  • What tune did you use on the guitar?

  • NO Lead Belly NO Beatles- I didnt make that up George Harrison did! Go to the indiegogo site & look up leadbellyfilm

  • great job man! Sound quality isnt the greatest, neither is the picture but yur finger picking is great. Wish i could get my guitar to do that! haha!

  • A great rendition... If the sound quality was equal to being in the room at the time, I bet you would have more like 1,000,000 views and no dislikes...

  • this guys not that bad

  • My man! The best cover i've seen here!. Sweet! Too bad the quality is poor.

  • Is this the song CCR plays back in a day? I really like this song to the bone. First heard this when i was a little. Reminds me of 'good ol' days'

  • no,

    its leadbelly's version

  • Yea, I meant it that way. CCR got this tune off from Huddie Ledbetter.

  • Wonderful! Thanks!

  • I was playing along to the original recording and I'm pretty sure it's in key of A. Maybe he recorded it twice, i don't know, doesn't matter anyways.

    Good stuff once again though.

  • I dont think either one of them guys wrote that song, I think it was an old jail house work song to give prisoners hope and a feeling of chance of redemption. But I am not sure:), but both guys sang the song on the same dates not one sang the song before the other.

  • neat-O

    yeah, you're good.

  • good job!

  • That was great. 12 string for life!

  • see now im confused. cuz im pretty sure leadbelly came up with these words in prison...but who knows. great song

  • i did too, but it;s not, trust me,

  • wow ! I love the way you play it.

  • I think I got it, thanks.

  • nice job....to whomever said this isn't a leadbelly song....you're dead wrong...a classic by the master like the man said. was written in sugarland prison by mr. ledbetter.

  • No, sorry, Sam Collins recorded this song in the late 1920s, long before Leadbelly did. It was a popular song dating back to the turn of the 20th century, it was already "old" when Sam Collins did it. Leadbelly may have claimed to have "written" a lot of material but in reality he "borrowed" more than he originated.

  • true...leadbelly was a walking american songbook. even irene was traced back to the 19th century

  • no, you're wrong, sophistikitilin knows better than you, trust me on that

  • tienes razon...i stand corrected!

  • Beautifully played!

  • this songs not by leadbelly, your version is good.

  • very good job Leabelly is the King!!

  • man this is a great rendition! well done!

  • This songs not by leadbelly

  • wow that is so ignorant!- of course it's by leadbelly, he wrote it for the governor of texas in order to get his pardon from prison. There are hundreds of versions, but he was the originator, the rest covered his song.

  • Sam Collins recorded this song years before leadbelly, its a traditional song.

  • No, it's not "ignorant" - Sam Collins recorded this LONG before Leadbelly did.

  • you're right.....:-) just checked my trusty leadbelly book....i forgot about that sophistikittenlin! sorry....

  • he wrote governor neff for the pardon

  • Nice version, I've always liked this song. What key/tuning is it played in?

  • yery easy! key of D.. he does a boogie woogie riff on starting on the G bass note.

  • do you have tab for this? how'd you learn this?

  • very good :)

  • thats great mate. liked it

  • that was cool, dude! great pickin'.

  • i am a legend! haha
