He's underrated, in my opinion, really because his lack of consistency. I know a lot of people enjoy his experimental stuff, but personally, I think he has some insane songs or even albums that he pulls out of a long line of...well not as good stuff. It's just the natural course of things when you produce so MUCH work, of course, there's gonna be a few flops and a few greats.
Of course, to him and most of his fans all of his songs are good, but I'm just sayin that's what blocks the "ratings" etc
@1234gnrslash Actually that would be so interesting to see what he himself thinks of his own songs. Too bad he doesn't exactly release a lot information -.- oh well
the first time i heard this song i thought 'i wish it didn't end like this'. But doesn't this song kind of feel like an experience that went just like that? Something that became a part of your life, you had the highest hopes for, and it all ended in the blink of an eye?
@VilleSkateKrewRep I have that as well. I think it's fair to say that most (if not all) of Buckethead's gentler guitar stuff is just freaking amazing.
I don't think Buckethead will ever be rated in a top ten liste of best guitarist of all time, and I feel it is truly a tragedy to music. He is underrated and underappreciated.
@thepalmetto well, what some ppl use to call music some others just call it "comercial shit to get good money out of it " =D.. And I think they won't ever give feedback to his music cause , obviously music for them is just a money-making way , so they won't ever recognize this beautiful music as that cause only a song from this man could make they'r comercial garbage look just like that.. pure comercial shit =D
He's over 40 years old? Age really isn't a variable to his fans when he has a mask to hide it. Some day he's going to pass away and we will all be like "WHY MUST THE GOOD DIE YOUNG?!?!" And his agent will be like "Dude he was 97." and we will say "oh."
He has so much humanity and soul in his music. Tremendous talent uninhibited by being himself anonymous. Its not fair to compare him to other players. He has a very unique signature sound. Players from all sorts of genres are listening to his playing.. Evolving with every output. Cant wait to hear whats next
I just read on wikipedia that Buckethead is 41 years old! Daaamn.. I thought he was way younger then that..Doesn't really matter tho, his music is still awesome.
@LostandRecovered. Yap, you´re absolutely right. E major is, like, the first choice to write a beautiful song. A and B major also amazing keys to write in. You get the open strings option a lot, and that adds up to the beauty of a composition
@vampirobrm yeah many people will agree buckehtead is better. One great quote from Dave Mustaine is "Buckethead is a better guitarist than me and slash combined" Aside from that Slash has even admitted himself that Buckethead is better than him.
@lordofrandomness4 Let me know if you find out, cuz I am looking also. It's a shame there is such limited record distribution for his material. Anyone can go buy a beatles or michael jackson cd at the nearest walmart. AND WE CAN'T GET ANY FUCKING BUCKETHEAD?! WTF GAY. Well I know where to find some, just not this damn album.
Buckethead is amazing and it pisses me off when people talk shit about him i mean seriousy i dont know anyone that has made 27 albums and is still going strong I mean How are you gonna compare slash to buckethead!?
Slash is trash (Compared to buckethead!) There no where near on the same skill level.. And ill just leave it at this Slash<buckethead :D
2:38-2:57 my favorite part, it just feels like the day picking up after something very tragic occuring but then you're finally able to find the beauty in something and it lifts you're mood up again.
I hope I get to see Buckethead in real life at least once, I am currently 14 and I live nowhere near where he does any of his concerts and I sure hope I catch one before it's too late.
@Diffle Before you start acting stupid, specifically a smart ass, where is there any information supporting your claim that he got hit by a car? The only information released about his illness and what happened was given by Bootsy's tweets. Look them up, there is no information about a car accident, or anything else that happened specifically.
Just accept that he got a herniated disk, don't start rumors.
@ShadowNinjaGhost Sigh, I'm not being a smartass. I'm saying that injury could easily occur in a car accident. I'm not starting rumors, I'm spreading them. I read a comment that he was in a car accident. Either way, he's not playing due to an injury, car crash or not.
@DigitalxFe3r I fucking love that game!! lol funny thing i haven't thought of that game until you said something...i think im going to go play it now. :P
...and I love anything he does with Dan Monti. That guy's got vision. I'd still like to know who plays drums on The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock. Nobody's credited and the drumming is mind-bogglingly excellent. Does anyone know?
@RRfan761 Buckethead NEVER drums. He either gets programmed drums or he gets Brian Mantias (AKA Brain) to drum for him. I think he may have had a few others drum as well, but for the majority of his solo albums, it's either Brain or programmed.
@Diffle actually on ISOT he did all of the drumming, bass playing, and guitar playing on every track except Vol. 13 and I believe Vol. 2 track 2. He used the tamborine beat from "They're Coming to Take Me Away Ha-Haaa!"
i love this album.the guitar work is classic "b" and also refreshing but i think the tracks should be longer.i love sea wall, sled ride, shadows and chaos a lot.
@niteshadowXx I only nicked a curb on the first day, but I think that's pretty good considering I was driving with my eyes rolled back in my head from the music.

i love bh sentimental, soft , clean songs.. one of my favorite all time cd is colma
but in MY opinion this cd and a real diamond in the rough are nice sounded but boring
unlike colma or electric tears, i easyly get tired of listening to it
its just an opinion
this songs have no personality except one or 2.. (shadows between the sky is one oh them)
you cant compare this tracks with wishing well , whitewash, witches on the heath , padmasana, spell of the gypses etc
i dont know what do you think?
facugtr 1 year ago
I agree a little bit with you when you said A Real Diamond In The Rough is good but a bit boring.
But again, there's no way to match Colma in any possible way...
The album was pretty deep from the making to the release of it.
Anyways, i loved Shadows Between the Sky, it's really amazing and shows some changes in Buckethead 's musicianship.
I love it, he's taking another step foward and that amazes me the most... the guy has no limits.

I don't think A Real Diamond In The Rough was boring. You have to superimpose it over some activity or else it becomes background music pulled into the foreground where it doesn't belong.
