Sellout is an invented term. The Clash Sold out. The Sex Pistols sold out- 4 times in the 2 years that they were a band. Gang of Four sold out, The Specials and The Beat and all the second wave punk bands "sold out". Nobody questions how punk the Clash were, but a band like Green Day, which never made a unilateral statement against a record deal (same as Tim Armstrong and Rancid) gets bad rep for searching for bigger distribution. That is fucking stupid.
