  • just dl it for free lol u people really need to use mirc program been using it for ten years now i get every movie i want lol

  • They should do kafka's metamorphosis!

  • This is overwhelmingly good. I finally got my copy of this masterpiece and I think I've experienced an out-of-body experience while watching it. Literally. I may or may not be typing this while my brain rests in a cylinder in another room.

  • Do the Colour out of Space next! Pleeaase.

  • Re-read TWiD before seeing the movie. Awesome work! Cinematography and acting was superb. I love how the story was fleshed out. Looking forward to the next movie!

P.S. Did Yuggoth get demoted from the list of planets by Earth's scientists or were they influenced to do so by the thought currents of the Outer Ones? ;D

  • Gustav Mahler and Philip K. Dick IN "The Whisperer in Darkness"

  • the mi-go are coming

  • it's out already, right?

  • @theiamaniac Indeed, we're shipping it worldwide.

  • @theiamaniac Wifey got it for me for xmas :D

  • @theiamaniac also seen it first at Montreal's Fantasia Film Festival

  • Massive sanity loss at 3:10

  • OMG MUST SEE NAO.

  • Saw this last weekend at Nightvision 2011 Helsinki and I must say I really enjoyed it. Well done, excellent film.

  • @captzdc How is it an oxymoron? There's nothing about the two that are contradictory. They don't make sweeping generalizations - they completely accept that it's a possibility, but there has not been any convincing evidence for its existence. Simple as that. There's no "science elite" hiding TEH REEL TR00F from us.

  • Call of Cthulhu was a fantastic film. It looked like a high end production film and you couldn't tell it was a fan film whatsoever. I'll be sure to buy a copy of this when it comes out!

  • @captzdc Behind all of that fancy thesaurus pandering, you're essentially saying scientific skeptics are crackpots? I'm sure even you can see the folly in such a statement... your ridiculous sweeping generalizations really diminishes your argument.

  • 1 person peed in his pants.

  • Can't wait to watch this!

Been playing Call of Cthulhu rpg for 20 years on/off

  • you cannot escape us

  • When the bloody hell does this movie coming, some us horrors junkies are fiening for our lovecraft flick fix.

  • Oh I am definitely buying this DVD when it comes out! I loved your version of Call of Cthulhu and this one looks like it will be one step better!

  • @captzdc Or someone wishing to make a snarky remark online. Its that lack of understanding the simple explanations to life that must lead you to other conclusions.

  • @captzdc How does it feel to be insane? I mean in regards to your day to day life.

  • I think you blew a bit too much on this trailer. Should have kept more under your hat.

  • You really didn't have to show the creatures in the trailer. It would be so much more suspenseful to finally see them in the actual movie :/

Anyway, I will buy and watch it for sure.

  • That was a great opening to the trailer

  • This is Awesome i want this on dvd, seriously someone tell me how to get a copy?

  • The Mi-go looks good.

    Can't wait to have this.

  • I don't know if it's the sound or the cameras.. but this has too much of a made-for-tv feel to it... ruins it for me.

  • @ehhhhhhhhhh I blame MTV for comments like this

  • @Mimekiller I don't watch MTV. Did you mean this as an insult?

  • Anyone know a release date?

  • :O

    I...just...WANT IT!!!

  • Hmm, you're adding alot of scenes that were not in the original. Hope it turns out good.

  • This is on my must-buy list. I haven't even read any of Lovecraft's stories yet (I'll be sure to find a collection next time I go out), but this looks amazing.

  • Where can I buy this .. I wants it... I needs it... my precioussss..

  • @Mournbalde I second, third and fourth that sentiment...

  • @Mournbalde In the official website of the Howard Phillips Lovecraft Historycal Society

  • Where and when I can buy it?

  • I fucking love this short story. Hope they don't fuck up with the movie, but I hardly believe they will. :D

  • We do need more Lovecraft movies.

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • Can't wait to watch this film at the 6th Festival of Sci-Fi and Fantasy in Athens/Greece, next week :D !!! Thank you HPLHS !!!

  • Beautifully menacing.

  • People need to realize the budget this group of talented people are probably working with and then criticize them. This looks like ten steps forward compared to the production of Call of Cthulhu. Absolutely can't wait, and man I love Matt Foyer!

  • The preview should not be more than 1 min... a lot of the scenes add nothing. Some on the other hand, lessen the whole. The music sounds out of genre and the fonts use for the titles don't work (i'd go with an animated typewriter kinda font) The camera work and photography look top notch. All those minor details can be fixed. you should keep the brain in jar scene (genius), the river scene, the dance steps, cavern entrance, the conference in v1 and the "we already lost" scene.

  • Please do Shadow Over Innsmouth next. You guys did such an amazing job with the radio drama, it would be even better as a film!

