Just wanted to let you know that I re-uploaded the video with the audio in now that I've learned how to better deal with copyright. :) I also used the chance to update it to HD. I put it as a video reply to this one if you want to take a look.
I know, I was pretty surprised Paolini did that . . . personally I disliked BRISINGR (the series completely went downhill) and it kind of dates the book now, if you know what I mean. As much as he may like Dr. Who, it's not that mature to put a reference of a fav. movie/series in a medieval/fants. book. For instance, I love '24' and Jack Bauer is great example of a tragic hero who fights for the right thing but loses everything, but I'm not about to put a Jack Bauer reference in my novel. :p
Wow, I love that quote where he talks about living long enough to have everything taken away from you; ashes... that was powerful with what you showed! I've never seen Dr. Who and this was a real eye-opener of what the series is like! Great job incorporating the audio, that kind of stuff is tricky to pull off!
Thanks! And you must! That scene was beautifully sad. The Doctor, talking to a guy who invented a machine to make himself young again so he could live forever, showing him that being very long-lived isn't exactly a good thing.
I love this. Like another commentator (would that be the right word?) said, this captures what makes this show so appealing to people who would have otherwise outgrown the whole aliens/running/fantasy aspect. What a tragic hero, with his fatal flaw ...
Thank you for the compliment! I guess it helps that it's exactly what *I* find so appealing about the character of the Doctor. If it was *just* aliens, sci-fi, and daily saving the universe, it would just be like...I dunno... Star Trek or something, which I don't find nearly appealing.
I'm just hoping that whoever plays the Doctor next can manage to pull off the tragic hero aspect of the character as much as David has, and Chris before him.
Stunningly beautiful. (*raises hands in defeat* ... well what am i gonna do now ... LOL) You picked the best quotes from all series, and your choice of music was impeccable. Not sure how i managed to miss this one... but *BRAVO* !! xx
Wow. Absolutely stunning! I was glued to this from start to finish! Excellent editing. You really draw the viewer in and really intensify the emotion with a balanced use of dialog and special effects. Very moving! Loved it!
Thank you so, so very much. This was truly a labor of love, really. The whole story of the Doctor's loss has really touched me. The writers do such an amazing job, as does David's portrayal. I must admit I was moved to tears while making this. Poor Doctor. :(
the reference in BRISINGR was amazingly done. it shows just how afraid Arya is of falling in love with Eragon. and why she tries to be so cold. Christopher Paolini is a Genius!
Arya wrote something in the ground on page 204. "Adrift upon the sea of time, the lonely god wanders from shore to distant shore, upholding the laws of the stars above."
this is the best doctor who vid i've seen yet. so sad and the clips seem to sum up the very soul of the doctor, the bitterness and neediness at the same time. beautiful song choice too, that was Aragorns song. if you think about it they have a lot in common, so much on their shoulders.
Damn. I mean, you highlighted why I love Doctor Who. You bypassed, the childish, silliness and hit at the core of what makes it great. That at the heart, the Doctor is incredibly sad, lonely and dark. You live long enough, everyone you love ends up ripped away...
I just wanted to hold him and tell him he wil never be alone , not as long as he has friends who love him and people to save. That those who he loves and who love him will never really leave him never!!
Awesome and beautifully done. I saw one of your previous videos and loved it. I found this vid on the D-T forum and had to subscribe to you. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I have seen a LOT of Doctor Who videos and that one has got to be the most breath taking, you've shown us the Doctor's beautiful pain and loss. Thank you.
0:09 is the young master, not the doctor, and the boy who played the young master is in my school

@MermaidJess22 Yeah, I know who it is. I just used it for lack of there being footage of the Doctor as a little boy.

Thanks so much! It drives me nuts that it got a copyright claim on it, as it's my favorite video, but...nothing I can do about it really.

I admit to not reading Eragon, so I find myself a bit confused by the references to it, but I'll assume it is a compliment. :)
dbvixxen 3 years ago
dont worry about it. its unrelated to Doctor Who i just had a Light Bulb and had put it down. but if you every do read them you'll see what i mean.

Ohhh okay, gotcha. It was the second mention of it that I got in the comments, so I was getting awfully curious. ;)

Thank you. :) Well, I do like the silliness, but I am quite the sucker for tragedy and the Doctor is, at heart, a tragic figure.

You picked not only a great piece of music, but also the very best, and most revealing, illuminating, wonderful scenes to make your point.
