Ben is great but Bob Malach is absolutely awesome. Unfortunately he is hugely underrated even though he is up there with Michael Brecker as far as tone, phrasing, technique, soulfulness and innovation.
Thanks Ben! Did anyone ever do a DVD of the "On the Live Side" concert from the Ordway (spp?)? I have the CD and would love to see those-"Boy", "Lover Man", "Doctor's Blues", the lot. Thanks again!
@pjbear05 I've been chasing that show for years. I saw it on TV here in England and only watched it because Phil Woods was playing. I'd never heard of Sidran at the time. Boy, was I missing out!
@Moggggpiano OK, other sources here mentioned OTLS on a videodisc, and the MC on the audio CD mentions the concert is being "broadcast live". Sources of either unknown.
Bob Malach is my all time favorite sax player, i have his album Mood Swings with robben ford russell ferrante and will lee wow what a killer cd haha if anyone wants just write me ill send it, because everone needs to hear Malach, hes amazing
Bass player is the one and only Billy Peterson, one of the best Jazz/Rock basists, and a heck of a nice guy. He's also been playing with the Steve Miller Band since the mid-80's. Cool cat indeed.
Bob Malach - he's awesome, but he's the greatest enigma in Jazz.. Who is he, who does he play with? I saw an awesome vid of him playing with Robben Ford (again, on Ohne Filter).. But since then, nothing!
is that a Roland D-50 he's using on top of his piano?
