  • @MASTER0KuSh lol if you read the comments posted right before yours you will understand why there are dylan clips.

  • Shine On Syd. =:):::

  • Oh I take back my last comment, read your explanation!

  • @brianstorm1234 hahah no worries. Not many people know Syd was such a big Dylan fan.

  • Im quite sure thats Bob Dylan at 1:39

  • @brianstorm1234 Yep, I have to post a comment explaining this maybe once or twice a year lol. Bob was one of Syd's idols. There are actually 2 photos of Bob. There is a photo of Syd at a young age with his guitar followed by Bob as a kid holding a guitar.

  • And then the next Bob photo is in line with one of Syd at a similar age, and they look so much a like. I was just trying to show some of their resemblances. The 2 photos of Bob I actually pulled out of a video I saw for the song "Bob Dylan Blues" written by Syd when he was young, Which he then recorded after he left Pink Floyd

  • What is Pink Floyd. You are watching it.

  • Thanks, much appreciated.

  • SYD started it all r.i.p my brother

  • R.I.P Syd :(

  • Barrett was more aware of "reality" than any of the other members. He just couldnt feed the corporate money hungry war machine as well as the rest with mainstream singles so he has been labeled the outcast. Disolving your ego with LSD seems weird to the rabbit chasing the carrot dangling from a stick, but at the end of the day(or life) it makes much more sense than buying into the flawed human condition. Just my 2 cents

  • @SpiderShane1 he just made a mistake and convinced himself the world was terrible (the world is wrong in many aspects, but that's no reason to repress yourself), but that didn't make him crazy; people called him crazy (the media and the ignorant fear of the floyd). but even most psychologists don't know what the word "experience" or "friend" or "love" or "belief" means

  • @SpiderShane1 egodeath is worth alot more than 2 cents brutha

  • You have made a very sincere and beautiful attempt to highlight the overall persona of the Crazy Diamond. I convey my most humble gratitude to you for acknowledging the prowess of 'mad genius' called Roger Keith Barrett.

  • @xaverianpeterpan Thank you very much for your comment. Very well said. And I am glad you enjoyed. It was the least I could do for someone that I have admired for so long. He deserves so much more recognition than I could ever give him but I thought this would be a good start.

  • @ChriscoMI can you imagine were all alive and went on a world tour and played wish you were here dark side of the moon albums back to back same goes for lennon and george also freddie mercury. all the greats are gone too soon im glad i was born in 77 when music was treated still as art and a way of life. fell sorry for this generation

  • @kalen486 Well said, and things have definitely taken a turn for the worse with this generation. Music just isn't what it used to be.

  • Some say that Pink Floyd/Syd are kinda overhyped. I respect their viewpoint, but would like to say that without Syd there would not have been Pink Floyd, and without his rather tragic and poetic withdrawal, music lovers worldwide would have been deprived of some of the most excellent, brilliant, and intense compositions that anyone can relate to and give a vent to her/his feelings. I would add that let bygones be bygones, Waters deserves equal love and respect as Nick, Dave, Bob, and Wright.

  • This song has soooo much meaning. Do you think you can tell????

  • Roger WAters bring back the wall?! discuss

  • This video and comments are the first ever to show and tell me the final portions of the complicated story I've wondered about for a long, long time. I'm 55, and saw PF perform several times, the first time about 25 years ago. I knew bits from other sources about the Syd part of the first chapter of the band, but not until I saw this did I get the last missing pieces of the story. It seems like the last one left to turn out the lights is Gilmore.. Well done.

  • Thank you for watching. Comments like this are what make uploading videos it worth.

  • Syd seemed to be mellow. He was a cool cat.

  • @mexicanmetalhead666 I thought Gilmour contested to never doing drugs?

  • 'mex, Gilmour did contest that the Floyd didn't do drugs but he was probably high as a kite when he said it. lol

  • agreed lol. listen to him on live at Pompeii i love all of their interviews

  • Now the movie makes sense for me, thanks.

