Thanks for this lesson...One of my favorite Stones songs...I taught myself to play a halfway decent cover of the version from the "acoustic motherf******"outtakes album ...You ever play that version? I play it in E..but there's a change-up..maybe to A...that I've haven't yet gotten..(one of the many :)) Would love to see you cover it. Salud.
Hmm, your copy of Beggar's Banquet seems to be slower than mine...I remember reading something about how the CD was incorrectly sped up. But after 10 years of listening to it at the wrong speed, it's already ingrained in my brain! The "real" speed sounds wrong to me now.
Hi bud, good one. Thanks for this I was wondering how to play it. I think it's played in drop G or D, I don't want to go there let so this video is great cheers!!
why so mad hermann...this dude is just a good guitar player...anyone can play guitar if you want to get good just play 5-12 hours a day for 1 or 2 years and you will become a good guitar player idk about a better guitar player but thats really not what its about...besides coming up with songs is what matters most richards said it best, "Mick Taylor is a great guitarist, but he found out the hard way that that's all he is" i gotta say badass guitars you've got prive
In the second part of the tune, when it moves up to A.....might there be an E chord somewhere in there? Perhaps something like G to D to A to E7(instead of D) then back to A.
Just trying to follow the pattern established in the first half of the song in the key of E (and most blues songs) right before the turn-around when it goes from the 1(E) to the 5(B7) back to the 1(E). So in the key of A the 5 would be an E chord.
Great job. Thanks for putting up some fun songs to jam along to and learn. I like your guitars and obviously it's something you've invested time and money into, so you should be proud. I don't claim to know what this music is really all about, like some people. But I do know the blues is about pain and suffering; the human feelings experienced by all of us in life. Doesn't matter how much money you have, you still experience moments of regret, anxiety, fear, sorrow, and helplessness:The Blues
Hi there Bud thanks for all the songs you put so much effort into so we can check them out and listen to some who can play ,I love your playing and I have suddenly just stopped looked at myself and thought Man I need a gear change, carry on you are awesome ,I don't listen to negative people, cool man rock on.
I think you did a great job on this. Good song choice also i Love the stones This The Spider and the fly and sweet Virginia were an incredible time for the stones thanks for the cool video !
Geez! Why can't people just be nice. Hermann, didn't your mama teach you any manners at all? Those kind of comments are totally uncalled for! What kind of house you own has nothing to do with how much a person loves to play music. I have a nice house, pay the mortgage on time, as do all the people I play and perform with, and I play a pretty mean guitar - just exactly what kind of house do you think Mr. Jagger owns? Shame on you for being so rude!

Did you get yourself this dog cause he fits to the carpet? You can´t teach the people howto play the blues with your shiny expensive guitar, the better middle class interior and being an example of a good sober american who pays the mortgage in time... you missed something. Has nothing to do which fret you put your fourth finger...
@HermannRubartV Thanks, but I don't need a life coach. I've got things pretty well under control. I never dreamed of being Keith Richards. I dreamed of paying the mortgage on time.
@HermannRubartV Dude, do you mind if the rest of us just sit on the couch every once in a while and play a Stones song? I truly wish you happiness in your quest for the lost chord. But please, just go away. Thanks.
@HermannRubartV LOL!! I play blues and country, own my own business and the building it sits in, have about 40 guitars, play out regularly with my kid, have numerous hobbies, like this guy. Just cuz a guy works hard at lots of things, doesn't mean he can't or shouldn't play guitar, well. Has to be one of the more lame statements I've ever read. Just reeks of jealousy.
... the main lick during the E chord part is the 3rd string open G, then fretting the G sharp. then playing the d string fretted at 2nd fret using usual E shape.
He then moves up to 5th fret for A section and does similar thing there, not at the 2nd fret. .
Thank you for answering , it's between 1.42 to 1.48
I must be doing something wrong...
Once again I have all this in books but for the first time I saw that A 7 and kind of A extending to the 5th string That is like he plays it for sure.A s I said great job !
@vinayamoz Gotcha. You should actually just play the E and G strings, and you mute the B string in between them. When he does the ascending run at the tail end of the song, you actually play all 3 strings like a D chord, ending with the last one having the B string covered 2 frets higher instead of just 1 fret higher. I hope that makes sense.
For the bridge I cannot play it that "Mandolin"Style like you do .
Wish one day you'd explain the way you do it.It's seems it's D chord shape , but I dond't get it...like you make it sound
So I play it as an alternative
4th fret like an D chord / 5 th fret barred / / 5 th fret like a d7 chord / then this chord 7 on the E and G string and 5 th on B string. Sounds good to me what do you think ?
Thank you for your time and patience you are doing a great job.
I'd have to sit down with the album, but the Stones tended to wander a little bit around 440, with songs in the same key that aren't in tune with each other on the same album.
On Beggars Banquet they were pretty consistent from song to song, and most were tuned to the same E.
Wow! Thanks for uploading another under-appreciated Stones gem. I remember buying this album the day it came out. I was 16. My dad was putting up the Christmas tree and I had Beggars Banquet blaring on the family "hi-fi" in the next room. He busily ignored the first three tracks. But when this song ended and Mick snarled out, "Parachute WO-man...Land on me tonight," dad flipped out....SKEEERRRAATCH! Off went the Stones. On came Perry Como....
Had She's So Cold on the turntable on Christmas Eve in 1980, and all was well until it got to "She's so God d*** cold..." and that's when my father intervened.

Stones songs always seem so simple but always have loads of variations.
That what makes them "not boring"I guess.
Appreciate your help.Hope one day I will help you...( Wish )

Streetfighting Man was actualy (the tape)speeded up a half tone, that's why you can't play with the record, unless you tune it up half a tone.
