Hey Dave! Listen i don't wanna be one of those morons the just keep wasking about equipments, but i am really curious about the DSM monitor from m-audio. I intend to use it with my guitar rig 3 software. Can i get a good quality with those??? Thx man !!
If I'm playing a melodic melody and have the background sound in my head...How can I tell what chords would fit over that melody? I've been creating these melodies without a real background to support them. How can we figure out what would support the melody? I'm in the financial process about inquiring about some lessons from you on how to let the theory help me answer these questions. Again thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us and we all look forward to the riff of the week!!!
yeah a 9 chord isn't dissonant. A dissonant sound would be a b9 or #9 or b5 or #5 or a minmaj7, etc. But hey, maybe to you it is! everyone has different ears.
Sorry, maybe dissonant isn't the right word. I was referring to to the sound that the C and the D produce with each other that gives the Cmaj9 a sense of color... so a clash in a sense but not a harsh clashing at all. Is there a technical term for that? I'm not too good with theory obviously.
Dave your tips are superb!!! how is your daily routine , when you are not touring?
thanks Berher

Really like the approach to the implied voicing. It makes an airy sound that almost makes the listener think you're migrating to the IV!

i honestly haven't used them much at all. The NS-10s are my main mix monitor. But the DSM2s will be used for reference during final mixes.

I love dissonant chords, especially 9's. Great work, but I guess you don't need me telling you that.

a 9 chord is hardly 'dissonant'.
