who does this guy think he is? what has he ever acomplished? all this redneck does is constantly diminish an entire culture (way of thinking) or the efford of a lot of people with a few words. this asshole just mockes and gets helpfulness, trust and friendly respectfulness in return, althoug, as the portrays it, everyone was educated to hate him. i dont have anything to do with NK or asia, but i am truely disguested by this man!
@aleken - lol .. He's not a redneck. Rednecks wouldn't be able to do these things. Rednecks are small portions of people stereotyped to be really dumb and crazy, tend to live in Alabama, Tennessee or Mississippi and basically are scums .. But that's about 2% of the US population :]
Everyone who watches this documentary should be aware of the fact that many of the North Korean guides who appear in it are likely being tortured in a gulag at this very moment.
@evilnomad111 Keep thinking that. I'm not aware of any socialist society in the world that is successful (Sweden doesn't count because it's whiteyville and easy to implement socialism when everyone looks alike)
...So sweden doesn't count because it fits a biased opinion that you have about the place? Not very logical. Socialist societies are places where the distribution of wealth, class, and social status are equal amungst it's people. Yes, dictators have been known to grab power and use these systems, however it doesn't mean that socialism is "bad." The french and germans live under a socialist economy. Its funny; more equal countries have more healthy and happier people. Even Japan.
@evilnomad111 Germany has been curtailing immigration of muslims recently. They believe that returning to racial purity is the way to go. Also, they are extremely intolerant of Roma like most europeans. Also, Germany is about as socialist as we are a democracy. That is to say, they're not socialist. For example, their secondary mortgage market isn't socialized like ours is. Nieve individuals look only to healthcare and such as their litmus test. Also, Germans are not welfare queens.
There is truth there, however racism isn't exactly caused by socialism. It's caused by our cultural climate. If you aregue that, then I can argue that Capitalism generates racism as well. The medium in the exchange of money doesn't cause racial bigotry. Cultural climate does. If you check professor wilkinson's study on class division, you will find that Germany is more socialist than America.
@evilnomad111 I'm merely saying that without a pure society you cannot have socialism. That is why it is typically successful [sic] in pre-collapse Iceland, Japan, Sweden,Norway,etc. It does not necessitate success, but it is a requirement. Germany may be more socialist than American,but Germany is not socialist. They are highly productive and do not tolerate welfare queens at all. Greece being a very important point. The people are pissed and are taking it out on the electorate.
I we both have a different semantic approach to the word "socialism" thus leading to different conclusions. The websters definition is state ownership of capital and industry. Believe it or not, the state in Germany does own plenty of capital and industry. So does any other nation that I have mentioned. I think your definition doesn't fit the actual definition. Yes, greece isn't in the best of conditions, however we weren't at one point either, nor are we now.
@evilnomad111 Our government as of right now owns more capital than they ever could. The FMs collectively own the lion's share of private real estate, easily dwarfing their industrial base. The FMs are nationalized. Trillions owned by Uncle Sugar. Our government also owns a huge portion of national parks and their respective resources, and is collecting more land as we speak.
@evilnomad111 I mean uniform. Everyone is white, asian, black, whatever. No diversity. Minorities are generally looked down upon (e.g., Roma). The more uniform, the better their "socialism" works.
I don't like it personally. I'd rather have a free market and be respectful towards minorities than live in a predominately one color society.
Now are they 100 percent socialist? No. However they are better off health wise than we are. They aren't welfare queens either, however they have a smaller welfare gap than we do. I don't agree with monetary systems in general, however more equal countries have happier citizens. It's just a fact, not my biased opinion.
@evilnomad111 Equal countries require a uniform race. Several "socialist" countries like Sweden make it public record for who is leeching as a requirement, to bring shame to that person to "get with the program". France is probably the closest to diverse and socialist, and they have experienced chronic high unemployment even during the Bush years when we were prospering. Plus there are massive racial riots.
Also, these countries have a very limited tenure with "socialism", maybe 20 or 30 years.