  • Cameron and Del Toro are going to fuck up At the Mountains of Madness.

  • @donnely138

why do you think that? Pan's Labyrinth (by Toro) was very impressive... if it was only Cameron, he would most likely destroy it, but he's only producer

  • @animarcusutube Producers have an incredible amount of influence over the direction of the film. If there's either a romantic interest or a message about the 'noble savages' I will projectile vomit right there in the theater.

  • @donnely138 Don't say that, you're jinxing it!!!! =)

  • very cool

  • This looks good, but the CGI Mi-go looks a tad....corny.

But then, I guess a horror movie done in a 1940's style would have to be.

  • You guys need to do Dagon or a Statement by Randolph Carter. Both are short and simple. But great and strange.

  • Score sounds like the East West Symphonic Library samples.

    Cool stuff.

  • so so been looking forward to this, been following since the start, you guys always do lovecraft right, radio stuff, movie etc,we will not have long ppl,we are going on a incredible journey again :)

  • OMG I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

  • really nice production value!! great props! verry polished..nice work.

  • This is absolutely awesome. I have been waiting ages for this and now - it's finally here! YEAH!

  • Mi-go, you go, we all go for Mi-go!

  • @Rhunyen Haha! Indeed! :-D

  • This is simply AwesomeSauce!!! :-D I can't wait to see this film. :-)

  • I'm sorry, I'm a Lovecraft nut (literally...) and this just looks bad. Amateurish. Missing the point. I guess I'm one of those "snobs" that doesn't think any Lovecraft material can possibly be done justice by a movie - I thought the same thing about the Lord of the Rings and I feel I was correct there... I appreciate what the HPLHS is trying to do, but I'll stick to my books. Every attempt to get across the sheer scope of Mr Lovecraft's mythos so far has been embarrassingly simplistic, IMO.

  • @dukeon

I disagree entirely. HPLHS Call of Cthulhu was top notch, and I expect this to be just as good if not better. Also, that is the best Mi-Go I've ever seen. Also you cannot "literally" be a Lovecraft nut, a Lovecraft is not a thing, and if it were you would not be one.

  • @MrSpanielson - Perhaps he's is a ghoulish reanimation of Lovecraft's left testicle?

  • @dukeon -- you are correct, you are a snob ... and an unreasonable one at that. ;^p

Most people commenting here are "Lovecraft nuts", as are the folks making the movie. Methinks yer expecting too much. Lovecraftian stories can make good movies, and have. Sure, they aren't "as good as the story", but no movie, EVER, has been as long as the story / book came first. This is just a truism of movies. Your attitude is depriving you of perfectly good entertainment, IMHO.

  • I can not wait for this, my most anticipated film of 2011!

  • Amazing!

  • Glorious! If I could make a suggestion, when you fellows begin selling Prop Replicas of things from this film, IF you sell Brain Cases, and they have a label, it would be a good idea to let the person buying it customize what that label says. They could get their own name, or do something else like have it say "Randolph Carter" or "Robert Olmstead". Likewise, I should like to mention that I think a good idea for the next film would be(of course) "The Colour Out Of Space".

  • Now THAT is impressive beyond words!

  • how did you guys made the Mi-Go/Fungi?, is a puppet? stop motion, CGI? will you guys sell it? and what kind of image did you used as a base for it?

  • Any word on a release date yet?

  • suh WEEEETTT!!!! can't wait, lookin VERY forward to this. when when when??? (i know i know, check the blog) ;P

  • the "new era" of horror movies of hollywood (Jason, Friday 13°, REC, ...) is nothing with a history of H.P. Lovecraft, i enjoy the trailer. i seen the call of cthulhu, and are just a living nightmare with the B/W Movie. I hope make more a better movies (more trama, and less "Blockbuster")

  • The trailer looks amazing. Look forward to the full movie once it is released.

  • hurry up, your fans want to see this movie. we have been waiting for a long time.

  • Guys this is looking absolutely superb. QUESTION: Will you guys use a film-motion filter to remove the video/interlaced motion or will you leave it as is? The video-like motion is the only thing that sorta "gives it away" as a modern production. I hope you guys will give it a complete film-look :D

  • Iä Shub-niggurath iä yog-sothoth iä azathoth iä iä iä

  • I guess all Lovecraff fans will be even more exited about this movie after seeing the new trailer. You people are first to actually capture the feel and atmosphere of Lovecraft on film. All the extensions of the original story here are sensitive and inventive. I've read somewhere that "At the Mountains of Madness" will be filmed. Even a hight budget production will have a tough time to do it better that you. Great work!

  • @miwoleit I some faith in it; del Toro said he had trouble getting the money because "there's no love story and the ending isn't very happy," but Cameron fronted him the cash recently, which is why it's moving ahead. They'll hype it, I'm sure, but Mountains is being made by people who care about Lovecraft stories enough to not adapt it for Hollywood producers, so much so that they couldn't get funding.

