@seth3556r HaHaha, you wish mate! The SR is a very versatile bass. This bass is very good for metal as well! And why a 6 string? They are great for metal (if it's your style), but 5 string are enough though.
@Basstard22 Ah, I just thought it would open up the possibilities of some of John Myung's concepts. And I agree... extremely versatile. I only stick with 5 strings myself. the 6th string to me is just an add on like an 8 string guitar.... you only need the seven of them. lol
@seth3556r John Myung is a very good bassist! And I have too agree : For the things he does, 5 strings are enough.. But it's all about the feeling of the neck, right?
Maybe his hands feel like ''overshooting the neck'' on a 5 string?
And if it comes too the 7 string guitar : That's the maximum it should have. Don't see why people want a F# string as the bottom string.. Not really my style.. Heck, for bass even worse! You wouldn't hear the bass, just feel it through the amp! XD
@Basstard22 eh, depends. when it comes to music I'm kind of a phase shifter, so when I'm playing prog rock or metal he definitely is one of the biggest influences. most of the time I'm inspired by early bebop, bossa nova, and gypsy jazz. also bill dickens and victor wooten
@Basstard22 Meshuggah really did the 8 string guitar justice imo, they brought a great deal of originality to the table with the expanded range of their instrument that couldn't have been done by just down-tuning a standard 7 string guitar.
@schwarg You are indeed right there! But only thing different is compared with the 6 string bass : The 8 string guitar has 1 string which is lower then a 7 string guitar. The 6 string bass get's a higher string then a 5 stringer. So for Meshuggah's stye it's ''normal'' to have a 8 string guitar, since they DO use all strings. John Myung however doesn't use the C string that much. That's why in my opion, a 5 string bass would be enough for this style. But it's all a matter of taste, isnt it ;-) ?
Hey, that switch you referred to as a "slap switch" isn't actually that. It's a frequency selector for the mid-range control that switches between 250Hz and 600Hz, the same as the other SR's that have the same electronics. Check the website out for proof :)
What is it like with heavy metal music?

@MrWavyDavyBoy It's best for Jazz and Funk. It can work for metal but you're best with metal on an ESP 6 string.