I diddn't say socialism is the way to go in any given society, however if you were to do a comparative analysis to the US and Japan, or even Germany, they pretty much beat us at health, happiness, well being, and education. Yes they have their social problems, however thats an environmental predisposition. I personally don't agree with the concept of money at all and think it causes much of our social problems. But thats a different discussion.
@evilnomad111 Even in Gene Roddenberry's sci-fi utopian fantasy, the Federation relied on money (even though they falsely claimed they did not). Money is required as a medium of exchange in place of bartering, and it is more efficient. You may be thinking of the evils of fiat currency and fractional reserve banking.
No, just money in general. The world health organization came out with a study that showed we can feed, cloth, and shelter every human being on the face of the planet, however we can't because we don't have the "money" to do so. With our current state of technology, we can create abundance for the whole world with the strategic allocation of our resources, regardless of price. The monetary system is a result of 1 percent of the earths population owns 40 percent of the earths assets.
@evilnomad111 So we feed and clothe everyone right now vis-a-vis pure redistribution.That policy will remove incentive to produce future food and clothing for these individuals.What happens when they come hungry next harvest and the farmers stop?My folks lived in communist Hungary.They refused to give enough food(as required by law)to feed Budapest residents,because they were already on the brink themselves.They produced less because if they produced too much,the commissar would note the surplus
Well, human labor (about 98 percent of all labor) can be replaced by technological labor. In other words, there would be no reason for people to submit to jobs that holds no social relevance to society. That can actually free human beings to do whatever they wanted to. Incentive doesn't come from money, reward comes from the invention itself. And trust me, if we had a social system where it actually cared for human well being, you will have people volanteering to make sure its ok.
@evilnomad111 We already have such a social system. It's called non-profits, philanthropy, and churches. Only a perverse system would substitute socialism for charity. Cite on the 98%? I'm eager to see it.
Well, non profits just complain about our current system and doesn't really present viable soloutions. Furthermore, they try to work out these problems with money, not science and technology. Our social issues are technical, not political, religious, or racial. They are all human problems, that demand a technical soloution, not a monetary one.
@evilnomad111 Like I said, even in sci-fi fiction, resources and labor were required to make stuff. Gold was a currency just as it always has been. Someone had to construct the food replicators, shuttlecrafts, and other things. The automation equipment has to be designed, and not everyone gets satisfaction from the finished product alone. That's the wonderful thing about us humans, we are motivated by different things. Some family, some money, some technology.
This isn't science fiction I'm talking about. Every single day when you drive a car, go in an air liner, shop, stay warm, type on the comupter, you are entrusting a machine to do it's "job." Machines are more efficient at creating things and working than humans are. Even right now, the service sector is being replaced by machine labor. Thats a fact. The only reasons why certain things motivate us is based on our exposure. Sorry to say,but money was never the incentive for inventions
@evilnomad111 We'll have to agree to disagree on the motivating factor behind inventions. IMO, the guy who built a better mousetrap is often motivated by money. He/she wants a better lifestyle and go beyond "simply existing" with the rest of society. They want the large house, the fast car, etc.
I never knew that robots could mine for essential minerals autonomously?
Well, I am talking more about the inventions that actually benefit society. The wright brothers and einstein diddn't endeavor to discover what they did for the incentive of money. Infact, the federal reserve came out with a studty that proved when offered a monetary incentive, people perform worse as opposed to their own endeavors.
And yes, robots can mine for essential minerals. That technology does exist.
@evilnomad111 The technology may exist but the problem is chicken and egg. What powers the robots? Coal (from electricity). How is the coal extracted? With more robots. Compared to human labor which expends much fewer calories than a robot in many tasks, robots in this sort of seemingly endless cycle of required energy would be very inefficient and extremely harmful to the environment. The only solution would be slave labor, which is tantamount to most successful socialist societies.
Wind, solar, tidal, wave, and geothermal technology are the few of the medians that can produce abundant and clean energy. We've actually launched satellites in space that can capture more than enough of the earth's light to provide the means of energy for it's users. There is enough geothermal energy that-when tapped-can power the entire planet for 4,000 years. We don't need coal. Machines are proven to be more efficient than human labor.
