  • Also, in California, getting conservatorship over anyone is very difficult, and the California courts take it very, very seriously. My dad's conservatorship requires that my brother report every dime spent on my dad, and he is only allowed to spend it for my dad's care. My dad had given up all control of his finances to his abuser. She is now awaiting trial for 2 counts of felony elder abuse. Don't abuse your parents. Help them. They gave you life. This is the least you can do for them.

  • My father was the victim of financial elder abuse by a "caregiver". His situation was called a "Sweetheart Scam". As soon as my mother passed, she stepped in to fill a void, and took him for everything he had. We gained conservatorship to get control of his finances out of her hands. We were successful. We stand to gain nothing, since there is nothing but his pension left. We use 100% of that for his 24 hr care. We love our dad. He needed us. We were there for him, not for us.

  • to the comments abt elders abusing younger - find a site that addresses that particular problem bc elder abuse in general is far greater & more rampant than elders abusing younger - with that said, I lived in bad situation where elder landlord was abusive toward me, but personal experience & research leaves me to believe elder abuse is rampant & doesnt get the attn it needs & I don't think enough help is avail 4 this & SocWrkrs suck, didn't help me 4 an eldr loved one being abused.

  • old people should be treated as our equals

    not as our slaves

but not as our superiors or Gods either

  • what about ANY ONE ABUSE! DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO ANY ONE YOU LOVE!

also you should have added the logical FACT in this video that old people can be abusive as well.

that way you are not sounding agiest and are in favour of only one age group of people just because of there age.

there for i am personally flagging this video for age discrimination!!!!!!

  • we need help to my Grandmother is in a home to she dont like it she has 2 homes to live in and kids to takecare of her help us

  • @anndyammy7379 same situation here, need whatever info that might help the both of us.

  • I like your experienced with elders who are abused and are also the ones abusing the younger ones. Please kindly listen and watch my video on you tube senior citizen by edwin. I had headache after listening to your video.thanks anyway

  • you're acting like all old people don't abuse people first!

  • you just think all old people are angels when ever abuse happens,

you don't share to any of us logical facts that make any sense, you're just trying to tell us opinions that old people are the only ones in the world who ever get abused, and they are NEVER the abusers.

logical proof tells though, for fact that old people can be just as abusive as any one else, and that they are not like helpless children.

  • you just think all old people are angels when abuse happens

you only look at one side of the story.

what about old people who abuse normal aged people and young people?

that's what I want to talk about. We talked enough about old people being abused.

we all know abusing old people is wrong, but abusing any is just as wrong.

  • my grandmpas a punk, he smacks up any one who messes with him! one day my grandmpa tried to beat up this 30 year old woman for mouthing him off and my grandpa hit that woman in the face and the police came and took HIM to jail for hitting a woman, they tazered him to the ground and beat him with clubs until his phace was all full of lumps, then they took him to jail for woman abuse. now a bunch of other old people want to beat up my grandpa for hitting a woman, what should i do?

  • elderly people and teenage children are not always the victems of abuse either.

they can abuse people younger or older than themselves as well.

    just stop abuse.

  • This is happening to my mother in SANTA CLARA CA.SHE HAS BEEN HIGHJACKED,LOOTED BY KIM COLEMAN AND DIANA L LE PUBLIC GUARDIANS.PLACED IN A NURSING WITHOUT FAMILY CONTACT EXCEPT FOR 1 PHONE CALL A WEEK.OUTRAGEOUS!

  • to those who have had estates stolen by the EVILDOERS. Don't give up. File civil actions PRO SE against the perpetrator. File civil leins against their property.

Don't beLIEve the corrupt Legal system that you can do nothing. There is plenty you can do.

  • @smofc2010 what can i do to get my mom back?

  • so now a days people are not allowed to abuse old people but old people are allowed to abuse people?!

  • YES YOU ARE A WINNER!!!

What a wonderful brave lady, and how horrible that the state can now waltz in to anyones home and steal everything, including the people living there.

This is even worse than slavery.

  • Thank you so much for this video. Our family has had a nightmare. My stepmother even though she never recieved guardianship stopped my fathers the children from contact, the ability to have any medical information. She moved him from a nursing home saying it cost to much and put him into a residental care center that is now facing crimainal charges for negligence due to the lack of care. She isolated him, she then had him medicated (stating he was violent) and then she took all of the estate

  • Do you or someone you know have a similar story? If so, we would like to hear from you. Please visit our webpage at National Association to Stop Guardian Abuse where you will find a way to email us. All correspondence will be kept confidential.