  • your partially correct. If you watch the 25th anniversary edition of the wall roger explains it all.He says the half with younger "pink" is basically a autobiography but the scenes when "pink" is older are more based around the life of syd. Just loosely based around stuff he did like trashing hotel rooms and being too high to perform. stuff like that.

  • @ChriscoMI Also, I believe I've heard Roger Waters say that the part in The Wall when Pink is covered in wax after the doctors shot him up, is that syd covered himself in wax for a performance, but i could be wrong, and great video, i love syd and his music to death and this video just made me think of him even more. Good Job.

  • @skovie23232 Yes good point. I remember hearing that as well. Syd is the man

  • The movie "The Wall" Was about him, right?

  • partially. a few of the scenes from the osecond hal of The Wall when the character is older, they were loosely based on Syd. But the first part of The Wall we are told is pretty well all about Rogers life growing up.

  • Ohh. I thought it was all about him. Haha, thank you.

  • 3:07 lol at rogers face

  • lol too good eh

  • nice clip man... brilliant

i subbed you... sub me back if you like

you might like my vids. music-related too

  • thanks dude, yea ill check out your vids

  • Shine On You Crazy Diamond =) We Love You =) RIP

  • Syd in our hearts forever ! Shine on you crazy diamond!

  • charisma < syd

  • love what you've put together here.brilliant.

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!

  • what is Bob Dylan doing there? :)

  • haha i have to explain this at least once a month. But Bob Dylan was a big influence for Syd and I just wanted to show some of the resemblance. I got the pictures of bob from a video I watched of Syd singing Bob Dylan Blues. Great song.

  • He's so awesome.

I really did miss out. I didn't even know who Syd Barrett was until two years after he died. :(

    Shine on!

  • He knows when you listen to his music. Its the best we can do to repay him now. lol

  • watch marnixdecroock - zabriskie point as my onw tribute to Syd and Rick

love you Pink (Andersson) Foyd (Council)

  • It told me you posted that video as a video response but Its' not in my inbox or anywhere that I can find so I apologize for not being able to accept it. Try again if you want.

  • great vid to m8

  • he was pink floyd from the start till the end, alot of floyds best was inspired by him, the best thing that he will always liv on as one of the best . rip syd

  • well said!! and thank you for your comment

  • thank u m8 i was reading some of the comments and its great to see people who r young that love em too im 19 and loved them since i was young i talk about floyd n barett to my m8s and they counldent give a shit but there the best im still trying to get there relly old stuff slowley , ill get there

  • Ahh I know exactly what your going through haha I would constantly play Floyd and even some of Barretts solo stuff to try and get them all into it. They all can appreciate it but only a few will now listen to it on their own. I think its just so unique some people are just not used to the style. But in my mind its genius. and Thanks!

  • That made me all emotional

    Loved Pink Floys first album

  • yes a saucer full of secrets is one of a kind

  • saucer full of secrets and piper at the gates of dawn are my favourites, yes

  • such a great man.thank you for uploading this

  • he deserves so much more

  • it was the least i could do but thank you for enjoying!

  • amazing clip

  • thanks! glad you enjoyed

  • hey chrisco where have you been? i miss you!!!!

  • damn he was hot!!!i miss him I'm 17 years old i love pink floyd!!! i just got the wall CD and the darkside of the moon 1973 LP and CD

  • ahh nice work! its good to see people still getting into floyd even though they've been done for a while now. I'm only 22 and I prolly got into pink floyd about 10 years ago now. Long live Pink floyd:)

  • :D they are the best band on this hole planet!! every song they did Is A Gem

  • ahh its so true. and every song is just so unique. There isn't a pink floyd song i dont enjoy listening to:)

  • Rock on :D Run Like Hell Is So amazing And Addicting! I Also Love Comfortably Numb & Any Colour You Like They Are Classics! it would be amazing to meet roger waters and dave gilmour

  • ahh would it everrr I've always wanted to see them perform live. Every year this cover band comes to town. Theyre the Australian pink floyd show. theyre the closest you can get. Theyre great they played at david gilmours wedding and floyd hooked them up with a lot of their old equipment. You'll have to check them out!

