This is an awesome video. On the Loram Railgrinder you just hope your not in a spot when the guy might be watering and accidently soak you or if he was in a bad mood he might anyways lol. Great video! what camera was used in these videos?
I like how at 0:52 you can hear the horn in the background of the scanner but you don't hear it it until 2 seconds later! Awesome catches Ryan! I sure need to see a LORAM in action soon!
Yes I have encountered this a few times myself, it is because radiowaves travel faster than the speed of sound. If you go to a long stretch of straight track that has crossings several thousand feet away, if you look down the tracks you will notice the ditchlights activate (on NS or CSX) when the approaching train blows its horn, but you won't hear the horn until several seconds later!
Nice catches, especially the LORAM Railgrinder! I just wish one of those things would come to the Bay Area here in CA! It would be quite a treat to see one of those here! Also, what was up with that black spot left after the Railgrinder past? Did it start a small fire or something?

Sick how he talks into the radio and the horn is heard, then a second later you actually hear the horn outside the radio and then...silence....