  • Our elders need to know that they will be cared for and respected as they age. We need to find ways to stop the abuse, neglect and exploitation. Please visit the forum on ElderAware to discuss and share ways to help.

  • Anyone in New York can look up the law of guardianship for the elderly in the "Mental Hygiene Law Article 81". Within that law there is a section on the "powers of a guardian" which every person should read. After reading it, you will realize that everything you imagined about your civil rights or due process was a figment of someone's imagination. Remember, forewarned is forearmed. Join the fight to stop forced guardianships and conservatorships before it happens to you!!!!

  • Thank you for this information!

  • It could happen to you ...One day, you are a free person, enjoying your golden years your own way. Then, a judge rules you incapacitated

and you are shackled to a corrupt guardian who has total control over your liberty, your property, and your life. Your family is

helpless to stop them. National Association to Stop Guardian Abuse was formed by victims and for victims to put an end to this insidious practice.

  • Our father was abused by his WIFE our stepmother who re-wrote his will right before he died and had him sign it giving everything to her and in the event of HER death everything to her daughter. We are still fighting but this abuse of people who are dying and in ill states has to stop.

  • I always think I can't be shocked again--unfortunately, I am.

Can't this form of abuse stop?

Can't we stand up and demand change, before it is too late to stand up.

The directives we make in anticipation for our

"golden"years only reward the greedy and often corrupt.

Isolate, medicate, take the estate!!Is anyone watching? Does anyone care?

I beleive there are good people out in the

USA, they just don't know what's going on--let's let them know.

    Send these films to everyone!!

  • My wife and I are in the middle of a guardianship/estate battle with an evil and corrupt system in Greene County, Ohio. In spite of our best efforts (and lots of expense), we could not put an end to the unnecessary and unwarranted guardianship of Mom (Clara). Would you be willing to help out by reposting your comment on my video? (Clara's Tale) What happened to my mother has made me an activist pushing for court reform of guardianships. Rick Marsh

  • Human rights don't apply to wards. Is this what we have to look forward to.......

  • Thank you for this important video exposing guardianship and conservatorship abuse.

  • This abuse needs to stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Annie, this is a great series of videos you are making to enlighten and inform people about how the courts are exploiting the elderly. What state are you in? Are you able to video inside nursing homes? How is it you know so much about this subject? Keep up the good work! We need more angels like you in the world!

  • Great video! Keep up the great job of getting the word out.

  • Annie excellent job. The guardianship system allows the Guardian to take away all of their Ward's civil rights, their assets and property. Wards, who did no wrong, have less rights than mass murderers, rapists, child killers and molesters and prisoners on death row.

After the Guardian drains the Wards assets, the Ward is left depressed and destitute dependent on charity and public aid paid for by us the taxpayers.

The Guardianship system is a racket it is organized crime.

  • we have similar problems in germany, very bad!

  • My Brother was in the process of a divorce when he acquired a traumatic brain injury. He is a veteran of the 1st gulf war. His wife received guardianship and sued the establishment where my Brother was injured. Now she has little contact with him and refuses to allow him to be with his true family. She was awarded a large amount of money because he could not perform his manly duties with her. I hope she rots in hell!

  • This is great! Thank you.

    Know Films

  • Great job!

  • This is great --- people don't know about guardianship abuse until it's too late. Guardian/attorney tag teams are a subculture of our society preying on the vulnerable. We have to stop the financial and emotional rape of the elderly and vulnerable. Please join the call for reform: the National Association to STOP Guardian Abuse.

  • Thank you for telling Americans about this dirty little secret

  • Fantastic. Thank you.

  • My father in law had Alzheimer's when his wife died in 2003, and a lawyer rewrote Dad's will, giving everything to a realtor. A month later, a judge declared dad incompetent and a guardian was appointed.

The guardian continued to allow the realtor and attorney access to Dad, who had convinced Dad that his daughters were out hurt him.

When Dad died in Nov., 2005, we were forced into a will contest that continues to this day.

  • I have going to make a documentary... where do you live? I also have a public access show in NY which I am going to use to spread the word... lets talk

    Annie (631) 549-5665

  • I live in Milwaukee. Dad lived in St. Petersburg, FL.

I think that in theory, the principle of guardianship is good. Guardians are supposed to protect incapacitated persons from exploitation. But the system is easy to abuse, and guardians aren't always honest, or competent.