  • Definetly :) When Did They Stop Touring? I Think i Have Heard Of The Ausse Cover Band. I Think They Have A Album Out Of A Tribute To Pink Floyd I Think. But Wow I Had No Idea They Played At Dave's Wedding!! and that they were set up with Floyd's Old Equipment!

  • well since they split up they still do shows separately. Roger left but he has still been touring even though his voice has been really struggling lately. And david's been doing his solo thing with the help of rick and nick for a while before rick passed :(

So the rest of them still play just not as pink floyd i guess. But theyre still doing what they love which is great:)

  • what old equipment, weed? a nice quater of skunk?

  • yeah,it would. i'd put strychnine in a sandwich and watch them eat it!

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank You!

  • as i said 1 year ago, this tribute rocks.

    RIP Mr Barrett

  • Thanks! I really appriciate that and I wish that Syd could have seen it himself before he passed.

  • the video and the music together, it's just great. so unpathetic, yet powerful. a real tribute

  • Thanks, I really appreciate that!

  • true but he did continue to release solo albums after leaving the band. Music was undoubtedly one of his biggest passions

  • Syd has gone, but his songs will live forever in our hearts and in this world. He was a genius, but he passed away too son. Rest in peace, you fallen angel. Hope you finally found peace and happiness...

  • when he die?

  • 2006

  • july 2006

  • syd was such an atrractive talented man its really a shame he didn't always show his full potential and left pink floyd i really love him and do really wish he was here.

  • thank you for posting, 1st class job.

  • thank you! he was a great artist.

  • ojala estuvieras aqui Syd

  • Syd Barrett était à mon sens une exception dans l'univers musical, un être doué, affreusement beau et vulnérable, un génie obnubilé par l'Enfance et ses ferveurs d'amour et d'idéal ! Il me manque quand je le vois sur ces photos !

  • ok why is there a picture of bob dylan at 1:40

  • Well ive had to explain this in maybe 20 some comments now, but like i said, Bob was one of Syds biggest influences, the pictures and clips of Bob(thats Bob looking at the guitar shop) I took off of a very well done video I watched for the song Bob Dylan Blues sung by Syd himself. the sequence at 1:40 is showing even the resemblance in their physical style

  • I miss you syd! You did a great job. Syd is my hero. Please add and sub me.:D

  • great tribute(:

  • hahaha i was just wondering cuz that picture looks EXACTLY like a picture that someone took of me =)

  • hahah thats cool man, Syd had a great style, so props to you

  • where did u find the picture at 1:37??

  • ahh just some random syd fan site, I thanks everyone who has any for of website tributing syd its where I got everything for this video. Thank you all!

  • How we wish Syd were here

  • indeed

  • Hang on, was that Syd with an Asian chick in the pictures? It's no wonder he fucked up with the band then, Asian chicks ALWAYS fuck up up your life...........Always!

  • hahah u may be onto something there...but i hope ur not because i have a soft spot for asian girls lol

  • C'est pas Dylan à 2:38 ?

  • yep, good eye. Bob was one of syds biggest ifluences. I took that picture from a video for The Bob Dylan Blues sung by Syd Barret. So I just tried to show how he even resembles him.

  • sad to never see your frend agin

  • is he with john lennon?

  • Wonderful tribute to Mr. Barrett... Shine on :)

  • Muy buen video zimon Syd fue Grande entre los grandes sigue brillando diamante loco donde te encuetres

  • grande syd... pink floyd!!!!!

  • grande syd... un genio era.. e lo rimarrà per sempre...

  • Rock on Syd Rock on

  • un gran musico, sin duda una leyenda del rock, fue quien le dio el sonido tan distintivo a pink floyd

  • Sorry I can only read english im afraid lol but thanks for your comment!!