@evilnomad111 Wind and solar provides a TINY fraction of required energy. Geothermal is great if you live in Iceland. Like natural gas, it cannot be easily transported. That leaves you coal and oil. If such a satellite has been launched, we would have used that energy. Energy is a national security issue and the gov't would not withhold it for use. If coal wasn't necessary, it wouldn't be used. Electricity needs coal, plain and simple.
@evilnomad111 Additionally, I'm a doctoral student in comp sci, specializing in AI. Not robotics (data mining), but I have robotics colleagues and rest assured that while advances have been made, the complexities of running a mine automatically cannot be done through this method. Perhaps the strip mining process can be done through cranes without humans, but the process of harvesting the resources is entirely complex, likely a host of NP complete problems involved.
To the contrary, the US has the most health and psychological problems than any other place on the planet. Why? Because of social stratification. When there is a major gap in classes, and you are treated like dirt if you work in a minimum wage paying job, you are most likely to be stressed and have health problems. We're all about consuming and GDP, NOT human well being. Thats our biggest issue in America. Plus, we have the biggest addiction crisis. Why? Becuase of our culture.
@evilnomad111 That just means that we are more like our European cousins that we realized. We are selective about our freedoms, just as they are. They cannot separate state and economy. We cannot separate state and church (and economy to a lesser degree). We won't allow pot. They won't allow guns.
@Gjallarhorn88 Well, the world didn't go to war to help the jews actually. They went because they were physically provoked with an army... not because of moral reasons.
Just one thing I cannot respect NorthKorea for and that is the one-sidedness of it all. Granted, it is a propaganda video but EVERYTHING is propaganda! This is brain-washing at it's best. If they disagreed with the US they should have at least stated why and how they disagreed with proper explanation. Not something like "Because they are BAD PLE". Wow. What the.
Y'know, the human mind is a gazillion times more scary than a nuke.
@lakeeriejew True, Kim Jong Il and his sons are the only fat North Koreans I've ever seen lol. The rest suffer from the complete opposite : Malnutrition.
This is very interesting stuff. Obviously since N. Korea is very enclusive. The hermit kingdom. For some odd reason I would love to visit N. Korea. Yeah its scary but I find it interesting. With N. Korea's provocation of the South, they are only hurting themselves as the world is not sympathedic to N. Korea. especially if they have an unprovoked attack on the South.
Also are you going to start WW3 because I would quit university just to join the Canadian Forces and finish you guys off. I mean I would actually put my life on hold so I could be in a war and literally crush your country's weak soldiers as they attempt a pathetic bayonet zerg rush. Long Live the true free Korea the South.
@OfficialChannelDPRK You claim that all those who defect from North Korea and talk about it are paid actors? Where is your evidence for this claim?
Regarding there not being anyone IN North Korea who say they hate where they live, has it not escaped your notice watching these documentaries that the government keeps a very VERY tight control on what the outside world sees? If you claim that, even though human opinion is naturally very diverse, that EVERYONE loves North Korea, show evidence.
@OfficialChannelDPRK Everyone? But I don't, so it's not everyone. And what about people who leave North Korea on their own free will? How on earth can you possibly say, with the sheer diversity of human opinion on the planet, that EVERYONE wants to live in that country? Come to think of it, why--as your Youtube channel states--are YOU in Macao if North Korea is so perfect?
LOL at the indoctrination video, with the 40-years-outdated photo of Lyndon Johnson in the Oval Office plotting and scheming!
I heard recently that LBJ isn't the President anymore? In fact, I think he might be deceased!! So I don't think he's "longing for a chance for a preemptive strike against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" anymore.
