Oops... dumb question, I just saw your web site! Nice site. Ill be getting some for sure. A more sensible question though is about the pocket that holds the steal ball. Does the pocket seal closed, or are they more of a "pouch" and rely on centrifugal force to keep the ball in?
@sideways555 its a good question. I rely on centrifugal force. If you're new to the weapon, DON'T train with the steal ball, you'll kill yourself. But I like it this way for two reasons. In terms of self defense, you've really only got a few strikes with this before you've connected, missed, or wrapped the opponent. The ball shouldn't fall out in a short period of all out effort, or at least I haven't had trouble with it falling out in this way.
The pockets are left open and rely on centriful force for 2 reasons. 1 is that the balls are excellent close quarter striking tools, and I want to have the option to use them that way. The second is because, though in training you have a continuous flow, when you strike with this, the flow is broken quickly, you'd be lucky to get more than 1 or 2 consecutive strikes. The ball should remain chambered through that.
Mad skills mate! I saw your other vid with the meteor hammer and I think your even better with that! I have only ever used 6mm rope with mine which is hard on the hands. The idea of using silk is outstanding! Can you buy these or did you make them?
Sick video! very jealous of your aerial ability. never heard of sash whips before. to me they just look like extra long poi. Actually you would do well to learn a few poi tricks, they'd probably help your sash whip ability once you get both of them out.
I went to your website... beautiful site and stunning products. overall really, really impressed with all your stuff! keep up the good work
@Poidojo thanks poiojo. And thanks for having a look at my website. Sash whips are my design...as far as I know. There are fabric weapons in classical kung fu, but these are my adaptations from my nine segment lash training.
And I'd like to learn a bit of poi at some point, its a good idea.
@ShaolinRopeDart Funny, I found this video while looking for new poi ideas. I've always wanted to learn rope dart too, and cheers on the "Sash Whips" idea.
I am quite impressed, you are very good. Not quite as good as the guy I saw do sash dart using a standard tiger claw sash. But he doesn't do the normal spins like chainwhip at all. I've never seen anyone do whip-dart the way he does... But as RollingFire stated, you are very fluid and your gymnastics were smooth, too. Far better than I am in both areas!
Something I saw him perfect once before he left chains altogether (for he found them too clunky), was the double ended whip. Ever tried it?
@shaolinacademy Oh you mean Meteors!? I do and love meteors. I Take 2 rope darts coil knotted and linked together to make my meteors(about 10ft). Can also let them loose in mid spin for max range of 24ft (providing immense centriptial force) They're fun when short cause you can toss em up high and go into poi and staff techniques.
I love it Ive seen sash whip only once and it was similar but they didnt go into dbl chainwhip style. I love your airials anf the flow was respectable. good work
wow I thought it was only in movies
