@theawesomestryanHD It’s actually a very simple process to recalibrate your Home button; simply open a stock iOS app (Weather, Stocks, Clock, etc.). Once the app is open, press your iPhone’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open. You’re done! No rocket science required.

this worked perfectly! I wonder if it has anything to do with using a dock or iphone radio/player where the phone sits vertically, but slanted. as this motion above just repositions the inside bits in the opposite direction :)
If you haven't got the charger cable to hand almost anything thin will do the job, i happened to use a knife obviously being careful not to snap the actual charge receiver, it took me a couple attempts but it now works fine. obviously do this at your own risk as it will not be my fault if you damage your iphone anymore.
I sent it to apple and said it has no problem and I struggled for a year now with this home button, but your way @nitesh2019 works %95 with the phone which is enough for me not to buy another phone. Thanks
If all fails, try gently tapping the bottom of the phone against a soft matted surface. Tap tap tap and voila! This worked for me. If tapping on the bottom didn't work, tap it on the sides. Good luck y'all!
The fix proffered here on these comments by fellow YouTube member, nitesh2019 instantly resolved the intermittent responsiveness of the home button on my iPhone 4. It would have been a most useful improvement to the iPhone if the new 4S had included a touch screen, non-mechanical home button was photographically depicted on the previously rumored iPhone 5 of a few months back.
Anybody who's itouch/iPhone 4 home button is broken listen to this! Go to settings, accessibility, then turn gestures on. A circle should appear on your screen; click on it and go home
none of that worked for me or my friends but i found something that does work and has worked ever since. take your iphone cable and plug it into the bottom of your phone. no need to plug into the computer. now grip the part right where it is plugged into the phone and slightly bend it up towards the screen...just a little...bam guaranteed to work!!! use at your own risk cause i'm not responsible if you break anything.
@nitesh2019 Oh my goodness, I think that just worked on mine too! To nitesh2019 --> THANK YOU! I know that if they replace my phone the same thing may happen on another. My husband and I got our iphones (4) the same day, from the same store, and his has no issues. I'm wondering if it's because I charge mine a lot more often?
@45alexzander For a phone at THAT price, you should'nt need to do this? The damn thing should work flawlessly on any fucking phone. Apple did'nt even fix it with the iOS 5.0... its bullshit if you ask me :)
@45alexzander omg thanks!!!!!!! now i dont have to waste money fixing or buying another one thank u so much same shit happened to my other iphone 2 thats why i got the 4 now the same shit is happening with the 4 the freaking home button dont last long...
I updated to ios 5 and mine is still acting up, also an iPhone 4. But when I brought it to the apple store, I just happens to have like 20 apps open and coincidentally he closed them all and it told me that was the problem. :(
I had exactly the same problem after I download the last iphone4 software upgrade about 3 weeks ago . It is a SOFTWARE problem, not hardware . I just upgraded to iOS5 and the problem is no longer there.
Also had same problem for months. Calibration sort of worked but then didn't. I then read to drop the phone on carpet floor from waist high. Tried it and my button has been working flawless for 2 days now.
@MrMultiplayer617 ---------Thank you. I've looked everywhere. I was afraid I'd have to buy an iPhone 4S just to get a working fine. Tried a software approach, didn't stick. Totally didn't want to open my iPhone or send it off for repair. I slapped it against my armchair a couple times, this way and that: IT'S WORKING!! :)
In my case it was memory issue and ad some extra line of code in my app SYS Activity Manager to solve this problem. Now it is working fine. You may use this before making physical damage by over hitting.
Just calibrate the home button...hold the sleep button until the power off apear...then just hold the home button until the power off dissapear....now you should have a functional button.
@yazeriel Rubbish! The "Voice Control" pops up if you do that. I tried all of the YouTube "fixes" - My video works, well it did for me - it's now perfectly working in just 10 SECONDS. TRY IT!
Bro I have the exact problem, it goes away and then comes back after a while. Its really starting to piss me off. But I kind of got a solution, just turn the phone completely off, then hold the home and the top button at the same time, you'll see the apple logo go on and off like twice, then turn ur phone back on, it should help. But if u have the exact problem As me, you'll have to do that like 5 times a day.
I HAVE ANOTHER FIX go to cydia, look multitasking gesturess, add and have a god damned ipad on your hands u idiots, use 5 fingers to go to each app, multitask, or go to homescreen
easy 10 second fix: open any app. hold power button down til the "power off" slidebar shows. lightly press the home button til it shows ur apps again. done. ur home button now works
this is too complicated, the other video said to connect phone to cable, press down on home button until voice control comes on....then done prob fixed!
My 9 months old iPhone 4 started having this EXACT issue after I dunno...3-4 months. At first I read the huge 30,000 views thread on the Apple forums but that didn't help. I then read few days ago that if you blow air in the port it fixes the problem and it makes sense because putting it in your pocket causes it to collect dust and fiber which seem to cause the issue everyone has and had. I'll try this air blow fix and if it works I'll just get a case that covers the port and problem is solved!
@ptavares79 check out it's consistency before going wild :) after that post I read some place else that blowing air can be only a temporary fix. Use something to cover the dock port and check it's consistency for 2-3 weeks. Then if you hadn't had any more issues it's good.
