When you buy an older vehicle, it has a better chance of not having ABS. They just need to learn how to pump the brakes then. Besides, on roads this icey... ABS won't always help enough to prevent an accident.

First of all, if you don't have an ABS system on your car, don't step on the brakes, pump them slowly until you come to a complete stop. Slamming and just remaining your foot on the brake does NOT make you stop faster.
