this movie! It reminds me of me and my best friend Lisa with whom it feels we've known each other ten million years. Very touching and very heartfelt story of two women who's friendship could never be broken over a span of time. So true! Because I've lived it and still living it with my best friend. Thanks Lisa See for one of the best stories ever written about and for women! :)

  • Why are they speaking English? I want subtitles all over

  • @symbolt

me too! has the movie come out yet?

  • @symbolt Because Americans (AKA Hollywood) hate other languages, cultures, and even races. It's why foreign movies get remade rather than a release over here.

  • @Maverynthia I completely disagree. I think the reason is financial - the execs assume most viewers are not used to subtitles. If you think Americans "hate" other languages, cultures and even races - perhaps there are some who do, but on the other hand, most of the human-rights advances and trends towards tolerant multiculturalism come from the US. Have you ever been? There are a friggin bunch of cultures, languages and races in the US, and they're all "American" (the languages not officially)

  • @symbolt If you think that, then why'd they do Avatar the Last Airbender with an all white cast? We know Sokka and Katara are not white. Why were they planning to do Akira with an all white cast? It's set in JAPAN! (Oh wait that's right they changed the location from Tokyo to I think it was New York, now why they go and do that?) I heard in the hunger games they changed the races to white as well. That's why there's a website called "Racebending".

  • @Maverynthia Yeah I know what you mean. I am just pointing out - it's not "Americans" who did this, it was just reasonably small groups of people (studio execs etc). Americans gave us the "Blue Eyes Brown Eyes" exercise. Or an American gave us "A Wizard From Earthsea," but other Americans (Sci Fi) filmed it by flipping the races, and she responded (look up Le Guin's "A Whitewashed Earthsea" article. So you know, don't generalize, but speak out! It's generalizing that makes the racism.

  • @symbolt Well if you saw I did say (AKA Hollywood) It's basically how other countries see us, through our media.

  • @symbolt Americans don't hate other cultures... but they are to lazy to try them and judge them based on stereotypes.... And besides no foreign movie has ever reached top10 USA Box Office for a simple reason... they won't go unless it's played by english actors.

  • @HachimitsuBoy85 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? Also: you generalize

  • god i want to see this!!!! i must get and read the book first!!

  • Looks like a beautiful movie

  • anyone know where i can watch this? ; 3;

  • I loved the book but the movietrailer seems a bit..off. But maybe I just don't remember the story that well.

  • I love this book so much! I hope the film does it justice!

  • where does hugh jackman come into play?

  • @tammybaby I'm pretty sure he's gonna be the husband or boyfriend or w/e of the one in America =_=...idk my hypothesis.

  • @tammybaby I was thinking of the same thing too.

  • @tammybaby He's in a dream sequence whereby both girls have the same dream: A threesome with Hugh Jackman.

  • @tammybaby Yes,He's the boyfriend of one of the girls

  • I think I read the book years ago, is the movie any good?

  • I can tell this is by the same director as the Joy Luck Club. haha

  • ugh, where the heck is Hugh Jackman?! Isn't he suppose 2 b in this movie?

  • THIS was a great book. I'd see the movie but there's nothing showing in Vancouver, BC. =(

  • Already seen it at one of those theatres that play foreign movies. :P

  • Well, at least it's something being 'promoted' besides 'friends with benefits....'

    >__>

  • i read the book idk if ima see the movie though

  • @wickedwthaheart You read a book? and you type like that?

  • @MookieSpider Do you type in perfect grammar and punctuation on the internet?

  • I saw this movie today... if anyone who sees it knows the name of the chinese pop song Li bingbing and jun ji hyun dance to in the beginning, TELL ME PLEASE!!! lol i've been searching like crazy!!

  • @rainonmebi The song is "浮躁" (Fu Zao) by singer Faye Wang.

  • @amy31453 THANK YOU!! :D

  • i LOVED "joy luck club"...the book and movie...this looks sublime...

  • AHMAHGUDNISS. I read this book in Arts-Infused World Literature this past year, and I LOVED it. Now it's really gonna be a movie?! I'm gettin' in line now.

  • Uh, is Peony in Love already in film too??? oh! please....(crossing fingers)

  • I would recommend this book to anyone! It's really quite wonderful.

Though, I'm not sure where the modern day aspects of the trailer are coming from. The latest date in the book is in the early 1900s.

  • so.........lesbians?

I kid I kid, looks like an interesting movie, I may have to check out the book too

  • @BlueStrikeP It is totaly worth it. From the first word til the last it is a breath taking book

  • Shanghai girls also by Lisa See is a great read too!

  • Jun Ji-hyun... she is a korean actress playing a chinese woman. Kind of like Memoirs of a Geisha (Where many chinese actresses played japanese women). . .

BUT I love Jun Ji-hyun :D She is a great actress and I know she will do this role justice. Look at the movies My Sassy Girl (2001) and Windstruck.

  • read the book , its wonderful, cant wait to see this !

  • Oh great now I have to read the book, or maybe I'll watch the movie first, enjoy it, and then read the book and enjoy that. Anyone got any other books like this to suggest?

  • I'm so excited!

  • Not really sure what to think.

The book is actually quite good.

  • i want some hunan chicken rite now