  • @jumpmonkey03 I hope you are right. It could be exciting to see a faithful Lovecraft adaption on the big screeen. And Mountains surely offers a lot of opportunities for stunning visualization. Well, let's see.

  • I like the way hollywood is never able to capture the atmosphere of a H P Lovecraft story but you guys are right on the money! Can't wait.

  • The only question remaining now is...when will this be released?

I know some art houses in Minneapolis that would kill to show this at their venue.

  • I'll be sure to buy a copy. I love my copy of Call of Cthulhu.

  • OH MY GREAT YUGGOTH ! ! !

  • @MrWilum -- what a fun gi :P

  • This has been a long time coming. Too long! I'm glad it's finally in post production and soon to be released. I loved your "the Call of Cthulhu", and eagerly look forward to owning this new classic-in-the-making as well.

  • This is extremely cool! I can't wait to see it!

I'd actually recommend you CUT the creatures from the trailer, or make them more obscured, or much briefer cuts. Take a page from Jaws: part of why people go to see movies is for the mystery of what the unseen thing looks like.

  • EPIC WIN

  • I have two simple requests for this movie.

    1. This level of crispness doesn't fit with black and white, so please add a little film grain to add to the era effect.

    2. Sepiatone. I love sepiatone and really think it will fit the intended tone of the film better than flat grays.

  • WANT!

  • loved the CoC film, anxiously awaiting this one.

  • @simpson654: Didn't look like CGI to me! I doubt we'll see a whole lot of the fiends, but what I did see immediately brought to mind such amazing wonders as the original Outer Limits and the legendary movie "Fiend Without A Face."

  • You guys rule! Can't wait for this movie.

  • I AM IN LOVE!

  • You guys NEED to do The Color Out of Space as it is PERFECT for black and white and it would get rid of the need to have a totally unknown color. You could just have the characters saying "I've never seen a color like that!" blahblahblah woof woof.

  • @CTM1978 There are some german film students who are doing this right now. Watch more under: die-farbe(dot)com

  • @CTM1978 Yeah, I actually just finished reading that one, it would be awesome for a black and white movie like this. Whisperer in the Darkness is next in the book I picked up, woohoo!

  • @CTM1978 Die Farbe!

  • @CTM1978 I'd say the whole thing would work as black and white... except have the Colour itself in color. That's a very jarring effect if you've seen movies like 'The Tingler' you know what I mean.

Anyway, really looking forward to this one after the awesome job on Call of Cthulhu.

  • Looks exciting! It sure looks more faithful than that awful Brian Yuzna adaptation in NECRONOMICON. The little girl looks kinda like Jodelle Ferland. (I know it's not, though.)

  • Gracias por los subtitulos en español :)

  • This looks great!

    Keep up the good work.

  • Tremendous -- can't wait for the release!

  • Their last production, The Call of Cthulhu, was a magnificient silent horror film, well paced and true to the original story; this venture into the world of talkies seems well worth the long wait, but I'm dubious about showing too much of the creatures in CGI, I hope they don't, in that road madness lies. The most potent fear is the fear of the unknown; what you don't see. Suggest, don't tell.

  • Awesome!

  • Hoo boy! Looks great! I can't wait!

  • This trailer just made what was a little curiosity inside me into a huge hype over this movie! I can really feel the suspense and despair that will be shown in the scenes where he's wandering the woods desperate for help. Seems like a true masterpiece, and a very faithful adaption of the great tale.

  • Holy Smokes! What a kick-ass trailer!

  • Brilliant, Gentlemen! I was excited before, but now I'm beside myself. Literally. I have the Mi-Go brain cylinder here...

  • Awesome Dave, Sean and Andrew!

  • I've got mixed feelings. On the one hand, I don't know about showing the monsters. On the other, they sure look cool.

Either way, can hardly wait to watch it!

    Loved Call of Cthulhu!

  • GOOD JOB! and the monsters are all great! but the film as a whole reminds me of stuart gordon's Dagon, dun worry the similiarity isn't big but the mood and feeling is a bit similiar!

  • Elder signs on hangar doors and Mi-Go with brain pots attached...shuddersome,and again added to Stumble. Thanks for re-listing Sean!

  • Got my feet all tingly :D were those animated or stop motion?

  • It looks fantastic! I can't wait :-)

  • Awesome. Can't wait.

  • akeley in the chair should be almost completely covered, he's a meat puppet.

  • @alpharaptor1 Yeah but he's a realistic meat puppet with a real human face.

  • Fantastic !!

  • Oh MAN! This looks so good. You really nailed the feel of the novels with the old style cinematography and acting. I'm looking forward to this.

  • It looks phenominal

  • An so looking forward to this!

  • Love it!