Do the North Koreans know that? Or do they think our Presidents stay in power and live forever?
so part 4 and no VICE yet? Did you ask this tour guide if she is married? Or knows where you can find some cute girls or some Hennessey? They have to party sometime.
why socialism must be like a monarchy??? The president gave the "throne" to his son years ago, and now the new president gives to his younger son too. I answer to myself...Socialism souldn't be the goverrment of the people??? I only see family's goverments in socialist countrys. Otherwise in Cuba, Fidel Castro's brother is the president now.
@carlosuruguayo1 Socialism necessarily turns into Marxism/Maoism/Fidelism simply because incentives are taken away for people to become prosperous. Productive citizens expatriate and inevitably the borders must be sealed and people indoctrinated to love their form of government. The idealistic minded socialists are typically liquidated as soon as possible to prevent non-practical implementations from becoming mainstream. This list of people includes professors and other intellectuals.
Cuba is not a socialistic country, nor communistic... Its run by a dictator, so is NK.
Countrys run by socialism are probarly the best countrys in the world to live in, like Sweden for example; Free food in school, free health care, free organic transplations,.
@carlosuruguayo1 Every (and I mean EVERY) social system (democracy included) will degenerate into aristocracy VERY QUICKLY if not closely watched over. Unfortunately, the USA has the same problem.
@carlosuruguayo1 this is NOT socialism... socialism never exists completely because greed is an inherent part of the human emotions. Socialism is pretty much an excuse nowadays and likely will be so forever :(
Whats the immigration rate to North Korea?

...This is definatley not a socialist society. It's a totalitarian dicatorship....BIG difference.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Keep thinking that. I'm not aware of any socialist society in the world that is successful (Sweden doesn't count because it's whiteyville and easy to implement socialism when everyone looks alike)
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
...So sweden doesn't count because it fits a biased opinion that you have about the place? Not very logical. Socialist societies are places where the distribution of wealth, class, and social status are equal amungst it's people. Yes, dictators have been known to grab power and use these systems, however it doesn't mean that socialism is "bad." The french and germans live under a socialist economy. Its funny; more equal countries have more healthy and happier people. Even Japan.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Germany has been curtailing immigration of muslims recently. They believe that returning to racial purity is the way to go. Also, they are extremely intolerant of Roma like most europeans. Also, Germany is about as socialist as we are a democracy. That is to say, they're not socialist. For example, their secondary mortgage market isn't socialized like ours is. Nieve individuals look only to healthcare and such as their litmus test. Also, Germans are not welfare queens.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
There is truth there, however racism isn't exactly caused by socialism. It's caused by our cultural climate. If you aregue that, then I can argue that Capitalism generates racism as well. The medium in the exchange of money doesn't cause racial bigotry. Cultural climate does. If you check professor wilkinson's study on class division, you will find that Germany is more socialist than America.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 I'm merely saying that without a pure society you cannot have socialism. That is why it is typically successful [sic] in pre-collapse Iceland, Japan, Sweden,Norway,etc. It does not necessitate success, but it is a requirement. Germany may be more socialist than American,but Germany is not socialist. They are highly productive and do not tolerate welfare queens at all. Greece being a very important point. The people are pissed and are taking it out on the electorate.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
Yes, greece isn't in the best of conditions, however we weren't at one point either, nor are we now.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Our government as of right now owns more capital than they ever could. The FMs collectively own the lion's share of private real estate, easily dwarfing their industrial base. The FMs are nationalized. Trillions owned by Uncle Sugar. Our government also owns a huge portion of national parks and their respective resources, and is collecting more land as we speak.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
And what do you mean by having a "pure' society?
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 I mean uniform. Everyone is white, asian, black, whatever. No diversity. Minorities are generally looked down upon (e.g., Roma). The more uniform, the better their "socialism" works.
I don't like it personally. I'd rather have a free market and be respectful towards minorities than live in a predominately one color society.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
Now are they 100 percent socialist? No. However they are better off health wise than we are. They aren't welfare queens either, however they have a smaller welfare gap than we do. I don't agree with monetary systems in general, however more equal countries have happier citizens. It's just a fact, not my biased opinion.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Equal countries require a uniform race. Several "socialist" countries like Sweden make it public record for who is leeching as a requirement, to bring shame to that person to "get with the program". France is probably the closest to diverse and socialist, and they have experienced chronic high unemployment even during the Bush years when we were prospering. Plus there are massive racial riots.