  • He said: great musician, a rock legend without a doubt, he was the one who gave floyd their distinctive sound

  • is syd barrett stayed "straight" in his head, what could have been. LOVE 'EM ALL.

  • Barrett got 1000000 4 the Echoes album released in "01?

  • nice!!!! i like this song!!!

pero como se llama esta cancion??? no se cual es

  • english?

  • "wish you were here" es el nombre de la cancion.

  • that was so great hun... it is nice to see especially when there a lot of people who do not even mention Syd. Great pics and the tribute was great!!! 5 stars from me..

  • ah thank you for enjoying it! :)

  • Syd, dear man, the music is there, the door you have left unlocked... stay time there, its good

  • I REALLY LOVE YOU , AND I MEAN YOU..

He is my only love ^^

  • syd was an amazing person

  • Syd IS an amazing person...

He is alive , in our hearts.

    I love you, crazy diamond.

  • shine on you crazy diamond

  • 1.38 is Dylan too. Anyway... RIP Syd we'll always love you

  • Some folks brains are too finely tuned and sensitive for this world. Just to cope they must shut down in some area.I think Syd had Hyperacusis of the brain, and had to shut down emotionally and psychically just to get by. Even though it caused him the abondonment of his peers.

  • That loud tv was there for a reason. Them voices belong to dead losers who do not deserve to be heard!

  • Ey?

  • He used to have the TV really loud when he left the floyd and it wasn't because he had hearing problems.

He was super sensitive to other planes, the ones dogs and cats percieve and it is full of dead people. Listen to the song 'rats' by Syd, it is obscure but explains alot!

  • Thanks, I will... I live with hyperacusis every day!

  • You aint the only one mate and that band aint called radiohead for nothing. Now theres a thing, Thom yorke happens to be good friends with Stipe, oh, and he happens to be good friends with, guess who.....John Malcovich, check the film and you will see the link.

Syd barrett jugband blues 'And i'm wondering who could be writing this song' There is shit going on in other frequencies that the Buddists have been talking about for years.

  • yeah theres a lot of myths like that

  • Cool transitions. R.I.P. Roger~

  • In my opinion, Syd Barrett is a very intelligent and well read man. His lyrical influences were the literary greats. Comparing his work to other artists is like comparing apples and oranges (get it?--or should I say--have you got it yet?) Sorry, don't mean to be an a-hole. But there really is no comparison. Love you Syd

  • at 1:39 and 2:38 you have pictures

    of bob dylan.

  • yes people i know there are pictures of Bob Dylan in this video andthey are there for a special purpose. ive explained it to probabbly 20 people now in seperate comments and im getting a little tired of explaining it so ill let you guys go back and read the previous comments explaining it

  • HAHA SO OWNED

  • 2:38

Isn't that a picture of Dylan?

  • yea that is i was like what the fuck

  • Very well done

  • Great work. Thanks for taking the time to make it. R.I.P. Syd

  • great tribute

it's sad what happen to syd

  • HE IS A LEGEND...THE ROCK LEGEND!

  • I like it. It's very sweet...

Wish the pictures were more sharp, not that picsled up.

  • yea they were all taken off the net so the quality isntt hat great, plus i had to compress this version of it to fit it on youtube

  • 2:42 he looked alot like bob dylan

  • yes as i said in many comments their are a couple of bob dylan pictures and clips just because syd was a big fan of dylan and i got those pics and clips from a video for the song bob dylan blues a song that syd does. it is an amazing song i urge you to listen to it

  • Just searched it, pretty cool!

  • Thanks!

  • RIP syd

    you're a LEGEND

  • Nice pun ryanspeed! Indeed you are correct in facts. Syd was Happy go lucky kind of guy! he even once said all he wanted to do was "jump up and down and play guitar" He some how managed to keep and carry across in his work, the innocence and enthusiasm of a teenager! Shame the rest of the boring ugly tw*ts in the band shoved him away!

  • You my friend are correct also!

