Other than the loose hinge, both of my systems developed small dot like scratches that distort a single pixel (that, or it's the most stubborn piece of dirt ever x2.) I'm not sure what caused it, but the fact that it happened on both of my systems leads me to think that it's some sort of design flaw. I, too, am very careful with my systems. I am aware of the lower screen causing scratches on the upper screen, but these little dot scratches are a little different than that.

The battery life is more than 2.5 hours, at lest in my experiences, on the first charge of the 3DS, I've progressed through Ocarina of Time 3D to roughly the start of the forest temple. regarding the lack of video recording, I read somewhere that a recent or future update will allow for video (even 3D)

simple way to fix floppy 3ds hinge:

1: Go to Nintendo.com, then go to support

2: Next to Wii will be 3ds go to troubleshooting in 3ds

3: Go to housing and hinge to the left,then choose system hinge problems (loose)

4: Go down to the blue words that say "click here"

5: Continue through it,send your 3ds to Nintendo,wait 10-20 days,TaDa!No wobbly hinge!

battery life hasn't been an issue for me, I bought a car charger as well...

The hinge hasn't been a problem at all for me, also I got the nintendo brand super mario crystaline armor and it clips on and re-enforces the hinge.

I love my 3DS.... simple fix to all those problems are...

1. buy the extended battery! (great life to it)

2. the hinge is to avoid the screen snapping off the lower reciever! hope it helps!

The battery is low or it has a low lifetime battery. On my 3DS that happend to me once :( but the problem is fixed. You have to charge it more untill its full.

3ds Batterie life might suck but it doesn't take very long to charge, the DS lite's hinges were worse, The 3ds takes Video now, And last but not least It beat the living Shiz out of the PlayStation Vita. 3DS 545K PS Vita 75K in one week for both.

You don't have to download mainstream games for it as they are on memory cards similiar to how the DS and 3DS use but with a 32gb capacity at max(which means, they have space to put say Metal gear solid 4 on there easily). 2. Your internet connection and bandwidth determines how long games take to download in general so if your internet connection and bandwidth are garbage then obviously it will take a long time to download a game.

@TheKingdomheart56 Ps vita has done terribly in japan compared to the 3DS, but its alot more expensive there then here(¥29,980/388.11 vs 250 usd for the 3g model before even a memory card or game). I've got friends with it in japan and from there side the system isn't worth its cost, but sony also is started to patch issues already and lowered the prices on memory cards and some games here, decent lineup but biggest problem is both systems aren't worth thier cost.

@MrGamepark My launch 3DS had hinge issues and slight D-pad cracking, the one i got this week again had D-pad issues only to the point of the up button completely not responding, and the third one D-pad was heavily squeaking like it was cracking and had response issues. I ended up bieng able to pay off my UMVC3,8gb memory stick, and half the wifi PS Vita with the return of the 3DS and the games i got from gamestop so i'm just dissapointed by the wait for the Vita >_<.

It really suprised me to see nintendo do that bad of a job on the system itself since they normally make them much stronger and durable. From touching the Vita on the otherhand, it feels very well put togather, but you have to get used to the difference in how you hold the system due to the touchpad on the back.

My problem with the 3DS was the bottom screen's border leaving permanent scratches on the top screen. It got so severe that it threw the 3D effect off for me, so I sent it in for a repair. When it came back, they didn't make changes to prevent it from happening again. So I decided to mod the rubber bumpers on the left and right edges of the top panel to make the 3DS not close completely. Now, it will still go into sleep mode when I fold it, but now the top screen won't get any bad scratches.
