It is not linux based, it runs UIQ 3.1 (based on symbian os 9.1). Although, the Z8's predecessor, the ROKR Z6 was running a linux based OS.

get a usb cord and a memory card and then plug it in and follow the directions to install the usb to ur computer then just drag and click to the removable icon thing and thats pretty much it