Also, these countries have a very limited tenure with "socialism", maybe 20 or 30 years.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
But thats a different discussion.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Even in Gene Roddenberry's sci-fi utopian fantasy, the Federation relied on money (even though they falsely claimed they did not). Money is required as a medium of exchange in place of bartering, and it is more efficient. You may be thinking of the evils of fiat currency and fractional reserve banking.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
The monetary system is a result of 1 percent of the earths population owns 40 percent of the earths assets.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 So we feed and clothe everyone right now vis-a-vis pure redistribution.That policy will remove incentive to produce future food and clothing for these individuals.What happens when they come hungry next harvest and the farmers stop?My folks lived in communist Hungary.They refused to give enough food(as required by law)to feed Budapest residents,because they were already on the brink themselves.They produced less because if they produced too much,the commissar would note the surplus
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
And trust me, if we had a social system where it actually cared for human well being, you will have people volanteering to make sure its ok.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 We already have such a social system. It's called non-profits, philanthropy, and churches. Only a perverse system would substitute socialism for charity. Cite on the 98%? I'm eager to see it.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
Well, non profits just complain about our current system and doesn't really present viable soloutions. Furthermore, they try to work out these problems with money, not science and technology. Our social issues are technical, not political, religious, or racial. They are all human problems, that demand a technical soloution, not a monetary one.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Like I said, even in sci-fi fiction, resources and labor were required to make stuff. Gold was a currency just as it always has been. Someone had to construct the food replicators, shuttlecrafts, and other things. The automation equipment has to be designed, and not everyone gets satisfaction from the finished product alone. That's the wonderful thing about us humans, we are motivated by different things. Some family, some money, some technology.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
Sorry to say,but money was never the incentive for inventions
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 We'll have to agree to disagree on the motivating factor behind inventions. IMO, the guy who built a better mousetrap is often motivated by money. He/she wants a better lifestyle and go beyond "simply existing" with the rest of society. They want the large house, the fast car, etc.
I never knew that robots could mine for essential minerals autonomously?
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
That technology does exist.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 The technology may exist but the problem is chicken and egg. What powers the robots? Coal (from electricity). How is the coal extracted? With more robots. Compared to human labor which expends much fewer calories than a robot in many tasks, robots in this sort of seemingly endless cycle of required energy would be very inefficient and extremely harmful to the environment. The only solution would be slave labor, which is tantamount to most successful socialist societies.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
Machines are proven to be more efficient than human labor.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Wind and solar provides a TINY fraction of required energy. Geothermal is great if you live in Iceland. Like natural gas, it cannot be easily transported. That leaves you coal and oil. If such a satellite has been launched, we would have used that energy. Energy is a national security issue and the gov't would not withhold it for use. If coal wasn't necessary, it wouldn't be used. Electricity needs coal, plain and simple.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 Additionally, I'm a doctoral student in comp sci, specializing in AI. Not robotics (data mining), but I have robotics colleagues and rest assured that while advances have been made, the complexities of running a mine automatically cannot be done through this method. Perhaps the strip mining process can be done through cranes without humans, but the process of harvesting the resources is entirely complex, likely a host of NP complete problems involved.
julebuggy 1 year ago
@julebuggy
Why? Becuase of our culture.
evilnomad111 1 year ago
@evilnomad111 That just means that we are more like our European cousins that we realized. We are selective about our freedoms, just as they are. They cannot separate state and economy. We cannot separate state and church (and economy to a lesser degree). We won't allow pot. They won't allow guns.

@carlosuruguayo1 Socialism necessarily turns into Marxism/Maoism/Fidelism simply because incentives are taken away for people to become prosperous. The idealistic minded socialists are typically liquidated as soon as possible to prevent non-practical implementations from becoming mainstream.
