Absolutely beautiful and haunting melody, gives me goosebumps every time i hear this song!!!, what a band! true legends, amazing how music takes you back to your teens !
Thanks for posting this fantastic track isabelle, I believe its a sad lament telling the tale of a wife watching her husband going off to a war that she knows he will not return from.Another classic bc track that seems even more poignant now.
Your dead right. When BC released "The Crossing" album back in the day I played it over and over again. Still do today. Real shame that Stu isnt here to produce music like this....
I was there. It was a mix of sadness (it was their last concert) and happiness: ever so brilliant ilve.. and it was very hot!
I do not know how many concerts I saw, but they were all so very good.. Met Sruart twice in person. He shared his water with me and was very friendly.. I have been a fan for over 25 years and I miss seeing them live..
At that time, yes, probably. I have never been a fan before and never after. It was so special.. So, yes, I know. Keep enjoying them. They deserve it.
I had the pleasure of seeing big country 4 times in the 80's, superb live every time. What a terrible loss Stuart Adamson was, he was such a great guy. Brian xx
One of the greatest and underrated anti-war songs ever written. This is sung from the viewpoint of the widow of the young soldier who dies fighting in the Falklands war in Where The Rose Is Sown, which precedes this song on the Steeltown album.
It's difficult to watch such a great performance and not get melancholy. Stuart is greatly missed. I'm grateful for all the postings, which to me are treasures, because I never saw the band play live. Thanks Isabelle!
