  • If it can run on vegetable oil I'll take one. If it's anything as reliable as a truck diesel it should run for a long time before tbo time is reached and no spark plugs to clean would be big too

  • Rootes TS3 3 cyl opposed piston, diesel, engine with one crankshaft. It used rotating rockers at each end of the cylinder transfer power from pistons to centrally located crank. Developed 105HP increased to 140HP. Made from 1954-72 in Commer. Very high power/weight ratio, very economical and reliable. Make this in aluminum and you have a ready-made proven design.

    Discontinued as Chrysler bought Rootes & didn't want this amazing engine to compete with their existing ranges. A TS4 was ready.

  • Real cool engine. Its a great concept. as long as the crankshafts are linked to each other then they should both stay at the same stroke as the opposing piston. I need to hurry up an finish school because i thought of that 7 years ago.