I think that Roger Waters could have done a hell of a lot more to save Syd from his downward spiral. I also can't help but wonder if he (Waters) saw an opportunity to take control of the band and did just that by doing little or nothing to help Syd, IMO. Waters was a very talented musician, but I think (and I'm sure he did as well) that Syd's talents ran much deeper!

  • with all do respect roger waters was one of syds closest friends. theres no way he was scheming to do this. syd was always into drugs but it was just never a problem. until that one day that he just took too much. after that day they all say he just wasnt the same person nemore. and they even let him continue.

  • syd kept touring with them but he was just too messed up. even when they brough in david gilmour to take over the guitar and vocals they still let syd come on stage and play along. he would only sing a couple verses a song (when he felt like it) and stop abruptly every now and again. and even walked off of stage a couple of times during the song.

  • they gave syd many chances but im afraid it was just too late for poor rodger barrett. and as sad as i am to say it if they let him continue this pink floyd would probably not have lasted as long as they did

  • dude the end was so awesome when he was walking away and you hear the wind blowing, nice work man

  • thanks man i take a lot of pride in this video, syd is my idol

  • The wind blowing is in the origional song, not added in.

  • haha u are correct. but i dont believe anyone said that it was added in

  • Yeah, he did

  • Please don't think I'm slamming Roger Waters, it was just a hypothetical observation I made.

I do agree with you regarding Syd's drug usage. Once the "monkey" was on his back he just couldn't shake it off. So sad...I can only imagine what it would have been like if things had gone differently. I guess we'll never know!

  • yea i know what your saying, it would be a different world today if syd stayed with them.

  • i wish i could have known him

  • DAMN! I ♥ Syd Barret so much!!!

  • Weird song choice...

  • GRAN MUSICO

  • syd Argentina te ama

  • why have you inserted pics of bob dylan too? there are at least two images of the old bob, I can' see the link...

  • hahah this is a question i have to answer every month or so. If you would have read previous comments u would have found the answer a few times. but anyways, bob was one of syds idols and syd does a song the bob dylan blues and those photos and clips of bob are from a video for "the bob dylan blues" its just showing that bob had a big influence on syd and i just did a couple comparisons with their looks or their early love of playing guitar

  • he was also a big fan of John Lennon

  • very true

  • i think syd barrett is alittle more kick ass then kurt...even though both made a gigantic impact on music.

  • Syd Barrett = Kurt Cobain, Kurt Cobain = Syd Barrett

  • haha ahh i dunno bout that one but theyre both amazing.

  • Uhhh...no! Sorry, but I strongly disagree!

Syd Barrett was no Kurt Cobain, and Kurt Cobain was no Syd Barrett! He (Cobain) might have been a good, but from a more artistic perspective, Syd Barrett was light years ahead of him! Trying to equal these two is comparing apples with oranges.

  • Great pictures and nicely put together tribute. Syd was certainly gorgeous, in addition to being gifted. You have to wish it hadn't happened that way. Syd must have felt hurt when his 'friends' kicked him out of the band, especially if he was breaking down. He probably needed his friends. And when he had recovered, why didn't they ask him back or even ask him out for beers? Such a sad story.

  • ahh it is very sad, but i dont know if syd every really did fully recover. and anything that reminded syd of his time with floyd just angered syd. so they all knew it was best for his health and mind to not be bothered with his forgotten past. so you see even tho roger barret died not long ago(r.i.p) "syd" has sadly left us long ago

  • Thank you for a moving tribute. And thank you even more for respecting Roger Barret's wish to be left alone after his Floyd departure. I find it amazing how many supposed-fan tributes disrespect him by including paparazzi photos of Roger-post-Floyd in their supossed tributes. Thanks again, in the parlance of the band, "Didn't you do well?" Cheers Mate!

  • Yea People can be really disrespectful if they think it can get them somewhere in life, me, I just wanted to share all these great photos and clips of our beloved friend "syd" and try to show some ppl a little more about his life that they might have not known. thanks for your comment
