MANY, MANY THANKS FOR CREATING THIS VIDEO! MY SWEET AND GENTLE LADY -- MY HEAVENLY-RESPLENDENT WIFE, BARBRA, IS A LAMB IN HEAVEN WHO IS NOW SLEEPING IN THE ARMS OF THE LION OF JUDAH -- JESUS THE CHRIST. I PRAY AND HOPE MY BARBRA COMES BACK FOR ME VERY SOON. BARBRA - I MISS YOU BEYOND WORDS. BARBRA -- I LOVE YOU BEYOND SPACE/TIME! WE WERE TOGETHER FOR ONLY TWO YEARS. BARBRA JEAN "ROSE" RAGAN (JUNE 23, 1967 -- NOVEMBER 21/22, 2010). A GOD-GRACED AND MERRY CHRISTMAS 2011 TO ALL!
Yikes, you're right - I can't believe I didn't catch that when I first posted it. I originally mixed it up because there is a "Star Carol" choral piece or something by Rutter. I did learn the difference, though, but I thought I changed that! Thanks for noticing! I had a nice e-mail exchange with a Burt family member, so I'm embarrassed to have gotten this wrong! I will fix it as soon as I get a chance!
The credits at the end of this upload incorrectly credit the writing of this song to John Rutter. This Star Carol was written in 1954 by Alfred S. Burt (music) and Wilha Hutson (lyrics), the organist of Alfred Burt's father's episcopal church.
@rpaltza1 THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION REGARDING THIS LOVELY SONG! I'VE ALWAYS LIKED THIS GORGEOUS SONG EVER SINCE I HEARD SIMON AND GARFUNKEL'S SIMPLE AND LOVELY VERSION. YES! I REMEMBER ANNA MARIA ALBERGHETTI! THIS IS A SPLENDID SONG TO PLAY FOR LITTLE ONES ON DECEMBER NIGHTS (AND ON CHRISTMAS EVE). I'VE DEDICATED THIS SUBLIME SONG IN MEMORY OF MY HEAVENLY-RESPLENDENT WIFE -- MY DIVINELY- LOVELY WESTERN STAR -- MY BARBRA. BARBRA JEAN "ROSE" RAGAN ( JUNE 23, 1967 -- NOV. 21/22, 2010)
Hi! I grew up with that song too! This "Star Carol" was written by Al Burt, who was a friend of our family in North Hollywood. John Rutter wrote another "Star Carol". Check it out on YouTube! I'd love to get my hands on that album of yours!
I cannot thank you enough for posting this, my all time favorite Christmas song/recording. My mother had this album, too, one of those collections that had a variety of Christmas music. It reminds me of her, she left us 9 years ago. A few years back, someone on YouTube sent me this thru her mpg, but it expired. So to all who cherish this wonderful song, Merry Christmas to us all.
Anybody know what the lyrics are? I have a recording of this beautiful carol -- music only -- and I would like the choir at my church to be able to sing this for Christmas. If anyone could send them to me at their earliest convenience, I would appreciate it.
@all4amcandoltl Long years ago, on a deep winter night. High in the heavens, a star shone bright. While in the manger, a wee baby lay. Sweetly asleep, on a bed of hay. Jesus our lord, was that baby so small. Lay down to sleep, in a humble stall. Then came the star, and it stood over head. Shedding its light, 'round his little head. Dear baby Jesus, how tiny thou art. I'll make a place, for thee in my heart. And when the stars, in the heavens I see. Ever and always, I'd think of thee...
My parents had this album as well.... and I stole it when I went to college. I still own it, but have tried to replace individual songs with digital copies whenever possible.
This track still eludes me, although I did find a pretty close facsimile on a Peggy Lee CD. Thanks for posting.

I still have that album. I think that's the same album that has a version of the Ava Maria by Isaac Stern.
